[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Expectations from Maryam Nawaz as Punjab CM

The one who ate haram is in jail. Sweet sweet justice.
Really? So why do you have to find judges that run off. After 3 years not a single case has stuck. Maybe you can become the lawyer and do what Munir couldn't do. Watch the video and own your shamelessness

Super seeders turning agricultural innovation into reality: CM Maryam

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has stated that the use of super seeders is transforming agricultural modernisation into reality.

In just a few months, 1,000 farmers in Punjab earned Rs579.5 million using super seeders. The technology saved 330 tons of wheat seeds across the province and reduced diesel consumption by 1.87 million liters compared to traditional methods.

By using super seeders, farmers saved Rs4.86 billion on fuel costs, while wheat sowing costs were reduced by Rs3,666 per acre. A total of 7,805 farmers in 31 districts cultivated wheat on 110,014 acres using super seeders, while 68,185 acres were covered through rental services.

Around 93% of farmers reported superior wheat germination with super seeders and highlighted its effectiveness over conventional sowing methods.

They also noted that super seeders enhance soil fertility and significantly save time and resources, allowing an acre of wheat to be sown within an hour.

Farmers further benefited from Rs. 100 per acre labor cost savings and a reduction in seed usage from 50 kg to 47 kg per acre.

Expressing satisfaction with the results, CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized that agricultural mechanization is just the beginning. She reaffirmed her commitment to introducing more revolutionary initiatives in agriculture, stating that super seeders have provided farmers with significant relief by reducing labor costs, time, and fuel expenses.

"Our mission is farmers' prosperity, agricultural innovation, and development. We are determined to make Punjab a hub of modern agricultural technology, ensuring lower production costs and higher profits," she added.

CM Maryam assails Imran for indulging in ‘politics of chaos’

PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Punjab Chief Maryam Nawaz on Monday targeted PTI supremo Imran Khan blaming him for the country’s “economic woes and introduction of politics of intolerance”.

In a veiled reference to Mr Khan, who has been in jail since August 2023 in multiple cases, CM Maryam said, “The tables turned so dramatically that the very person who once wielded power is now facing the consequences of his actions and is locked up in Adiala jail under me. This is called reversal of fortunes.”

She expressed these views while addressing a cheque distribution ceremony for Asaan Karobar Card holders.

“I neither ordered his (Imran) arrest nor his release. I never instructed anyone to cut off his air conditioning, remove his cooler, or deprive him of good food,” she said.

The PML-N leader added that PTI’s politics had stooped to “nothing more than slapping one another” after ridiculing their political opponents for years. She was talking with reference to the recent altercation between PTI leader Shoiab Shaheen and former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry outside Adiala jail.

“Making accusations, maligning others and creating anarchy is easy, but empty speeches do not bring food to the table. The country cannot afford destruction, violence, and chaos anymore. People are fed up with anarchy, as they want to earn a living and run their households,” she said.

CM Maryam claimed Pakistan’s economy had improved so was the people’s living standards. She said that inflation was at 38 per cent when the PML-N came to power but due to government efforts it was currently at 4pc only.

Lashing out at the former premier, she said he (Mr Khan) had claimed a nation could not progress through the construction of roads. “If the nation does not progress through laying a road network, then does it progress by doing politics of destruction?” she remarked.

She said the youth had become aware who had destroyed the country and who was building it. She said those who took part in the PTI protest (on Nov 26) were employees of the KP administration where the PTI is still in power.

Meeting with lawmakers

Separately, PML-N president and ex-premier Nawaz Sharif, accompanied by his daughter Maryam Nawaz, in a meeting with PML-N lawmakers blamed Mr Khan for country’s economic and other woes.

“It is unfortunate that a developing country was derailed and destroyed by polluting politics. Bad manners, malice, and revenge were introduced into politics. The economy and values were destroyed and democracy was stabbed in the back,” Nawaz Sharif said while talking to the MPAs from Sahiwal, Khanewal, Multan, Lodhran, Vehari, and Bahawalnagar divisions and districts.

Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab CM had started meeting with party lawmakers from different parts of the province a couple of weeks ago to become aware of problems in their respective constituencies.

He said, “Corruption, economic destruction, inflation, and bad manners were gifts of previous regime of change.”

