People are now doing hangover level match to justify Nz losing and are acting as if Pakistan beating NZ will be a walk in the park 😂
 
Remember England suddenly came to know that they will not make it to the Champions Trophy if they don't finish in top 7. They might actually wake up from their slumber to at least give it a go to finish in top 7.
 
Chances are going from bad to worse for Pakistan. IF NZ wins today against SA then it will be all over for Pakistan.
 
It's funny people assuming NZ is weak somehow?
They ran Australia down to wire, Australia won thanks to ultimate hitting by Warner and head.
They ran india close, India barely managed due to brilliance of kohli in a run chase.
NZ are still the 2nd most complete and well rounded team in this tournament.

England is not waking up to anything. They should finish dead last.
 
Pakistan's tournament ended once they allowed Afghan openers to put on 130 under lights at Chepauk while defending 280. There was no way back from there.

They are not and were never good enough to beat 2 out of South Africa, New Zealand and England.
 
ENG vs AUS rivalry should give aus tough time. Afganistan can surprise Australia. So Australia can get to 10 points winning against BAN. NZ can loose to SA and PAK.

PAK should win big against NZ and ENG.

I ran the numbers. If NZ lose big to SA, nrr will take care of it self (we'd also have to beat nz by necessity,so their nrr will fall further)

I would give credit to Afg batsmen.
It was Kohli-esque chase.
Took calculated risk, singles-doubles and kep wicket in hands etc. It was a proper ODI chase.

Pakistan chances are as much as Palestine getting Independence from Isreal and Pakistan not requiring another IMF deal, case closed.
 
This game will be big if Pak I mean SA can somehow win this by a big margin.
 
The Saffers beating NZ isn't that surprising I am more worried about what Pakistan is going to do against Kiwi and English spinners.
 
It is going to be hilarious if South Africa defeats the kiwis today with massive margins, giving Pakistanis a small glimmer of hope, only for Pakistan to lose to the same kiwis in few days.

If New Zealand gets beaten today and South Africa wins by a big margin Pakistan will ensure they win the New Zealand game, trust me on that.

This is a different situation, Pakistan went into this tournament unsure of their playing 11. Fakhar and Shaheen both are in form and match winners and Babar has learnt a few things from his mistakes. Despite beating newzealand they might not make it to the semis but I am sure they will be a different team as long as they have chance to qualify
 
NZ losing some players might be the hope that Sri lanka beats them.

This is 2022 wc all over again. Us relying on a Fodder minnow to pass through 😂😂
 
Pakistan chances will improve by a lot after this huge victory. Might even be possible on NRR
 
We might be looking too much into beating a weak Bangla but shows what making even one change can do to our fortunes. A further tweak in order to strengthen the batting could be to move Riz to open as I'm still not convinced he's a no.4.

Move Shafique to 3 with Babar at 4 then you can have Saud, Agha and Ifti to follow.

Honestly - it's why the rest of the world loves Pakistan. These stories do follow them around and somehow they pull off stunts like '92, like CT 2017 and like 2022.

Even I thought this was a 3/4 bridges too far, but somehow thanks to fate they still have an outside chance.

More than outside now. I'd say 40 to 50%

Pak still in the tournament 100%. Semi is on.
 
Pakistan chances to qualify for SF increased from 3.7% to 9.2% as per a certain site

Even if South Africa beat the kiwis by 200 runs, Pakistan needs to beat the kiwis by 80+ runs.

But would be a massive positive for Pakistan to end the tournament beating two finalists in back to back games and finishing 5th from the sort of start they had a month ago.
 
Pakistan would need to hammer both NZ and Eng, then also hope either NZ lose to SL, or a narrow win over SL.

So NZ are at +0.484 and we are at - 0.024 so much less of a difference now. Still need a 70+ run margin I think against NZ
 
190 runs victory for South Africa brings Pakistan back into the World Cup.
But rain can spoilsport the Pak Vs NZ game.

However to keep things simple, New Zealand net run rate was around 350-360 runs before this match are now within 160-180 range from Pakistan.
Pak Vs NZ game will have double impact if Pak wins. Pak will get the increase in NRR and NZ will have the same negative impact. Therefore,we need to beat NZ by around 80-90 runs or its equivalent while chasing to equal the net run rate.

It’s 92 runs so beat New Zealand by 92 runs we go past and better their net run rate. Looks difficult

I think around 160 runs



0.486 x 7 x 50 =159.6. I'm not sure about this, some expert can shed a light on this.
 
As much as I want this to be true I can’t see it happening. We win the next two games it leaves us on 10 points. NZ have a game in hand and if we both end up on 10 points they’ll go through on NRR

Why is it a failure?

Pakistan lost about 4 games in a row, coming back and getting 5th place, esecialy if tired to NZ who could make the semis is a massive positive at this point.

Wrong. NZ are done. They barely have 11 men and their 2 best bowlers are out
 
Assuming Pakistan bats first and scores 300. Then Pakistan will need to win by 84 runs to go ahead of NZ run rate.
 
Don't forget Afghan yo! They will leapfrog us by beating Netherlands and could potentially cause an upset against Saffers.
