[PICTURES] Pakistan cricket cake celebrations thread

Most IPL teams do it for birthdays of players as well.

CSK did it for winning the semifinal, final and even when Chahar proposed to his girlfriend lol. So it's clearly not unique to the Pakistan. But haven't seen the Indian team do it personally.

Believe me there is nothing wrong with eating cakes for a healthy individual, particularly for an athlete who otherwise exercises and burns enough calories . Cakes are carbohydrates/sugar and its source of calories which young athlete need along with protein and some fat. Yes is someone is couch potato and keeps eating cakes everyday he would end up like Shahzad , the Afghan keeper.

It's part of Pakistani culture, people cut cakes and distribute sweets as a form of celebration. It's somewhat tied to the larger Islamic tradition of giving sweets when you share good news.

Cake culture is important but "when" to have a cake is also important (as in OP)

Strange memories these ones.

Strange memories these ones.

This was a very bad look after a loss Something like this shouldnt be repeated

U wanna cut a cake fine but cut it only if u win

If there ever was a reason to celebrate with a cake...

Just seen a video the whole team gone to safraz’s house to cut a cake.. are these guys mentally unwell !!

Just seen a video the whole team gone to safraz’s house to cut a cake.. are these guys mentally unwell !!

What is this mentality? What is there to celebrate? The zero test wins at home this year?

There used to be dressing room braws in Pakistan dressing room. Nowadays dressing room comedy :) I don't think Bangladesh cut cake after their win in NZ. Anyway, looks like they were expecting to lose this Test and surprised themselves. Hence the cake i suppose.

:)))

I was gonna comment in the match thread right after the game that Babar is probably gonna round up the boys for a celebratory dinner in Clifton… but this is even worse.

This is the aukhat of our test team now… celebrating draws.

Just seen a video the whole team gone to safraz’s house to cut a cake.. are these guys mentally unwell !!

:facepalm
This is really the mindset of our players/management. We celebrate 30-40 runs as if the player is world beater..

- Some fast short pitch bowling in a losing game that player is the best bowler
- A quick 30-40 in a losing game and that batsmen is the best aggressive batsmen.
- A 100 with a SR for 90 and he is untouchable..

with this sort of mentality we will go no where

At least when Akrams team lost they took a bung or two.. these guys are plainly embarrassing the nation by each passing day.

That Brisbane Test was the start of our Test downfall. Been a miserable time since.

The mindset of celebrating these meaningless things is rotten and needs to be decimated from the Pakistani psychology.

Those fools kept Sarfraz out of the team for 4 years for politics!

Now they want to recuperate the abuse/pain they have inflicted on him with a cake!! After he had gave brilliant performance through the whole series AND he is now is a pending captain!!! They just want to earn some brownie points from Lion Sarfraz!

This is a disingenuous and distasteful act!

Pakistan Cricket Team cannot go any lower.

Calm down He may Hve been excellent with the bat but hes been abysmal with the gloves

If hed hung onto a chance or two we may have ended up winning the series instead of drawing it

Do you think they had any chance of not getting white-washed if Sarfraz was not included?

Also, check your stats.

Rizwan only caught 1 catch during the whole 3 match ENG series.

Sarfraz caught 4 catches and did 2 stumping during the 2 match NZ series.

Sarfraz presence on the field was felt and resulted into more catching and dismissal opportunities.

Just seen a video the whole team gone to safraz’s house to cut a cake.. are these guys mentally unwell !!

If this is true then our cricket is going in another direction…

Genuinely think we need Shaiby, Asif and Afridi in the dressing room as coaches. This luvy duvy crap has to end.

Pathetic lot. Who started this cake culture?
How can you celebrate when you cant even win tests at home!

It was obvious to anyone with eyes Rizwan, sorry, Muhammad, should have come in for Dr Masood and taken the gloves back

Take it easy guys. If Sarfaraz wants to cut a cake then what is your problem? Do you expect him to mourn

lol imagine if it was Akmal or Shahzad, you’d have a different tone.

They’re grown men, representing a country. They haven’t won a game in their last 3 (?) home series’. The last thing they should be doing is celebrating an individuals performance as if they’ve achieved something as a team.

