[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Litton Das - The Bangladeshi superstar

Hahaha shehzad better than kohli!!! Coming from a pakistani kohli is better than 3 shehzads. Only players who will be better are azhar ali, haris sohail and maybe babar. And who the hell is litton das? Look im happy for bangladesh but you guys need to keep quiet and try winning or even drawing and odi series outside bd..

This thread is stupid.. Next thing you know bengalis will compare litton das to bradman which is an insult.... To litton das :don

Virat Kohli is better than all BD batsman in their history of cricket and probably the greatest ODI batsman from Asia in the last decade.
Have not seen much of Das but he needs to be very good to be compared to Kohli.
OP can you share some stats?

This thread was opened in response to the Amir thread to troll Indians, anybody who are taking it seriously need some crash courses in sarcasm....asap

Ok did not realize that. But there was no sarcasm from my side on the Amir vs Mustazifur thread. Thats a pretty valid and genuine comparison, only if people think about it rationally without getting hyper.

Bradmanesque odi average of 20! Looks like they produce kohli in numbers

The quality of PP threads is at an all time low

son don try to act over smart, u do know what your intentions were.. you're just a hater who's trying to be extra smart with his justifications and stupid threads. baaaaz aaaja.

people are not getting the sarcasm here.

I don't think any BD fan opened this :shakib

I removed "Liton Das better than Virat Kohli" from the thread title because I assume OP was trying to troll. Liton Das may be a Bangladeshi superstar but Virat Kohli is a well established batsman, probably one of the top batsmen in Asia overall.

Too early and really you're trolling if you're comparing Virat Kohli to Liton Das :)

Litton Das has performed against the best bowling attacks in the world - SA and Pak are case in point (though pakistan not so much). Whereas Kohli generally fails when faced with quality pace that moves both ways.

Maybe if we put all the hype aside and think rationally and with no bias, we will see the greatness of Litton Das.

Virat to Litton or Litton to Virat? :)

litton das didn't even play against Pakistan :)))

Any more "Liton Das is the best player in the world"

"Liton Das is better than Virat Kohli"

"Liton Das is better than any other experienced player"

posts and thread will be deleted. Because none of those statements are true. :)

its not about these things being true. its about people making such threads to make a mockery

Bangladesh's best batsman is left out because of this guy, there must be something that the oracle sees in him. He's the ONE.

This is the guy Amir was bowling the first over to right ??
He needs to improve a lot if he is to be a superstar , couldn't touch a delivery with the bat .
Tbf that was a top over but still better than kohli is a massive massive exaggeration on first viewing .

Litton Das has a lot of potential but he needs to sort out his mindset in the powerplay. He doesn't need to play any extravagant shots.

Most of his better innings, even in BPL came where he played maturely, in the other matches he played like afridi. BTW, no one rated him as the next kohli, he is more to the Rohit sharma of the old rather than anything else

Litton Crocodile Das is not 'The Bangladeshi Super-star'. He never was.
At present Mustafizur can be the only candidate among the younger BD players who can be tagged as The BD Superstar. Even Soumya is quite behind to be a Superstar in Bangladesh Cricket. And Litton..It's not Pakistan that a Batsman of 14 ave in LOIs and 30 something at Tests will be hailed as Superstaar. :maqsood
OP is delusional.

When Amir was bowling to Liton, it looked like Nehra was batting :nehra

Most talented kid in BD, what a joke. He will be another Kopali/ Shuvagoto Hom

He needs to retire and meditate, get his act right and return to International level after a couple of years.

Debut boy batting really well..

Showing aggression, has solid defense, looking positive and good looking too:srt

Go and propose him!

Liton can keep right? He should be playing over Mushfiq.

Yes better keeper than Mushfiq as well, Mushfiq is probably related to someone in BCB hence getting selected in T20 team. I can't believe Mushfiq is the Team captain, captain should be Ashraful in T20 and Soumya for Test.

Notice how players not in the squad are always the best players?

Liton Das can bench press 200 Kg and Squats 500 Kg, the guy has put on muscles now, hit Rubel Hossain for six sixes in the net. He plays spinners with his eyes closed, once the team needed 40 to win of 2 overs and Liton finished the game with 5 balls to spare, that's how good he is.

Lol Soumya isn't ready for captaincy yet. I would give it to Mahmudullah in all formats.

Yes I agree but then again we have politics in the Bangladesh team, if we give captaincy to Riyadh and drop Mushfiq from T20 team, he will come the the media and look for sympathy. Mushy and Riyadh are related as Riyadh married Mushy's sister in law :farhat

A serious talent , much better than anyone but Shabbir in the current Bangla linup . One batsmen they should be persisting with , give him a good run of 20 matches . Get rid of Saumya , who is not a long term solution imo

He is a beast in ODI's, can't drop him. He is the sole reason why we won against Pakistan and South Africa. He is the Haydos of Bangladesh cricket.

Well , hes over achieved already . He wont survive too long with that technique .

Is this for real? He should be in the BF weightlifting team in Olympics then:)

Liton needs to come back and replace Sabbir Rahman

Need the superstar back and performing for Tigers

One first has to be a star, before becoming a superstar. When did Liton Das become a star first ?

Liton Das, who is likely to be Tamim Iqbal’s opening partner in Bangladesh’s Asia Cup campaign, is hoping to make the most of the opportunity if it comes his way.

Das has played just 12 one-day internationals and 15 Twenty20 Internationals – apart from 10 Tests – but his returns have been moderate at best: An average of 15.00 in ODIs and 18.80 in T20Is.

