Navjot Singh Sidhu has criticized the Indian team management's decision to exclude captain Rohit Sharma from the crucial fifth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25

He is a clown for a reason.Mark Taylor was ultimately removed and thrown out .cricket has changed a lot . Availability of more options now means every one has to be on toes including captain .it's a good thing in sub continent culture to demand results the captain.Taking out babar and rohit by respective boards during mid series is a wonderful precedents for both countries future.

Lol, Sidhu says it doesn't matter what Rohit's form is once he is the captain. Spoken like a typical ex cricketer from subcon.

Sometimes I think India ex cricketers and Pakistan ex cricketers are poles apart in one aspect, well most of them anyway.

India's ex cricketers won't bad mouth current Indian cricketers especially if they are under the pump, like Rohit & Kohli currently are unless and until you are Yograj Singh.

However, its totally opposite in Pakistan camp. With an honorable exception of a few, most of them love to get back at current crop of Pakistan cricketers whenever given a chance.

Rohit has destroyed his reputation and whatever little legacy he had built with his T20 WC win and the approach he had for the 2023 WC..

Expect a few brain dead cult fans and some PR bots , he has been bashed up pretty bad by everybody in the last 2-3 months and rightly so. His "it's okay to lose once in 12 years" was the final nail in the coffin.

Same thing happened to Dhoni (2017-19) but atleast he wasn't the captain of the side where he was being picked just for that.

Mark Taylor feels India are hiding the truth by saying that Rohit Sharma 'opted-out' or has been 'rested' at the SCG:

“To be honest, that’s, what do I call that… that’s once again, sidestepping the point, the bottom line is the captain of a country does not opt out for the final Test match, the final deciding Test match of a series. He has been dropped and I don’t know why they just don’t say he’s been dropped. That doesn’t mean he’s dropped forever, it means he’s missing this match because he is out of form. That is unfortunately professional sports."

India's incumbent captain Rohit Sharma cleared the air surrounding his ouster from the crucial SCG Test, stating that he 'stood down' after talking to the coach and selector.

"The chat I had with the coach and the selector was very simple - runs weren't coming from my bat, form isn't there and this is an important match so we need players in form. Collectively, the batters are not in form so you can't carry many out-of-form players in the team," Rohit told the broadcasters during the Lunch break on Day 2 of the SCG fixture.

"This simple aspect was running through my mind. That's why I felt I should tell this to the coach and selector... that I am thinking this way. They backed my decision. They said you've been playing for so many years, you know what to do and what not to do. For me it was a difficult decision, but it was also a sensible decision. I didn't want to think too far ahead. The only thought was right now at this point what does the team need."

This is a big deal then. Always assumed he was politely dropped.

'We need an in-form player': Rohit adamant he opted out of Test

Rohit Sharma has opened up on his exit from the India Test XI for the final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series

A defiant Rohit Sharma says he made the call to drop himself for the fifth Test in Sydney, insisting he was not axed by selectors.

Speaking for the first time since falling out of India's side for the decisive Test at the SCG, India's captain also rejected any suggestion his career was over.

India had refused to say whether Rohit would play the fifth Test against Australia in the lead up, after a series where he has scored 3, 6, 10, 3 and 9.

His replacement as captain, Jasprit Bumrah, stated at the toss Rohit had "opted out" of the match and decided to "rest" from the series decider.

That was largely met with cynicism, given India must win in Sydney to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

But speaking at lunch on day two and with India fighting to stay in the Test, Rohit was insistent he had initiated the conversation with selectors.

"I had a chat with the coach and the selector was very simple," Rohit said on Star Sports coverage of the fifth Test.

"I am not making runs at the moment. I am not in form and it's an important game. We need an in-form player.

"Our batting order isn't in form at the moment. So out-of-form players can't carry the team at the moment.

"This was the simple thing in my mind. It was my understanding that I should tell the coach and the selector and they backed my call."

Rohit's absence has prompted questions over whether he will retire after the Sydney Test, with a battle ahead to break back into the team.

The 37-year-old has played 67 Tests for India, and led the team since 2022.

But across a miserable eight-Test run against Bangladesh, New Zealand and Australia in recent months, he has scored 164 runs at an average of 10.93

Rohit insisted he had not yet made the call to walk away.

"This is not a decision of retirement. I am not moving away from this game," Rohit said.

"But I took a decision to step away from this game because I was not able to score runs with the bat.

