Gwadar to host HBL PSL Player Draft

Lahore, 20 December 2024:

The Pakistan Cricket Board today announces the port city Gwadar in Balochistan as host for the Player Draft of 10th edition of HBL Pakistan Super League. The ceremony that kicks off the league’s festivities will take place on Saturday, 11 January 2025. The start timing of the event will be shared in due course.

The decision to choose Gwadar was made with the aim of taking the popular sport among the people in that part of the province and inspire the next generations to take up cricket as a professional sport.

PCB Chair Mohsin Naqvi:

“Gwadar, with its stunning coastline and strategic importance, represents the heart of Pakistan’s economic future. By hosting the HBL PSL Player Draft here, we aim to highlight its cultural and economic significance while celebrating the unity cricket brings to our nation.

“I look forward to welcoming all the franchises and the relevant stakeholders to the beautiful city of Gwadar on 11 January as we take an exciting step towards marking the start of the 10th edition of Pakistan’s biggest sporting extravaganza.”

HBL PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer:

“It gives me great pride in announcing Gwadar as the host city for the HBL PSL Player Draft. This initiative reflects our commitment to expanding HBL PSL’s reach to every corner of Pakistan and showcasing the beauty of Pakistan to the world.

“HBL PSL is more than a cricket league to passionate fans of Pakistan, it’s a celebration of Pakistan’s passion, diversity, and talent. The Player Draft taking place in Gwadar is a step towards inspiring young cricketers from Balochistan and other cities of the country to dream big.”

The relegation process and retention of players will be announced at the end of December.

Great decision.
Gawawdar is indeed where all the hopes of Pakistan will be in the upcoming decades. Need to promote it as a place where everyone should be.

Terrible decision.

I feel sorry for the players that will be forced to travel to those dump lands... The rich owners will be travelling with their own entourage.

Their isnt suitable drinking water in that part of the country. Things are very bad there. Either all of them will be travelling from karachi to that place or i hope there is some service.

I can already see the event being a stupid show. Will have to complete it in a day and not extend it two if they plan to go in and come out

First David willey and now Usman Khawaja. :ROFLMAO:

PSL has fallen to very low level league

:kp

These guy are not even in ipl auction list, forget about ipl unsold players...
He is not in the auction because he signed but didn't play last year after selling for 240k

IPL has a policy if player pulls out he's not selected again.

willey was very good for multan. How is this low level??? If they had played in IPL, everything would have been fine no?

Willy is a retired player now.

Anyway perfect player for PSL knowing most of retired ( Overseas) players are playing in the PSL.

:kp
LOL I think you forgot Sachin and Kallsi played iN IPL after being a retired international player. Howzatt for a fact???

This is the criteria that retired player cannot play any league then why sachin and kallis played... I am sure there will be many more names but no example better than saching...LOL

Jacques Kallis last played in the IPL in 2012 and he was retired from international cricket in 2014.

Sachin Was not a overseas player. Any other excuses? 🤣

he played 8 games in IPL 2014 for KKR BROTHER...

What about Faf?? watson?? GIlcrist?? warne?

Yes but he was still not retired from international cricket. Jacques Kallis' last international match was on July 12, 2014, in an ODI against Sri Lanka at Hambantota. So my point is still valid.

Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman has officially signed up for HBL PSL 2025 Draft.

Which team should be looking to get him for their squad???

Quetta??

ipl
ilt20
bbl
sa20
hundred
t20 blast
abu dhabi t10
Ilt20 is really low quality. BBL also have low quality foreign players but its easily top 2 due to its production, commentary and other factors. SO I my view
Ipl
Bbl
Sa20
PSL

from being the 2nd best league to now not being even in top 6,what a downfall psl has seen
Yeah no excuse for PSL now, no international cricket will be played during this time and lot of well known international players available like matt short, finn Allen, Alex Carey, Adam milne, Kyle jamieson, jonny bairstow,Tim southee, matt Henry, daryl Mitchell, jhye Richardson. If they cant even sign them then play without foreign players or play 2 per side like big bash league.

Yeah ilt20 is literally cringefest. Buying some players at high rate didn't makes it high quality league. Even bpl and cpl is better than ilt20.
I have dipped into most of these leagues. IPL is better and perhaps SA20.

The rest are not better than PSL.

Just stay on topic about PSL draft... These comparisons with other leagues is not for this thread. PLEASE

I hope PSL gets to attract atleast one current international player this time.
More or less, PSL is for foreign retired players

I will quite watching cricket if they agains selected samit patel, and david wiese.

PSL doesn't attract big names. Even the likes of Moeen Ali has been preferring BPL over PSL.

You don't know anything about gawadar

PSL is not happening. Just the Draft for some hours.
Sir, still, why should a player be forced to attend an event in an inhabitable place for 6 hours? Will PCB provide insurance to these guys?

Cricketers should not be risked for the govt trying to market Balochistan. Its inhabital, fix the city atleast before doing these stupid gimmicks.

Behind the beautiful picture of this cricket ground lies a grim image.

inhabitable?

Have you ever went to Balochistan?

What insurance does PCB need to provide? That the bottled water they will be drinking won't be causing illness?

water is a need, if there is no suitable water that place is consider inhabitable. Bottler water is not the answer. Not only water is consumed, you need to bath etc.

What insurance? Sir, if you do not have access to clean water you are risking your kidneys and other illnessess. This isnt a small thing. Players without the protection of any Union will be forced to attend this event which is 7 hours away from Karachi.

PCB is putting the health at risk of many people here.

Who needs to bath during the Draft?

Access to clean drinking water will be available during the Draft.

I have been to Balochistan. It's not "inhabitable". That would be planet Venus.

Read what you have written. It's so absurd. Clutching on straws.

You are downplaying the need of water. Sanitation is as important. You think people dont go to washrooms and bath after maghrib, really?

Any place that has no drinking water, is inhabitable.. Venus is not inhabitable, but uninhabitable, there is a difference.

Its a terrible idea to have any such activites in Gwader just to promote Pakistans politics through cricketers.

England's Dawid Malan has signed up for HBL PSL Draft. Multan's eyes will be shining seeing him, NO???

The legend of Bangladesh is ready to take on PSL 2025

Even if these international players are retired or has-beens, this is still the best group of international players to sign up for PSL in many years.

Alex Hales has signed up for the PSL 2025 Draft - yet again!

He has won 3 PSL Trophies - 2 with Islamabad United and 1 with Karachi Kings!