He said Pakistan had returned from the brink of default. “Economic stability is reviving due to PM Shehbaz Sharif’s hard work. Economic development will be ensured through the continuity of policies,” he said and added the PMLN’s goal and narrative was to develop the country and make the people prosperous by saving them from inflation.

Some lawmakers reportedly asked the party president to play his role in empowering them to have their say in the governance in Punjab.

“The CM should not follow the footsteps of her uncle Shehbaz Sharif to run the province through bureaucracy. She should take the PML-N MPAs onboard in governance matters so that it be seen as a government run by politicians,” a PML-N leader from Punjab privy to the meeting told Dawn.

Letters from Adiala Jail request intervention for relief: Punjab CM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz claimed that repeated letters for help are being sent from Adiala Jail, requesting intervention for relief.

Addressing a public gathering in Narowal, she remarked that despite efforts to sideline Nawaz Sharif, his party remains in power—with his brother leading the federal government and his daughter heading Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz asserted that under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan has overcome its economic challenges. "Apart from Adiala Jail, positive news is emerging from everywhere," she said, pledging to continue working tirelessly to transform people’s lives.

Questioning past predictions of economic collapse, she said, "Where is the Pakistan that was supposedly on the brink of default?"

Criticizing the PTI government, she claimed that stock markets crashed and terrorism resurged under Imran Khan’s tenure. In contrast, she said, the economic situation has improved significantly, with inflation dropping from 38% to 5%.

Referring to alleged corruption during PTI’s rule, she remarked, "Nothing could be done in the province without bribery."

The Punjab Chief Minister highlighted her administration’s efforts over the past year, stating that Punjab has been cleaned up, and the price of bread has been reduced from Rs 25 to Rs 12-13.

She further announced initiatives aimed at lower-income groups, including housing loans for the needy and the distribution of Kisan Cards for farmers and Himmat Cards for persons with disabilities.

She also pledged to increase scholarships to 50,000 and announced plans to distribute 100,000 laptops soon.

Punjab govt to provide relief on basic commodities during Ramazan

The Punjab government is working to control the prices of basic food commodities as part of an effort to curb inflation during Ramazan, an official said on Tuesday.

With Ramazan around the corner, relief efforts are underway to curtail the usual price hikes in necessary commodities such as vegetables, sugar, flour and dates. The move comes as people are rushing to register for the Ramazan Nigabhan Relief Package, an initiative announced by the Punjab government last month to help ease financial difficulties during the holy month.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Salma Butt said that the rates of basic vegetables such as tomatoes, potatoes and onions would stay under Rs100 with tomatoes at Rs40-50 per kilogramme while onions and potatoes would be Rs80 and Rs55-60/kg, respectively.

She termed it a “major change” compared to the previous year, adding that the cost of dates was also expected to decrease from Rs525 to Rs485/kg.

Butt underscored the need to keep the cost of dates from reaching unreasonable levels, adding that lemons were expected to be priced at Rs110/kg as opposed to the price going as high as Rs400/kg in previous years.

She said the pumpkin price was to be set at Rs70-80/kg compared to Rs200-250 last year while the price of Cauliflower, peas, and eggplants was expected to stay under Rs100.

Lentils, including dal chana, dal maash and black gram, have seen a price decrease of almost Rs100 since October last year, she said, adding that masoor and moong’s cost only went up by a minimal margin. Butt said the price of flour was to be set at Rs1,680/10kg, a stark decrease from Rs2,710 previously. She added that baisan’s (gram flour) cost had also gone down by Rs75.

Addressing the sugar price hike, the Punjab official detailed that in coordination with sugar mills, the cost of sugar would be fixed at Rs130/kg, highlighting the Punjab government’s commitment towards alleviating financial strain on the people. She also added that most commodities could be found for marginally cheaper rates at Ramazan Sahulat bazaars, established all over Punjab.

“This is the first step we have taken and would like to move on to the next to make our efforts more sustainable,” she added.

Punjab minister defends ‘costly’ promotional supplement amid backlash

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari on Friday defended an eyebrow-raising 60-page newspaper supplement published in most national dailies by the Maryam Nawaz administration, dismissing criticism from the PTI as “propaganda”.

The supplement, published on Feb 26, highlighted the “achievements” of the Punjab government in its first year under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s leadership. However, it sparked widespread debate, particularly on social media, with PTI and other critics questioning the expenditure on public funds.

