So pack your bags mid series and whine about a poor team? Is that what a good captain is supposed to do?
Why are you bringing Shahid Afridi into this? Do you think I'm some fan of his?
This is the problem with all you blind followers of Misbah, you have to bring an even worse example to deflect from any criticism that is made towards your favourite player.
You fail to miss the point that keeping up a team's morale after a defeat is important. Some cope by drinking and visiting pubs. Pakistan coped by eating cake.
We've had debates on Misbah before and I know you well enough to know that you're being disingenuous because you're obviously going out of your way here to clutch at straws, as you're incapable of criticising Misbah. It's almost as if your life depends on him despite all the damage he's done to Pakistan cricket.
Having said all that I'll play devil's advocate with you. There's an obvious need for Misbah to keep up the team's morale to ensure the side does not become demoralised following the loss to Australia in Brisbane, as there are two test matches left in the series. In response to the defeat, he decides to arrange a cake cutting ceremony right after the game, with full knowledge of the cake cutting being video recorded. The footage of the cake cutting has gone public on social media and can be easily found. Fans/ex-players wonder why is cake being cut at this moment after a test match is being lost?
It doesn't matter what coping mechanism you use, you simply cannot justify the timing and the damage this footage has done.
Cake cutting was a remnant of the Misbah era and he brought Pakistan cricket to a new low after facilitating the events that occurred after the lost Brisbane test. It was nowhere near as profound, prior to his captaincy. Now, it's become more and more of a frequent event in Pakistan cricket. It's safe to say that Misbah is the one who set this low threshold to justify such celebrations. He proudly said in an interview that 5fers and tons would always be celebrated with cake, regardless of the outcome of the match. The bottom line is it was his own policy, so stop resorting to lame coping mechanisms to justify his actions that have completely ruined the psyche of Pakistan cricket.
