These officials need to be appointed at the U13, U16, U19, Academies, Domestic teams, not at the national level
What is the point of power hitting coach? If batting coach isn’t good enough for advising on power hitting then what is the point of him?
Former legendary left-arm pacer Wasim Akram has backed Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) decision to hire a power-hitting coach for the national team.
"Power-hitting coaches are important because you need a specific balance than what you would have while batting normally. Power hitting in cricket is much like a golf shot where you need to have the right balance," said Akram while talking to media in Karachi.
The former Pakistan captain hinted that PCB should snub the idea of hiring a local coach for this role and opt for someone with the right knowledge, someone from abroad.
"This is a great idea and everyone is benefiting from power-hitting coaching. One coach is of from England whereas the other is an American who has trained several teams," hinted Wasim Akram.
The 55-year-old commented on Pakistan's recent performances and said that they have been praiseworthy and that Saqlain Mushtaq's coaching had certainly impressed him.
"Saqlain has done a great job as the interim coach and Pakistan did fantastic under him, and T20 World Cup is a great example of it," said Wasim.
Akram later expressed his delight with PCB's progress and the idea of importing drop-in pitches to improve the standards of overall cricket in Pakistan.
"Pakistan cricket is moving in the right direction and these projects and new ideas need to be implemented so the cricket can grow even further," said Wasim while talking to media in Karachi.
He further reiterated that with Australia's imminent tour to Pakistan, the PCB must do everything in their power to ensure a safe environment for the players due to the pandemic.
"Covid-19 is rapidly spreading all over the world once again and extreme caution needs to be exercised. PCB needs to make sure that Australia's tour to Pakistan remains on and is not halted or delayed due to lack of preparation in regards to Covid-19," said Wasim.

Seriously, it's laughable.
The batting coach should be an all round coach to cover all aspects of batting.
Looks like PCB has too much extra money to burn or they are plain incompetent and clueless or perhaps they want to hire a cipharshi who can hog on the funds.
Perhaps if some players truly need a power hitting training then a short coaching stint with such a coach should be sufficient. Even a few youtube videos pretty much cover a good portion of power hitting coaching. It's all up to the player if he wants to put an effort and passion to learn OR you want him to get used to spoon feeding?
I also feel that top performing players should take on the responsibility of coaching young players.
Imran, Javed, Sarafaz, they all did that. And that's the best of the best coaching a young player can get.
Hiring an army of coaches won't do much. The total approach and mindset is wrong.
Kinda pointless advertising the job after what happened last time with Dean Jones.
“Applicant requires x, y, z experience”
*PCB appoint someone with ZERO coaching experience*
If players need coaches at the international level then they shouldnt be playing. As i have said many times its a scam where the coaches become cheerleaders and dont or cant coach. Its better to invest in facilities and players at the domestic level and the talent will take care of itself. We do need a Director of Cricket to provide a strategic goal and plan the way ahead and find talent spotters to find new players
Most of the time the people who are going to get the job(s) are decided beforehand and the recruitment process is by and large a box ticking exercise.
Interesting though that Tait has been given the bowling coach role especially after he walked away from Afghanistan Cricket Board after a few months.
Walking away from Afghanistan cricket does not mean much, given the kind of situation their team and country is in atm - can't really hold that against Tait.

However, it is still a very questionable appointment and seems to have been made only because of Tait's nationality.
This is ridiculously short on detailed requirements.Anyone interested in this. PCB is looking for head coach. I guess the options approached by the PCB are not willing to work here.

PCB is fulfilling the requirement only otherwise they are in direct contact with coaches for hiring purpose. This is ridiculously short on detailed requirements.