"There is no guarantee that I will score runs two or five months from now. I have seen a lot of cricket, every minute, every second and everyday life changes.

"I believe that things will change but at the same time I have to be realistic as well.

"People sitting in the commentary box, or writing with a laptop in their hands, will not decide how my life goes."

Former Australian opener Simon Katich, while talking to broadcasters, said he feels Indian captain Rohit Sharma's Test cricket career is over:

"Well, if you look at the numbers, they are damning. We saw it in this Test. It was very selfless of him to opt out of the Test. I saw in that interview, very well-spoken. There's no doubt he has a future after he is done playing cricket in stand-up comedy because his humor was very good."

"Only he knows whether he has the hunger and drive at 37 to go again. England is not going to be an easy series. England are on their way up. They have some good young quicks coming through. Gus Atkinson and Brydon Carse are doing well. I dare say that will be a tough tour if he chooses to go on it and the Indian selectors pick him, first and foremost. Those numbers are not for pretty reading. Test cricket isn't a place for 37-year-olds at the top of the order. History suggests that, and only Rohit Sharma knows whether he has got the hunger to go on."

Looking at his 4XL size, Im assuming there's still something left in him for limited-overs cricket.

Former Indian all-rounder Sanjay Bangar, who has worked with Rohit for a long time during his stint as India’s batting coach, feels that since Rohit is not retiring, he must earn his place in the Test side by scoring runs in domestic cricket, he said:

“When you are 37 years old and you see that you are not able to perform at the same level like before and you see young players performing better…he must have weighed these factors in his mind when he took that decision (to step aside from the fifth Test in Australia),"

“He has to find out whether he is still hungry for Test cricket, and if he is, then it should show in his actions, like playing domestic cricket, which has been talked about a lot."

“Even at this stage, he (Rohit) has expressed interest in playing for India, he has come forward and said, ‘I am not going anywhere; I still want to play.’ So, to follow that up, I am sure he will score big in domestic cricket; then nobody can stop him, but he has to show that form,"

“Cheteshwar Pujara also got dropped, so did Ajinkya Rahane, and their stature is in no way less or more than Rohit Sharma’s. They are on the same pedestal,"

“Rahane and Pujara are still breaking a sweat (in domestic cricket). Rohit has to show that kind of hunger,"

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar, while speaking on a sports media outlet:

"He has opted out on form (during the Sydney Test) and it is not like things are going to get easier. The next challenge is going to be England. It will be that same line outside the off-stump. That is a headache for the chairman of selectors. He has got to keep it simple and forget the effect those decisions will have. He will have to improve his defence and his counterattack game is not working."

"I don't think Rohit Sharma is making enough sacrifices to have one final burst - the kind of sacrifices Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar made at the end of their careers with regard to fitness and the preparation."

Navjot Singh Sidhu, during an interview with a local channel:

"Someone who has scored 80 centuries, and has close to 10,000 runs (Virat Kohli), no one needs to tell him anything. He will go home, watch the videos, and he will understand that his bat is playing away from the body. He will come up with a solution too. That's the same with Rohit."

"Comparing Rohit and Virat in terms of technique is very odious. He just has to work on his body fitness. He is a fantastic player, he is pure gold... How much have I met Rohit Sharma? Maybe 20 minutes on the ground during IPL. Today he wasn't able to play well against Australia, but in T20 World Cup it was this Rohit Sharma that hit Mitchell Starc for 3 sixes. Has everyone forgotten that? He is human after all. The more he practices, he will get better and better."

Rohit Sharma To Captain India During England ODI Series And Champions Trophy: Report

The Indian selection committee is expected to meet in a couple of days to finalise the squads for the upcoming white-ball matches against England at home and the Champions Trophy. It’s likely that Rohit Sharma will be remain India ODI captain for the ICC event scheduled for next month.

As per reports, Rohit’s dipping numbers in Test cricket will have no bearing on his ODI future and he will be announced as the captain whenever the India squads are named for the three-match ODI series against England at home and the Champions Trophy.

In the lead up to the marquee tournament, India will host England for a five-match T20I series followed by three ODIs.

Rohit had a tough tour of Australia where he led India in three Tests of the five-match series which the tourists lost 1-3. He managed just 31 runs in five innings at an average of 6.20.

While his slide in Test cricket might have raised concerns, Rohit remains an ODI behemoth. The last time he led India in an ICC tournament was the 2023 ODI World Cup where they finished runners-up. Rohit finished as the second-highest run-getter of the competition with 597 runs from 11 innings at an average of 54.27 and a strike-rate of 125.95.

