[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Babar Azam v2.0: Performance Watch

Babar the batsmen is fine when chasing a target below 150.

The issue is when there is a total above 160 - he is unable to accelerate.
Do you know how many times Babar has chased 160 totals? Before commenting don't you think you need a little research to do?

You can’t discard Farhan especially how he performed in pressure games vs India . He has to be backed for Wt20. Saim is a lottery

No way Farhan should get any game at the world t20.

Teams will play their full strength sides and he will be a total dud against half decent bowling.

He has absolutely no shots apart from closing his eyes and slogging towards the leg side. Apart from that he just plays dots. No offside game and no other shot.

This tukka shot has worked a couple of times but mostly he has only failed and batted at pathetic strike rate and low average. No good team is going to give him room and let him score.

A very limited player for me. Pakistan has witnessed better batsmen with far superior technique.

He will not make the 11 for Top 4 teams now. So, calling him KING looked comical from past 3-4 years. But he is a better player than most Pakistan batsmen and should easily walk-into the ODIs and tests. T20s should strictly depend on the pitch. He is not someone who find the gaps regularly nor hits lifted shots, so doesn't fit into T20s on flat surfaces. His only utility is when Pakistan bowls well and restricts the opposition. That tells you his utility in the team. But sadly, Pakistan doesn't have much options.

What really surprised me is his red ball performances. He has gone so bad. His peak is very low and now if we call his form as a Low, then he is strictly mediocre. He needs to have a legendary breakthrough averaging 60+ to be even considered as a potential great in Tests

I do think he's a good test batsman. Might even end up being a better test batsman than Kohli (seeing the comparisons between the both so much) but that's more the mark of how much Kohli has declined rather than how babar has improved.

But he's too passive and reactive as a batsman. Seems to second guess always and is always relatively easy to set fields to.

Won’t end up better than Kohli.

Kohli averaged 55 before declining and still has 30 100s at an average of 46.9.

Babar’s peak was 49 that too aided by flat pitches where he was outbatted by Khawaja, Brook etc.

Now that Pakistan has embarked on this dustbowl strategy his average will come down further.

Mind end up worse than Rahane/Shafiq etc.

Babar Azam has scored 58.03% of his T20I runs against SENA countries.....

ZIMBU ZIMBU ??? LOL

Go on. You have a device and an internet too.
Nope, people who have something to share, share them, instead of vague posting like a teen on Facebook and then asking others to search for it

The onus is always on the person who claims something to demonstrate that claim.

How does it compare with other top international T20 batters?
Who said anything about international batters... It was for people who are calling him zimbabar everywhere... his runs are against SENA>.. more than 58%.... isn't it enough>

This doesn’t tell us anything because it doesn’t differentiate his runs against first string attacks and those scored against depleted ones against the top 5 sides (Aus, SA, Eng, NZ and Ind).

Also why are we not showing his strike rate? Which you could argue is just as important (if not more) in the shortest format. Getting scared are we?

What a century by the one and only, Bobzie the king.

Magnificent innings. His stroke play, his foot work were all top notch today.

KING IS BACK. BOBZIE THE KING

P.s. Supported by Prince Rizwan
Pakistan copy everything from india. Hahahahaha 😂

King - Kohli ,fake King - Bobsy
Prince - gill , Fake Prince - Rizwan

:klopp :kp

Congratulations for Babar Azam to equal the most century record for Pakistan in ODI. :kp

Don’t call it a comeback
He’s been here for years!
Babar’s cover-drives
Still bring bowlers to tears.

Been quiet for a while,
But now the King’s back swinging,
Three long years later
And the bat keeps singing!

They said he lost touch,
They said the form was gone,
But he walked out calm
Like “I’ll show you how it's done.”

Straight drives glowing,
Late cuts flowing,
Scoreboard moving
Cause the King’s still growing.

Don’t call it a comeback
Call it a reminder:
Form is temporary,
But class? That’s kinder.

Century on the board
And the crowd’s gone wild,
Babar back in beast mode
Never stopped being poster child.

So write it in the headlines,
Put it loud and clear:
“The King didn’t return…
He just shifted the gear!”

:ba

Comeback for what? The players he was once compared to have all gone on to achieve far greater things. This 100 after 2 years is actually sad and a reminder how the standards of Babar have fallen so much. He should have been breaking far bigger records.

Agree a 100 and that too with so much tuk tuk vs trundlers.

Not out of the Woods yet but some encouraging signs. Babar is the most loved player of his generation and his revival would help to ease the pain of the country being a terrible state. Let's hope he kicks on and its not just a spike

What gill had done in pressure matches to be called Prince? He is just statpadder till now against mighty tounge, carse and overton..........the matches I seen of India he always failed....

