Babar Azam is a proper batsman unlike the Shaibzadas , Usmans etc etc who are in hack category. Yes Babar has deficiencies he is not the best in the world but for Pakistan team he is an asset and thankfully the mgmt and those in power knew it

Look we can argue about bilaterals and phattas etc but it's always good to see a player score runs.

Hopefully he can get himself into good form for upcoming matches and score valuable runs for the country.
 
As long as player's performance is in winning cause or even if he is a lone warrior for his team, any sane person should not have a problem

And if a person still develops issue with certain players, then he is not sane in this case....

King is on 20. Crazy number. 32 international hundreds. I think he has a realistic chance to get 35 ODI 100s and 55 overall hundreds before he retires but he needs to stay focused and not bother about outside noise.

Some trolls are claiming we said Babar is better than Viv. No one said that. He equalled Anwar for the Pak record in almost half the innings which is a magnificent feat.

Babar has an ICC trophy win with a performance in the final and is the only captain in history to win a WC match for Pak vs India.

I know it hurts you but by the time Babar is done he will have 35 ODI centuries and will unequivocally be our best batsman of all time.

I agree with all of this except that Sachin was finished when he played in the 2011 WC, yeah he scored some runs but they were largely impact-less & the knock in the Semi was a farce as well and Pakistan are to blame for padding his numbers further with the silly dropped chances, he struggled quiet a bit as a batter. He did win the WC but I think others in the team helped carry him to that milestone.

I am not debating whether Tendulkar padded or not.

But Rizbar supporters should be the last one calling someone out on stat padding when they themselves do the same and get supported for it in droves !
 
Babar's best format is ODI... simple fact... He cannot be replaced there.. Yeah he can be rested to let some youngster get a game but dropped? Nayyy.. not in ODIs atleast.... Whatever you guys say, he has been scoring the bulk of team runs for years... In t20s and Test, the case is different.. I have not seen any real improvement in those formats...

Pakistan’s batting stalwart Babar Azam has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for a Level 1 ICC Code of Conduct breach.

The 31-year-old has been found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.”

In addition, a demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record, making it a first offence for Babar in a 24-month period.

The incident occurred in the 21st over of Pakistan’s innings when Babar hit the stumps with his bat before leaving the crease following his dismissal.

On-field umpires Alex Wharf and Rashid Riaz, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi levelled the charge while Ali Naqvi of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees proposed the sanction.

The Pakistan batter admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction, negating the need for a formal hearing.

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

Pakistan went on to clinch a series sweep over Sri Lanka with Babar playing a lead role with the bat, scoring 165 runs - most in the series - which included a record 20th ODI ton.

He took Fakhar's number 3 spot and got a duck while Fakhar made a great contribution at number 5. For me, For me, Pakistan should stick with Farhan, Saim and Fakhar as top 3 batters in T20s. Babar should play ODIs and Tests only for the national side.
 
Babar has jumped 1 spot to be placed at 6th in the ODI batter rankings.... That century helped him alot here..

Babar can only bat effectively as an opener and is a perfect foil in a lineup with a destructive middle order. Pakistan do not have an explosive middle order and they won’t naturally have one in the near future, due to the dearth of the such talent.

The hope was that Babar, as a technically gifted batter, would make relevant changes to become an impactful middle order batter. He either hasn’t shown the improvements to do so yet, or he’s just too risk averse to even consistently try.

He’s also got other openers who can do what he does at a quicker rate. Thus he’s not making the team as an opener.

I’d like to see the team specifically ask him to bat at a higher rate at #3 for the next two games and I’d like to see Pakistan bat first in the remaining games.

If there’s no improvement, he shouldn’t make the World Cup squad.

Rizwan is not in the squad, so bringing him up is pointless.

This may sound a stunning concept, but not every aspect of Pakistan cricket needs to become about the RizBabar culture wars.

If you’d actually read my post, I’ve clearly stated that other openers get in ahead of him based on a higher strike rate.

He can only play in the team as a middle order batter currently, but he’s not consistently showing the aggression needed to justify his place

Pls don’t ’you people’ me. One of the reasons why I don’t post here anymore is why you specifically torpedo every discussion w/ your RizBabar culture wars nonsense.

Farhan, Saim and Fakhar are all openers. Fakhar cld play 1 down but is at that stage of his career where you cannot rely on him because of fitness issues. If he gets injured before the WC, we’re screwed.

Khwaja Nafay absolutely has a bright future, but continually failed in the Top End series w/ the Shaheens a few months ago. Ideally we develop him as a middle order batter, but that won’t happen a few months from the World Cup.

Same goes for Maaz, who’s best has also been as an opener. A fabulous talent who’s development we cannot screw up just so that we can try to fit him in for the World Cup.

Because when Nafay and Maaz do fail (by being undercooked and not properly developed), you’ll be one of those calling them to be dropped and replaced by mythical non-existent middle order batsmen who you’ve still failed to name.

What are you on about?

I’m still seething at the management for dropping Nawaz and Harris from the squad. Why would I be the one asking for players who I know and back to be dropped??!

I NEVER desert my players! I will be honest and call out their shortcomings, but I will NEVER disown them if I know what their potential is.