Adam Gilchrist believes that Rohit Sharma has made his final appearance in the red-ball format for India:

"I don't see Rohit going to England. I just felt that he says he will assess it when he gets home. I mean, the first thing he will be met with when he gets home is a two-month-old baby that he has to change the nappies on. Now that might incentivise him to go to England. But I don't see him pressing on,"

"I think he'll probably have a crack at the Champions Trophy and that might be...that might see him out,"

It is disgusting to see how selectors don't do their job. It is not government job. You decide the selection based on the output. One might say it is a different format. But one could easily see his reflexes and Kohli's reflexes are gone for good. They are both late. You just don't have to wait for another embarrassment and take the call. THis cycle goes on forever

As per reports:

Rohit Sharma had made his decision to retire after the 4th Test of the BGT. But after talking to his family, friends and some former cricketers, he decided not to do so and try again. This didn't sit well with Gautam Gambhir.

Rohit Sharma Makes Captaincy Promise To BCCI In Meeting, Report Says He Will Quit After...

India's Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma spoke at length to the top bosses in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and chief selector Ajit Agarkar in a review meeting held on Saturday. India head coach Gautam Gambhir was also present in the meeting as the BCCI top brass sought response from the Indian team management over the recent run of results, particularly the 1-3 Border-Gavaskar series defeat to Australia and the 0-3 home sweep against New Zealand. In the meeting, it has been reported, that Rohit expressed his intentions of remaining the team's captain for a few more 'months'.

Questions over Rohit's long-term Test future intensified over the course of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, particularly because of his form with the bat. Rohit even decided to bench himself for the final match in Sydney, though India lost that encounter too.

During the meeting with BCCI, where Agarkar and Gambhir also expressed their views, Rohit is said to have told the board that he wants to remain the team's captain for a few more months. The BCCI, meanwhile, has been asked by Rohit to keep searching for a new captain.

According to a report in Dainik Jagran, during the meeting, the name of Bumrah as Rohit's long-term successor was proposed but there are a few who remain skeptical of his case. The particular doubt that was raised against Bumrah's case was his ability to lead the team in a 5-match Test series.

Bumrah was part of India's tour of Australia, where he featured in all 5 Tests, even leading the team in two of them. However, he sustained a back injury in the final Test at Sydney and didn't even bowl in the second innings.

Such fitness issues with the country's marquee pacer are bound to see the top bosses doubt his future as a long-term skipper.

Rohit wants to remain India's captain for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, following which the players would join their respective Indian Premier League franchises. After the end of the T20 league, India are scheduled to play England in a 5-match Test series. It isn't yet known whether Rohit will be the captain of the Test team for that event.

The BCCI could take decision on India's long-term captaincy during this phase.

But as per both above reports one thing was common. Rohit wants to retire as captain after few months .that guy really wants to stretch his luck.he wants to see his luck in ct and retire as greatest captain of India via his pr.

Gambhir pr was not expected by Rohit's team .issue with rohit is that he is not performing to use his pr .everyone wants him out and aus commentators ran a program asking to retire after Adelaide match. That's unprecedented even by aus standards .both rohit and kohli pr is quite silent now a days due to their atrocious batting.this is the first time Indian caoch have pr.so its very different tactics is required from anyone who wants to counter gambhir

If Rohit has an iota of self-respect left he should quit from all formats. CLinging onto captaincy will only further damage his name. He extensively used PR to get what he wanted. Now he is at the end of his rope. Jig is up. He should do the honorable thing.

Rohit Sharma to Play International Cricket Till Champions Trophy, Unlikely to Travel to England for Test Series

India captain Rohit Sharma was criticized for both his captaincy and his poor performance in the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, sparking discussions about his future in Test cricket. With the team out of contention for a spot in the World Test Championship, debates surrounding his retirement intensified. Despite brushing aside retirement talks during the Sydney Test, a report in Dainik Jagran suggests that the 37-year-old is unlikely to continue his international career beyond the Champions Trophy.

Rohit, who "opted out" of the series decider in Australia earlier this month, was speculated to have played his final Test. However, during an interview on Day 2 of the match, he clarified, saying, "I'm not going anywhere," thereby putting retirement rumors to rest.