If we get knocked out in the group stages of the WC, and Babar scores a hundred in the last game before leaving the tournament, would you want to see the players cutting cake and celebrating as if they’ve not let the country down?

I always thought cakes were a child's birthday thing

Or a girlie thing what girls gave to their girlfriends cupcakes , celebrating baby showers, bridal showers , engagement party

Never seen grown men doing this

Right…

I was always thought this too. I wonder who started these cake parties.

I would get them and put them out of the team ASAP.

On what basis you are saying Sarfaraz was kept of the team because of politics??
Sarfraz was rightly removed from captaincy and dropped from the team due to his abysmal performance and fitness. His individual contribution was almost zero and he was dropped when Pakistan lost plenty of test / ODI matches. Rizwan is now failing continuously but that doesn't mean that Sarfraz was good.

This culture of putting individual player above team's performance is pathetic and must be discouraged.

This thread is for Cakes etc!

Please use Sarfaraz Thread to discuss his selection

Please bring back the infighting and egos of the 90s. I am sick of this acha bacha behaviour like primary schoolboys celebrating random things.

Leave the cakes to the kids please.

Team celebrates Haris Sohail's birthday

It is cringe to see these guys cutting cakes after each milestone, even though they have lost the match, but keep in mind the Aussies, english and others drink beer etc.

Just seen a video of shaheen Haris Rizwan & co cramped up on a plane an air hostess cutting a you guessed what..

What ever happened to passenger safety.

Special cake prepared by SriLankan Airlines to welcome Pakistan cricket team aboard the aircraft.

I will be happier if the team focuses on the World Cup-winning celebrations and they have a solid plan to achieve this feat.

October 9th:
Pakistan team was provided a cake by the Hyderabadi hotel. They had celebration party and huge enjoyment after winning against a huge team like Netherlands.

October 11th (today):
Pakistan team indulged on a chocolaty sensation, a very delicious creamy chocolate cake on the early morning flight from Hyderabad to Ahmedabad, following a win against Sri Lanka.

October 14th:
This day is when Pakistan plays India. If Pakistan makes history & beats India for the first time ever in a 50-over World Cup, will the follow the tradition of the last 2 victories with a cake party?

October 15th:
This day is Babar Azam’s birthday. He is considered the king of Pakistan team birthday cake celebrations & is the current captain. Will Pakistan team celebrate throw yet another cake party for “king” Babar?

Feel free to add your opinions.

Im sorry on behalf of Hotel staff, Hyderabad City and whole of India for that sorry excuse of cake decoration.

I promise we aren't that bad all the time.

If other cricket boards took pictures of teams after a win, you will see lots of drinking instead of cake!

But the haters will never want to eradicate drinking culture.

Cakes cutting cakes

Nothing to see here

The way this team celebrates every little achievement, every record, milestone, ranking & average boost I am almost 100% certain after every single win in this world cup, a cake will be cut. Well obviously Babar will be gifted a mega cake on his birthday, whether anybody likes it or not doesn't matter.
Now regarding Ind win, if they indeed pull off the heist in front of 130k rabid fans then they deserve a full blown buffet, not just cake. They have cultivated this culture throughout a decade. You can't suddenly expect them to act maturely. Better hope they keep on winning & cutting cakes.

No one is popping bottles of champagne after winning against the Netherlands.

They just have some dinner and drink sparkling water and go along their day.

Babar is ruining Pakistan team culture by condoning these cake parties.

This is not the way to play a sport.

Pakistan has yet to face an actual opponent this World Cup. The wins against NL & SL are nothing to celebrate about.

See, drinking alcohol is fine, but eating cake is not, according to Indians and Pakistan haters.

To top it off, I wonder what these said haters cut on their birthday? The ambilical cord?

Lets not forget the IPL match winning after parties, booze, food, and cheer leaders, but no, a cake is ruffling feathers.

Who's going to stop Babar? Zaka? Inzy? Mickey? Ramiz? Nobody. He's untouchable & after last night's record breaking win his profile has grown even further. So it's futile to complain about it. As a supporter the best you can do is hope the team keeps winning.

