[PICTURES/VIDEOS] How does Virat Kohli get away with these sorts of performances?

I'd be so ashamed to death if he does in the next ODI WC i.e force his place in the team like what Miandad did in the 96' WC.
I did make a prediction that rohit and kohli might play 2027 wc and everyone at that time made a prediction that they'd tap out in 2024 🤣🤣.

Idk about rohit as 2025 ct might be the end, but kohli 1000% is playing 2027 wc. That i guarantee.

But I wouldn't be surprised for rohit either.

Knowing both of their attitude towards the game, I fear they will play the 2027 WC and screw us of our chances. I'm thankful to them for their service towards Indian cricket, but players need to know when to step aside.

I kinda lost my respect towards rohit tbh. I don't like him that much anymore.

Mainly cause It took Bumrah one test game to expose how medicore Rohit really was a captain.

The whole side is unprofessional, lazy, rude and just all over the place with him as captain. 90% of the time their isnt even a solid batting plan, everyone is just doing their own thing.

Not the case with bumrah who clearly understands test captaincy way better. Furthermore bumrah being a bowler knew how to set fields according to his own bowlers strengths.

I still enjoy classic hitman as a batsmen though, no qualms about that.

As for kohli, he's aged alot, forget his batting, he isn't even that proactive or friendly aggressive on the field anymore. Their was a time where he would celebrate even louder then the bowler who took the wicket. Now he just seems disinterested altogether. But i enjoy kohli as a personality. Good guy.

I want Bumrah as the Test captain immediately.

I respect Bumrah sooo much now. He and Travis head are now my 2 favourite players.

But I like Bumrah for his captaincy more. Quality bowler no doubt but as soon as I saw him captaining I was like this man is the man to lead.

I genuinely didn't expect him to be this good. I watched the test game and honestly what a captain? Bumrah can easily be the pat cummins( captain wise) of India.

And he's much better then Cummins as a bowler too. But his only issue is that he's atrocious as a batsmen so when it comes to leading, I dont expect him to play responsibly from that end. But it's fine. If the batters can't do their jobs then it ain't the bowling captains fault.

I need to him to get another low single digit score or a duck in the next innings. Hopefully that will be enough to get rid of him, same for Sharma also...

Not even Sourav Ganguly looked so hopeless from 2003 till the time he was sacked in 2005.

Since Virat is going through the same phase as Sachin in this series, should he look to just aim to get not out by completely cutting offside shots.

Your thoughts?

It's beyond him.

Send him on that Qantas long haul flight to the UK already. He is not in the Gavaskar/Sachin/Dravid league at all.

Kohli as a talent is up there with Sachin and Sunny G unfortunately his hunger for game has dwindled immensely which means it’s unlikely he will be able to get a second wind like post tennis elbow Sachin

When Sachin was Kohli's age he was already in the midst of the second wind in question.

Kohli is not even at 10,000 test runs.

With Sachin it was obvious it was more injury related dip with Kohli it’s a hunger and discipline issue since Covid unless he sorts that out mediocre returns will keep happening

Maybe the whole of India needs to sit on a hunger strike. And this is me speaking, the biggest fan of Kohli till 2018. A lean patch means a year or two, not for 6 long years.

It's always been a technical issue. He has no game square of the wicket on the offside.

Its a misnomer. Kohli isn't as talented as Sunny, let alone as Tendulkar. And did I mention in technique & temperament, he is nowhere close to these 2?

Sunil Gavaskar speaking about Virat kohli:

"If it was on the fourth stump I could understand."

"This was wide, on the seventh, eighth stump, you could say. There's no need to play that."

"He'd be very, very disappointed, he'd be very upset with that. Even before Rishabh Pant faced a ball, the rain started to come down and the covers have come on. If Kohli had shown a bit of patience he could be not out with KL Rahul."

He's averaging 31 in tests since the last 4 years btw.

65 innings and he's only got 3 centuries.

Nobody in Indina cricket history survived this long with that kind of numbers last 5 years. Nobody. His clout as a superstar has prolonged his career this long.

