Lets see what Umran can do on this pitch. He can travel on this pitch if he does not get it right.

Naman seems to be another great find for MI.

Nehal Wadera is getting wasted in MI. Perhaps he can find a better home in some other team.

The match really poised at the moment. MI 119/2 after 9 overs. Let's see what Pandu could do later on.

Record Alert

34 sixes already in this match! 6⃣

The most in an IPL game in the history of IPL 🔥

The chase was over when Tilak Varma got out.

Pandya and Tim David never looked like chasing this. Struggled to time the ball. They could not even hit Unadkat.

It is SRH v MI and still the joke is on RCB. Their highest score record is gone but their lowest score record still intact 😆..

So in the end did hardik play match losing knock? (Didn't watch 2nd innings)

The Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to get their first points of the season as beat the Mumbai Indians by 31 runs.

Despite the high total on the board, Mumbai Indians started strong with the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan going off in the powerplay. Despite the loss of the openers, Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir looked to put MI in the game with regular boundaries till the middle-stages. But regular wickets coupled with the lack of runs meant that the home side came out on top.

Heinrich Klaasen top-scored with an unbeaten 80 as SRH broke the record for the highest-ever team total in IPL history by posting a mammoth 277/3 against Mumbai Indians tonight. Travis Head set the tone by setting the record for quickest fifty by an SRH batter, getting to the milestone inside the Powerplay before Abhishek Sharma bettered it with a blistering fifty of his own.

After losing their previous encounters by the barest of margins, they will look to have something on the points column when they lock horns on Wednesday night in Hyderabad.

The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League opened to blockbuster viewership numbers with 16.8 crore viewers tuning in to watch the season's first game between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 22, the tournament's official broadcaster said on Thursday. Disney Star said the opening day also registered a watch-time of 1276 crore minutes -- the highest-ever for the first day of any season. The watch-time minutes are a compilation of the time spent by each viewer in watching the game.

The 17th season of IPL also witnessed the highest-ever peak TV concurrency for an opening day, with 6.1 crore viewers watching the broadcast simultaneously on the Disney Star network.

"Disney Star had recorded 870 crore minutes on the IPL's opening day in 2023. In comparison to the previous edition, there is a growth of 16 per cent in TV consumption," the company stated.

Defending champions Chennai Super Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by six wickets in the season-opener in Chennai.

"This growth is a reaffirmation of the incomparable capacity of Live Cricket to aggregate audiences on TV and provides a blockbuster start to the tournament. We will continue to enrich the magic of one of the world's biggest sporting events to take forward the launch momentum and deliver unprecedented viewership," a Star Sports spokesperson said in a press release.

The channel said that the record-breaking TV viewership on the opening day comes on the back of an array of programmes in the lead-up to the 17th season which attracted more than 24.5 crore viewers till a week prior to the start of the tournament.

In the digital space, JioCinema clocked 11.3 crore viewers on the first day of the IPL.

The streamer claimed that it registered a 51 per cent jump over day one of IPL 2023. The total watch time on JioCinema on day 1 was 660 crore minutes.

Whoever is in charge of marketing IPL among fans, they are doing a tremendous job. I have not read fan pages in previous years, but the emotional attachment that fans have made to their franchise teams is unbelievable. Never thought people will be so attached to their teams so much. Hats off to all the IPL franchises and their PR teams.

He could not time anything along with Tim David. Once Tilak got out, no one was able to time the ball let along hit a boundary. For 4 overs, they could not hit a boundary. Even Unadkat bowled like Wasim in his prime.

Hardik Pandya is under tremendous pressure to win and it is showing in his performances. He is trying too hard and fans are trolling him to no end.

Left-arm seamer Jaydev Unadkat has made a significant mark in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Known for his skilful seam and swing bowling, Unadkat achieved a remarkable milestone during the recent exciting clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday, March 27.

Unadkat's journey in the IPL has been truly extraordinary, as he has become the first Indian player to represent eight different franchises. The 34-year-old speedster, now a key addition to the Sunrisers line-up, has embarked on this remarkable journey through the IPL landscape.

So, how does India international matches compete with this? Is it even possible? It's like bringing a knife to gun fight. Not even fair!

I feel the support for franchises is on par with the support to the Indian National team. Especially for teams like RCB, CSK, KKR and MI. Fans are totally insane and they are ready to go to war to defend their franchise team.

GT seems to have started off well too. RR also has a very good support. DC is moderate although Pant bring lots of people to stadiums..

Among die hard cricket fans IPL has same level of support as national team, but the loyalty going to franchise. But among casual watchers IPL wins hands down. Only purists seem to detest IPL. I never seen so many cricket related videos, stats, memes in our WhatsApp group as i see during IPL. Last year it was a lot, and this is it is crazy. Funny thing is a lot of women who hardly watch cricket otherwise suddenly become cricket fans during summer. Moreso among housewives, may be because they have vacation along with their kids. It's really amazing how well they IPL has been marketed. I personally never thought the fans will have so much loyalty towards local cities.

Helps that we have a federal structure. I was told Ranji trophy used to hold such values back in the day.

Ranji never had this kind of craze among causal cricket fans. We certainly used to follow it, and still do. But most fans would struggle to identify every player in their local ranji team. Some matches against big teams like Mumbai, Karnataka and even Railways used to be followed by fans and media. Overall this craze is something else..

I meant in the 70s.. I have followed it since 1990s and it was boring until 2010s when it became interesting.

Ganguly is the Director of Cricket Operations for Delhi Kings. He explained he is responsible for the Franchises Cricketing Operations for all the young players, women cricketers.

Apart from Aqib Javed, how many of our legends have been appointed by the PSL Franchises in a 365 day Director of Cricket Role? Wasim Akram is apparently the so called President of Karachi Kings, A Sports but everyone knows he doesn't devote his full time attention to these roles. The PCB needs to insert some very strict clauses in the revised contracts offered to the PSL Franchises.

Since Jaiswal's debut, he has had the highest Strike Rate (S/R) in the IPL as an opener:

148.51 - P Shaw
145.49 - Y Jaiswal
144.04 - J Buttler
141.82 - I Kishan
140.63 - M Agarwal
139.99 - F du Plessis
138.21 - D Conway
137.01 - Q de Kock
136.03 - R Gaikwad
134.60 - S Gill

Riyan Parag looks like a completely different batsman this year. In the previous years, he was just a 10-15 runs player before he plays some stupid shot. Seems to have matured quite a bit.

Finally parag scoring runs in ipl just like how he bat in domestic cricket hope he get 400 plus runs in this season

Tremendous stuff from Parag, thoroughly impressed with how he weathered the storm early on and then exploded effectively at the end. Pakistan does not have a single batsman who can do this. Who in our domestic circuit or even the PSL can bash Nortje for 3 fours and 2 sixes in an over?