Despite his statement, BCCI officials raised the issue during a review meeting in Mumbai on Saturday. While the board is not expected to make an immediate decision ahead of the Champions Trophy, the Hindustan Times reported that Rohit's performance continues to concern the selectors. Over the last three series, he scored just 164 runs at an average of slightly over 10, with only one fifty. Of these, 31 runs came during the Australia tour, where his average was a dismal 6.2— the worst by a touring captain in Australia.

A report in Dainik Jagran on Monday revealed that Rohit is expected to play his final international cricket in the Champions Trophy. The Indian team’s next assignment after the ICC tournament is a tour of England, where they are scheduled to play five Test matches as part of the new World Test Championship cycle. The report suggests that the possibility of Rohit being part of the squad for these five Tests is minimal.

Former Australia cricketer Adam Gilchrist shared a similar view during the last episode of the Club Prairie Fire podcast. “I don’t see Rohit going to England,” he said. “The first thing he will be met with when he gets home is a two-month-old baby that he has to change the nappies on. Now that might incentivise him to go to England, but I don’t see him pressing on. I think he’ll probably have a crack at the Champions Trophy, and that might be… that might see him out.”

Yup. That's what it seems like.

We may have seen last of Rohit in Test cricket.

It seems kohli got a lifetime for another 1 series . Ct and eng series should decide his future.

Rohit Sharma likely to attend Mumbai Ranji Trophy practice

Indian captain Rohit Sharma is likely to join the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team's practice session on Tuesday at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. The veteran batter has resumed training at the MCA-BKC ground, to prepare for the upcoming Champions Trophy. His participation in Mumbai's next Ranji Trophy league game against Jammu & Kashmir is still not confirmed.

Rohit’s return to the Mumbai squad comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) efforts to prioritise domestic cricket for national players, especially in the red-ball format. The Indian team’s struggles, including their disappointing performance in the Test series against Australia and failure to qualify for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, have prompted a call for players to be back in the domestic tournaments. Indian team coach Gautam Gambhir was vocal about the importance of domestic cricket.

“I would always like everyone to play domestic cricket. That is how much importance domestic cricket needs to be given. Not only one game, but if they are available and have the commitment to play red-ball cricket, everyone should play domestic cricket. It’s as simple as it can get. If you don’t give importance to domestic cricket, you will never get the desired players that you want in Test cricket,” Gambhir had said after India’s series defeat in Sydney.

For Rohit, who last played domestic red-ball cricket in 2015 against Uttar Pradesh, this is an opportunity to get back his form. His recent outings in Australia were underwhelming with scores of 3, 9, 10, 3, and 6 across four Test matches, averaging just 10.93. These

“He will be coming for practice sessions with the Mumbai Ranji Trophy team and it is still not decided whether he will be playing the next Ranji Trophy game against J&K. He will inform the MCA in due course,” a source in the MCA informed.

The BCCI has consistently encouraged players to feature in domestic cricket as a means to get back their form and address technical issues. Meanwhile, Shubman Gill, who also struggled in Australia, is set to feature for Punjab's clash against Karnataka.

Rohit Sharma said in a video posted by the MCA:

"Hello everyone! For 19th of January, Wankhede will be celebrating [its] 50th anniversary. It is a very proud moment for all the Mumbaikars, especially who are involved in Mumbai cricket for so many years. Personally, for me, I have a very special connection with this ground, so many memories. I started playing my age-group cricket at this very venue. Since then, it has been a wonderful journey."

"To see Wankhede grow over the years, when I played for the first time the whole stadium had its own charm. This venue has special memories involved with Indian cricket, Mumbai Indians and age-group cricket of Mumbai Cricket Association. I just want to wish everyone the best for coming years as well. Hopefully, we can create more and more memories at this venue."

Rohit Sharma, during the ICC Champions Trophy squad announcement press conference, confirmed that he will play in the Ranji Trophy when queried about his participation:

“Last 6-7 years, if you look at our calendar, we haven’t been sitting home for 45 days when cricket is going on. You do get time when IPL finishes when nothing happens after that. Our domestic season begins in October, ends till March. Guys who are not playing all formats and when there’s domestic cricket happening, they can play."

“For me personally, Since I’ve started playing Test cricket regularly since 2019, you hardly get time. When you play international cricket regularly, you need time off, just to refresh. Nobody takes it for granted."

Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane has backed an out-of-form Rohit Sharma, expressing his support during Mumbai's training session:

"See, Rohit is Rohit. We all know that. Aapko bhi pata hai Rohit ka character (You also know Rohit's character). I am really happy to have both of them back in the Mumbai dressing room."