It's crazy how he went from sensational between 2015-2019 to pretty average since 2020. In the last 4-5 years he's been like Asad Shafiq. The odd good knock here and there but averaging mid 30s.
Steve Smith has also had a pretty poor slump but probably not as bad as Kohlis.
In 2019 he had what 28 test centuries, he was set to beat Tendulkar's 51 or atleast come close to that.

He is still the GOAT ODI player, but in tests there are countless greater batsmen that have played the game, not least in his own country.

Has not been the same since covid in red ball.
End of the next home series, or maybe the end of the England series next year would be a good time to bow out.

He is worth what 200 million dollar? Not sure if he has any motivation to fix his issues at this stage of his career. He just likes the limelight. That's the only explanation. You sure don't need anymore money. His one insta post makes 2 million dollar. He loves the idea of people cheering for him at the ground. No other explanation i can come with for his refusal to face the reality.

Kohli should retire.. there is no way BCCI is keeping him in the team for his performance. Just PR

Sunil Gavaskar's Unflinching Message As Virat Kohli Struggles For Form

With Virat Kohli struggling to get out of the rut, the Indian batting unit hasn't looked as powerful as it was expected to be in Australia. Over the years, Virat has done wonders Down Under, scoring runs for fun but the current tour has seen him getting out to similar deliveries time and again. India's batting great, Sunil Gavaskar, lent an important piece of advice as he tried to decode the struggles both Kohli and skipper Rohit Sharma have endured in Australia.

Speaking of the outside-off problem that continues to bother Kohli, Gavaskar feels the batter continues to try the cover drive as he has scored thousands of runs while attempting that shot. Gavaskar wants Kohli to dig into the archives and watch his own videos where he couldn't stop scoring tons.

"Look, he's scored thousands of runs through that extra-cover drive," Gavaskar told Hindustan Times. "It's something that is probably the best shot in the world today, the Virat Kohli extra-cover drive. Not so much the cover-drive, but the one that goes between mid-off and extra-cover. That's a wonderful shot to see. That's a full-face-of-the-bat shot. And because he gets so many runs from that shot, he's tempted to go for that because that's a very productive shot for him. Maybe that is the reason why he is looking to play over there and gets out. If you see, it's not that he has opened the face of the bat. It's not that he is looking to play to the covers. If that was happening, then you could say, hey, don't play towards cover. But it's a shot that has got him thousands of runs. Only this time, maybe the late movement is getting him out."

When asked what Kohli could do on the field to prevent himself from getting out in the same manner again, Gavaskar said: "That's up to him. It is really up to him, what he does."

"But you don't score X thousand runs in international cricket and get that many hundreds unless you know how to approach and build a Test innings. I am sure this one week will give him a lot of time to look at his dismissals. More than the dismissals, I would like him and even Rohit (Sharma, the captain) to look at all the innings where they have scored brilliant centuries. That is what is going to make them start believing. I want that positivity to come into their thinking rather than them thinking only about getting out to deliveries that are on the off-stump."

Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden pointed out the relatively easier conditions which Virat Kohli could expect in Melbourne, he said:

"There could've been magnificent wins, there could've been losses, there could've been spinning conditions - I mean, you can list off a hundred different areas where Virat Kohli, over his magnificent career, would have batted. But in Melbourne, he's going to have a good batting track. What he does need to do is find a way to continue staying at the crease. Flashing outside the off-stump is something that he's going to have to resist,"

"And I suggest - he gets in line with the ball a bit more and looks to play down the ground a little bit more. I know he's a magnificent cover driver, but so was Sachin Tendulkar, and he put it away for a day [Sydney's 241*]. I sat in the gully licking my lips, thinking, you know what, this is magnificent, stubborn batting. I didn't look like getting a catch that day, and yet I felt like I was in the game that entire series."

"So, Sachin put away the cover-drive, worked his way into the innings, hit off his legs beautifully, took on the spin, and addressed the areas of concern. He put a big cross through them and said, ‘not on my watch today’. Virat Kohli has got that personality, and I'm sure we'll see it in Melbourne,"

Not much has changed, it's just that his soft hundreds have become rare.
He never played crunch innings anyway.