Scored 754 runs in one series in England which included 4 100. In just one series. Reminder that Babar has 1 SENA 100 in his entire career.

There is no bigger arena to demonstrate a batsmans skills than test cricket.

Forget about England series, gill 91 at Gabba is bigger than whole Babar legacy in test cricket lol

:kp

In all seriousness, credit to him for playing a good innings. Hopefully for Pakistan he can return to form now, because he has completely wasted what should have been the prime years of his career.

Correction!

Please read 'the' before 'poster child'.

With his scintillating match winning knock vs SL, Babar has 20 centuries in ODIs equaling the great Saeed Anwar. He needed 136 innings for this feat which is lower than Saeed's 244. Happy for Babar, he did the hard yards and has now silenced his critics

I agree, really disappointed with his growth and performance. He is still young enough to end well but he is worries me with his negativity. On the positive side, he is loved like no other contemporary and it was great to see the crowd come alive

Amazing player.

Viv like consistency.

Better than Sachin, Kohli, Ponting, and Sangakkara.

Elite of the game.
No need to belittle him and give fake compliments. 20 centuries are 20 centuries. Among the guys you mention he is arguably right up there in ODIs and just missing longevity.

You think all of these players played long and that's the reason for their success?

Could you kindly share the centuries of Saeed Anwar and Babar Azam by countries they were against. Thanks in advance.

Viv was a totally different era. Sachin, Ponting, Kohli only have longevity over Babar in ODIs.

Babar can play for years but at the rate he scores a century it does not seem likely he will ever match any legendary player.

The last time he scored a century 2.5 years ago.

Babar has 3 centuries vs Australia, Saeed had 1. I loved Saeed so please don't make me do this.

What about other countries?

How many centuries Saeed had against Nepal?

You don't give a damn about Saeed Anwar. Otherwise you won't be comparing him with Babar. Saeed Anwar was playing in Australia when the boundaries were on average was 80 meters. Some boundaries were even more than 90 metres.
Even if he got out before the 10th over of PAk innings, he had scored 40 runs (many times). With Babar batting the entire PAk team struggles scoring 40 runs as the team total after 10 overs.

Spinners used to be scared of bowling Saeed Anwar. Babar can't play Zampa.

Build a temple in Babar's name and start worshipping him if you like him so much. It's your prerogative and right BUT strop dictating other people what they should think about Babar.

What a hard-fought century, hustling and fighting for every single run. That is the Babar we want to see. Hopefully, the king is back.

To idiots like @Rana and @mominsaigol Your apology must be louder than the disrespect. :bobs

Stay humble. It’s Babar Azam. Not AB DeVilliers

Rewatched the innings again. So happy for our King. @Major @heddie19 @Ahmed216 @Caved12 @BouncerGuy @Ball Blazer @YousafTheBeast @Dr_Bassim. Needs to kick on now if he is to finish with 35-40 ODI centuries.
Babar’s comeback has been building for a while now. It really started with that solid 42 against SA on a tough pitch where their spinners were bowling really well. Most batters struggled, but Babar read the spin nicely, used his feet, and stayed in control. He handled the spinners so well that SA eventually brought the pacers back just to try and get him out. From that point, you could see he was slowly working his way back.

Throughout this period, I kept looking at each of his innings properly and talking about what he was doing right, what he needed to adjust, and how he could get back to scoring big runs. While a lot of posters online were pushing agendas or reacting emotionally, I just stuck to cricket, analyzing his technique, his decision making, and the small improvements he was showing every game. And honestly, what I discussed back then is exactly what he’s showing now.

After that came the fifty, then another 50+ in the T20I where he won MOTM, and now this fantastic century, another match winning knock. With every innings, even with a few failures in between, he kept looking more and more like the old Babar.

And the moment after he reached the hundred was something else. His celebration was so calm and controlled, nothing over the top and you could see how much he’s been carrying. Then the sajda… you could truly feel the emotion. That moment showed exactly what this innings meant to him.

It was great to see Pakistan picking up wins, first against SA and now the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Shaheen starting his ODI captaincy with a series win is great, and Insha'Allah he recovers in time for the third ODI.

Rizwan is doing what he always does: scoring runs and keeping superbly. Saim is looking really good these days, Hussain played a good knock the other day, and Agha’s hundred in the first match was something special, he’s already a really solid player in both ODIs and Tests. And today, Abrar bowled brilliantly.

All the best to Pakistan for the third ODI and the upcoming tri-series.

Babar is a Pakistan Icon, like it or not 20 ODI tons is no joke, there were many before Sharjeel Khan, Ahmed Shehzad, Nasir Jamshed but none of them lasted that long, also at present Pakistan has no replacement for Babar.