"Rohit has always been relaxed. Even playing at the international level, his character is similar. His attitude is pretty much relaxed. He knows his game really well so, no one has to tell him what he needs to do."

"Once he gets in, I'm sure he will do well. He has never changed, which is a very good thing."

"What is important is (that) he is hungry, he is determined to do well. I am sure once he gets in, he will get a big one."

"He batted really well yesterday (in) a couple of sessions so it's part and parcel of a player's career. I am really confident about Rohit."

"I think he's only playing this game; not sure about the next game. His inputs in the next four days will be really important."

Goat aka Pr master perished on 3 again 🤣.Kashmir unknown bowler worked him for 2 overs . he tried a slog and perished. Ominous signs for india before ct.at this rate he cant even bully archer/wood in pp and escape with selfless intent drama.

How late he is against Jammu kashmir team bowler of all the teams lol. Somebody has to give him an option of voluntary retirement. He was late similarly against Henry, Cummins. Somebody has to yell at him "You are old now"

At least they turned up, even though it took some kicking and screaming.

Did a big favor by playing Ranji Trophy :ROFLMAO:

:kp

Left to them, these princesses will only play useless IPL games, and the token international games to keep their stock fresh for the next IPL auction.

If Kohli had played he would have been brutally exposed by domestic bowlers. He stands no chance against them. He bailed out with injury reason.

He is making fool of himself .he retired after mcg and backtracked in middle of scg test.i dont think he will retire unless thrown out.Agarkar seems to be completely backing rohit as fellow Mumbaikar. kohli is also on the same line.

Looks like newer bunch of fans on social media don't even know the difference between a lean phase and terminal decline. I can guarantee they'll still back Rohit and Kohli even if they keep producing single digit scores for another couple of years calling it a 'lean phase'.

Rohit again gone for 28(35) blasting 3 sixes and 2 fours. He is not even trying to survive in a test match.Guy should retire before ct from all formats if he has any shame left .he is killing the team.

He has already played the last test so no problem for us .

He is not going to play long inning in champion trophy either but can Play a cameo in PP just like World T20 2024 .

I am not sure about his last test match. He must have skipped ranji game , if its already decided .

I don't think he can play any effective innings any more in odis. Every one knows he will be desperate to attack in pp as he cant play beyond that and he will try to hoick. In short ,It's shahid afridi case. Bowlers have to be intelligent. Classic test match bowling should set him up in odis.

Rohit is officially is not even fit to play for his own domestic team lol He has conclusively proven. One of the strongest team Mumbai can put out (atleast on paper) played and lost to Jammu Kashmir. It was a comprehensive loss. Would have been destruction had Shardul thakur not batted well. Hope he never plays for India again.

On Rohit Sharma's Return To Ranji Trophy, Mumbai Achieve EMBARRASSING Feat For First Time In 10 Years

Jammu and Kashmir stunned reigning Ranji Trophy Champions Mumbai, as they defeated them in the premier Indian domestic first-class tournament after 10 long years at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy in BKC, Mumbai. The underdogs won the match by a margin of 5 wickets.

Rohit Sharma could not perform well with the bat as well he scored 4 and 23 in both the innings.

Rohit Sharma files complaint with BCCI over Sunil Gavaskar’s harsh criticism of captaincy: Report

Despite joining the squad for the second Test after missing the first due to paternity leave, Sharma’s performance fell short, and India’s series performance, despite a win in Perth under Jasprit Bumrah's leadership, took a downward turn.

India’s Test captain Rohit Sharma had a challenging tour of Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25, struggling with the bat and his leadership. Despite joining the squad for the second Test after missing the first due to paternity leave, Sharma’s performance fell short, and India’s series performance, despite a win in Perth under Jasprit Bumrah’s leadership, took a downward turn.

Sharma managed just 31 runs across three Test matches, averaging a mere 6.00. This lackluster performance led former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar to criticize Sharma’s approach both as a batsman and as a captain. Gavaskar also expressed concerns about Sharma’s absence from the Sydney Test, casting doubts over his future in red-ball cricket. He even suggested that it might be time for someone else to take over the captaincy for the team’s betterment.