Former Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senator Farhatullah Babar took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to criticise the publication, calling it a “monstrosity at the public expense”. He also pointed out that the first 30 pages featured 170 photographs of Maryam Nawaz, describing it as a “monstrous disservice to her and her government”.

However, addressing the media, Azma Bokhari justified the publication, insisting that it was necessary to counter what she called “fake propaganda” surrounding the government’s performance.

“The performance of the Punjab government over the last year has been exemplary,” Ms Bokhari claimed. “It was impossible to go ‘door-to-door’ (by Maryam Nawaz) to make people aware of the government’s health and Kisaan cards and other initiatives. Therefore, the government published the supplement to spread awareness.”

In a veiled reference to the PTI, the minister said, “One political party and its workers were agitated by the performance of the Punjab government. The supplement was not about highlighting Maryam Nawaz, but it detailed the projects undertaken by the government under her leadership.”

Instead, Ms Bokhari criticised the advertisement supplement published by former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar of PTI.

“Buzdar’s supplement was an empty page because his party did not have any projects to be proud of,” she said. “During his government’s first 100 days, Buzdar published an empty page because they were busy in other things,” she remarked, alleging that PTI was engaged in corruption involving transfers, postings and scandals related to sugar and wheat.

She was referring to a 2023 case registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) against Bushra Bibi’s friend Farhat Shahzadi alias Farah Khan, who allegedly received millions of rupees from some bureaucrats for transfers and postings during Mr Buzdar’s tenure.

Ms Bokhari claimed that journalists — allegedly a part of the propaganda — had been receiving “instructions” to speak out against the supplement.

“From yesterday, they [PTI] have started this campaign ‘projects of Tehreek-i-Insaf, plaque of Maryam Nawaz,’” she said. “I have dissected the supplement published by PTI during its tenure — they owned all the projects mentioned therein, but none of the projects had any truth to it, nor was there any follow-up.”

She stressed that the municipal system and the government hospital’s dialysis programme were already present before PTI’s era.

“This dialysis programme was also not initiated by Buzdar’s (government) — it was started during Shehbaz Sharif’s time, because of which 1,100 people got their dialysis done in two weeks,” she claimed.

She also said that “slogans of air ambulance” had been chanted before during various governments, but Maryam Nawaz “actually implemented it”.

LHC petitioned

Meanwhile, a petition was filed in the Lahore High Court on Thursday, seeking action against PML-N President Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for allegedly misusing public funds for “personal and political promotion.”

The petitioner argued that Nawaz Sharif, despite being a member of the National Assembly, was using Punjab government resources for political activities. It further stated that public funds in Punjab should be allocated for welfare projects and job creation instead of political branding and dynastic promotion through extensive media advertisements.

Investigation is done the contractor turned out to be a PTI supporter and deliberately did this to ruin maryams reputation but since the contract says its 1 year guarantee on the paint the contractor will have to do the work again for free

Yes. I bet IK will be charged. Stop being so stupid to post this cr*p. You are guys really are thick. I bet BB was behind it all. Do you guys have any critical thinking skills or are just functionally illiterate?

BTW

Only yesterday the guy that killed the rangers on the 26th Nov was freed but IK has a murder charge against him.

You should be lucky imran khan is safe and sound in prison and that's the safest place for him instead of moaning about it what is he going to do after being released? His political career is over as you can see from the state of KPK and the pathans are running to punjab for work.

You never talk about progress in KPK? Why?

Instead of pointing what maryam is doing in Punjab why not tell us what buzdar did in Punjab and what is imran khan government doing in KPK

You have nothing to say

So we should be grateful that IK is locked up and being tortured. If it's such a good gig, give it a try.

I don't have to talk about KP because the KP people gave IK a 2/3rd majority. From that you can assume that things are going well🤣🤣🤣

Yes 2/3rd for the pathans voted pathan brother if kp is doing well why are the pathans running to punjab?

Keep crying your imran khan didn't get enough votes to form a government and his ego didn't let him join hands with plmn and ppp
So he is only a sore loser because he couldn't form a government

Yes everyone insulting should get the same treatment maybe your OK with people making fake nudes or ai videos hugging saudi man of you mum and sister but it's islamically and morally wrong to do it for any women so any one doing that stuff should get a wrap for it

In KP all the candidates were Pathans and if that was the only criterion then they could have voted for any of them.