Let’s not pretend alcohol isn’t drunken in Pakistan.

The premise of your comment is completely wrong.

The team doesn’t keep winning.

They just lost to Sri Lanka & India (200+ runs) in the Asia Cup. Lost both warm up matches against Australia and New Zealand.

They only won against NL & SL. lol!

With this kind of minnow mentality you can forget about silverware.

Even Kenya wouldn’t celebrate beating the Dutch !

Such naivety.

Pakistan were not celebrating beating Netherlands, they celebrated kicking off their WC campaign with a win.

Had it been any other team instead of Netherlands, Pakistan team would still have celebrated.

They were lucky to be facing the Netherlands in the first match.

Be happy that they aren’t playing against the West Indies like in ‘19.

What a sorry excuse for a cake LOL ! BCCI and Hyd should have gotten a better cake and the less said about the writing the better. :)

I don’t blame them. BCCI aren’t cake aficionados and don’t have much experience in serving their premier athletes unhealthy junk food like cakes.

Man you make the bcci look like a really professional unit! They are just a money minting money making organization and admittedly are good at that.. The local association here is responsible for these cakes etc.. My issue was hyd is famous for their cakes and we get really amazing cakes there and they could have provided a really nice one ! Also an fyi. One of the oldest and more popular bakeries in hyd is the Karachi Bakery...🎂

this is alll you say. they were lucky facing xyz, they were lucky they beat sri lanka. har jaga lucky.

Honestly this is ridiculous.

Professional sportsmen should not be eating cake during their World Cup.

If they were disciplined on their diets they wouldn't even WANT to eat cake.

Pakistan are decades behind other teams when it comes to fitness and nutrition.

But other teams have alcohol, that's ok during a tournament when it comes to fitness and nutrition?

It's a piece of cake anyway, that small cake will be shared by about 20 to 25 people. It's not like each player is having an entire cake.

Sorry, where have you seen that teams are drinking alcohol after games in this WC?

Nonetheless - what other teams do is not relevant in any way.

It is an obvious standard to set to ensure nutrition is as close to optimal as possible during the biggest stage of your career.

Certain carbs shouldn't even be a consideration, let alone how we're somehow discussing cake.

There is no excuse. There is only indiscipline and ignorance. And that is what we're seeing here.

post no.203

you mentioned about babars birthday cake.

atleast be consistent when you are exposed with your pants down.
Babar’s birthday cake only becomes a problem when you’ve had 3 cake parties in the past 5 days.

What other teams do is relevant because you stated - Pakistan are decades behind other teams when it comes to fitness and nutrition.

You made the other teams relevant, and yes the other teams are drinking throughout the tournament, and have done in past tournaments too, especially when they have their dinner for example. They are restricted however to the amount of drinking they can do. Aussie and England players do indulge in a bottle of bear after a match too. It's no secret.

If Pakistan are decades behind other teams (as you put it) because they have a slice of cake but the other teams have alcohol, then I rather Pakistan stay be behind.

Honestly, a slice of cake is the issue? You talk about carbs, but glucose, aka sugar, is energy in its simple form. So a slice of cake isn't going to hurt.

The only reason the cake celebrations are an issue is because they're seen as cringeworthy.

India is eating cake. Kohli the fitness freak is indulging in it.

Don’t think Kohli is eating cake and biryani with a can of coke every day.

Every milestone, victory or birthday gets celebrated, doesn’t mean you need cake for it.

you need to look at the food videos of all teams before talking

FWIW , the Aus team that won the 2021 T20 WC in Dubai had their players drinking from a shoe (Wade & Stoinis) that was pretty disgusting. Eating cake is much better than that I guess LOL ;)

Don’t need to when Kohli shares his diet with us.

“Kohli refrains from dal, rajma, and lobia, and avoids spicy curries. He relishes coffee, steering clear of sugary beverages and gluten, and opts for smoothies, sprouts, or salads for healthy carbs”.

Does that sound like someone who has butter chicken, with some tandoori nans and a can of coke?

Local bakery will go bust tonight… I suppose they can cut a little muffin they did take 3 wckts & balled a few dot balls.