He made his team weak

How times change. Rohit Sharma really was a respected leader. During the 2023 CWC he really elevated himself as a batter and as captain in everyone’s eyes despite the heart break in the final and later when he lead the team to ICC T20 2024 victory he was at the top of the world. But it seems like the T20’world cup win brought the worst in him and a few other players. He became fat. His loose talking went out of hand. Looks like a gully cricketer these days with his looks and approach and see the daring (or rather shamelessness) of complaining against arguably the greatest ever test batsman post Bradman while himself averaging 6 in a test series. He’s ruining his legacy and I hope someone close to him has a word with him about that before it gets worse. For his services I want to remember him for the good, not for the nonsense that is going on in the last 6 months or so.

Rohit is setting a dangerous precedent here.As a non performing shameless captain , he is trying to suppress the noise by aggression. This is beyond pathetic and shameless to hit back at ur critics than with his performance .He seems to be living in fools paradise to think like a foolish dictator.

The Hardik Mumbai captaincy controversy with Rohit being silent in hindsight is looking worse

As per ct selection process reports, rohit was adamant for gill as vc where gambhir was vying for pandya.seems rohit is having typical feudal lord/zamindar mentality and he wants to step down on his own terms than team's Interests.

The guy he replaced was 17 year old Ayush Mhatre who made a brilliant 116 runs in the last innings. Very similar to what he is doing with national team. Same result as well. So far Ayush has made 465 runs at an average of 65. This guy twice the age of Ayush took his spot and ruined his team's chances as well.

Shubman Gill has hailed Rohit Sharma for his ‘game-changing’ batting revolution, he said:

“The way Rohit bhai has been batting in the ODIs in the past one year and a half, it’s been really game-changing for us, taking the momentum right through from the start and taking the game away form ball one and it makes the job of the non-striker and the batsmen coming in a bit easier and I think it has helped our team a lot."

Seems mota bhai will retire after ct. Seems kohli is not going anytime soon. That's quite bad.he will be given opportunity for eng test series and his odi form is not worrying (😠)

Rohit Sharma, while addressing the press conference ahead of the 1st ODI against England, responds to questions about his form and retirement rumours:

"What kind of a question is that? This is a different format, different time. As usual, as cricketers, we know there will be ups and downs and I have faced a lot in my career so this is nothing new to me. We know every day is a fresh day, every series is a fresh series.”

"How it is relevant that I talk about my future plans when there are three ODIs and a Champions Trophy. The reports (on my future) are going on for a number of years and I am not here to clarify those reports."

"For me, the three games (against England) and the Champions Trophy is very important. My focus is on these games and I will see what happens thereafter."

Ahead of the first game, India's captain will have the chance to not only find his batting rhythm but also etch his name in the history books among some elite leaders, who have graced the game of cricket. In the same regard, he will be chasing an exemplary record with a chance to surpass the former Pakistan captain and legend, Imran Khan. If he manages to score daddy centuries during the upcoming series against England at home, he will be among the elite skippers who have led their nations from the front with their batting fireworks.

Speaking of Khan, the former all rounder went on to score an impressive 5,655 runs during his illustrious international career. When it comes to Rohit, he is only 293 runs behind Imran, as he has piled up 5,363 runs as a captain.

He is finished , I can't wait how he is going to embarrass himself in the champion trophy.
:kp

Unfit captain got 30 runs where as bumrah got 31 wickets in bgt series. No way he can surpass imran. At Max he can score 50s by bullying in pp.If the bowling is good he can't buy a run anywhere.

Now gill knows he is in contention for the captaincy role along with pandya for odis.gill will definitely try to stat pad or take it slow .rohit can't bat beyond pp and can't bat slow to sabotage his own pr selfless intent drama .Pandya will try to do his own.very interesting times for players but india will be the loser till the new captain.

U mean the first person to bat for india?.absolutely yes. :misbah
Well, that is one way to take that sentence...LOL

ROhit is finished but he comes good in big events generally so that is why I think he might do a better job.

I'm certainly not going to want him to fail in the CT. That's not who I am. I might want a player to retire or be dropped, but once he is selected in the squad for a series, I'll 100% back him to do well. Wanting him to fail would hurt my team's chances in that series.

What I'll now say is I want him to retire or be dropped after the CT.

If he does well or Indian wins ct both kohli and rohit will prolong til 27 odi wc with out any shame. Even now both of are unapologetic after test series humiliation.

This is most of indian fan's wish but unfortunately rohit has reached at the stage where he can't score any runs .

He can only Play a cameo in the pp.this is his highest celling in international cricket or even domestic .

He'll be 38 this April. Even Brian Lara and Glenn McGrath retired at the age of 38 and 37 respectively.

How long does he want to play? Until his blind fans give up hope on him as well?