But the 23-year-old’s last innings, a smashing match-winning 32-ball 61 against the Windies in the deciding match of the T20I series away in Lauderhill, has put him in the frame as Tamim Iqbal’s possible opening partner in the United Arab Emirates despite not having played an ODI since October 2017.

“This is a good opportunity. I have been out of the ODI team for a long time and If I get a chance then I will try to do well,” Das said on the sidelines of the Bangladesh team’s preparatory camp in Dhaka on Wednesday, 5 September.

“Being a regular in the team is different, but nothing can be better than performing well. We have two matches in the Asia Cup ahead of us [in the group stage] and they are very important.”

With Iqbal having changed his approach in limited-overs cricket to a more measured one, trying to bat long instead of going for too many shots early on, the onus is very much on his partner – whoever it is – to provide the innings early impetus.

The match-winning innings in the final T20I against the Windies has strengthened Das' case The match-winning innings in the final T20I against the Windies has strengthened Das' case
“Along with staying at the crease for as long as possible, you have to score runs as well. And if you want to score runs, you'll have to play some shots. Different batsmen play differently – I like to play aggressively and I will continue this way,” promised Das.

“Only one ball is enough to get out and I'm working on perfecting my shots. The best cricketers play big innings if they can start well. I haven't become a big cricketer yet, maybe that's the reason I am not being able to play big innings. I am trying to do something good, so that I can make more runs.”

Bangladesh start their Asia Cup campaign with a game against Sri Lanka in Dubai on 15 September, the opening day, followed by a clash against Afghanistan, in Abu Dhabi, on 20 September.

Why is he batting at number 7 position when he is a top order batsman averaging 50 + in domestic ? I am unable to understand it . Anybody ??

Finally.

3 years later he delivers. After series of failures in all international formats Liton Das performs that too on big stage.

Hats off to BD selectors and team management for persisting with him.

On the other hand we have mistreated guys like Umar Amin, Sami Aslam and Nauman Anwar by constantly dropping them and giving them no confidence. Especially Umar Amin.

Once you spot talent than give it a long rope. Consistent chances.

Quality knock today. As good as Fakhar's. Maybe better in terms of quality cuz Fakhar had a few slogs. Will it be as impactful as Fakhar remains to be seen. But superb knock either way.

What a high quality 100 today in a big final, pity the clown umpire stopped him from getting a well deserved 150. He doesn't deserve to end in the losing side tonight after that brilliant effort.

AF5F3CF0-D500-4B94-A146-22BEA9C307B6.jpgLiton, Mosaddek, Sabir & Tamim are a class apart from other BD batsman and should be batting in top 5 slots all the time.

Late rise for Litton in Int Cricket but he showed that he is A* batsman in a playing eleven of B, C and D grade batsman.

He won’t mind being in the company of Jayasuriya and Sehwag. A class batsman is born finally in BD.

Seeing how the other batsmen failed on this pitch, Liton can hold his head high.

Inexperienced youngster
Poor form heading into this match
Asia Cup Final against 2nd ranked team in the world
India playing full strength bowling attack
Indians fielding at high level
Very good bowling with maestro Dhoni applying his legendary squeeze tactics
Wickets tumbling at the other end

He scores 121(117) before being wrongly given out. Surely must rank as one of the greatest ODI innings by a Bangladeshi batsman.

Nothing clownish about the call. The bloke was out and the camera confirmed it, plain and simple.

I pity BD fans who just can't let it go.

Today Litton showed he is the most talented batsman in BD lineup, way better than tuk tuk Imrul Kayes.

However, he needs to learn from Tamim how to play longer innings.

my world cup 2019 squad as of today:

1. Litton Das
2. Tamim Iqbal
3. Saumya Sarkar(inform)
4. Mushfiqur Rahim
5. Sakib Al Hasan
6. Mahmuddllah
7. TBD
8. Mehidy Hasan
9. Mashrafe Mortaza
10. Rubel Hossain
11. Mustafizur rahman

Players first become stars and then superstars. In Bangladesh, players directly become superstars even before they achieve anything of note.

What a knock yesterday, I really though he was going to smack 6 6s in that Gabriel over, so pleasing to watch.

Watched him first time I think. Reminded me of Ashraful. A player whose career was as disappointing as Umar Akmal's. Hope Liton has a better career.

Litton Das is one of the most talented players in the world and definitely the most talented batsman in Bangladesh. He is a underachiever but mind you he is an absolute beast when he gets going.

Litton is one of those batsman who has the apetite of scoring big and scoring them quickly without slogging too much. He is a lethal weapon in our arsenal. If yesterday was a fluke, then people didn't see how Litton smashed Bumrah BK and Chahal - arguably the best bowling attack in the world on a slow pitch scoring a century of 70 something balls.

However, he needs to be consistent but in the last 2 years he has been performing more often and he is winning us games.

Litton has similarities with Rohit sharma. Lazy elegance except Litton moves around the crease a bit more. Both had poor starts to their career but if Litton can become even 3 quarters as good Rohit sharma, id be stoked.

94 from 69 in your debut innings in the CWC. Take a bow

We need to open with Liton and Soumya, this will be our most destructive pair and Liton can take better use of Powerplay than Tamim. Tamim can come at 4 after Shakib.

1. Liton (wk)
2. Soumya
3. Shakib
4. Tamim
5. Mosaddek
6. Riyadh
7. Sabbir
8. Shafiuddin
9. Mehedi
10. Rubel
11. Mustafiz

We just need to find two express swinging fast bowlers and a spinner who spins the ball who can replace Shaf, Rubel and Mehedi.

Bangladeshi fans regard any Bangladeshi player as a superstar, even if that player would not find a place in the playing XI of other cricket teams. Liton Das falls in that category. He has scored just one international century and he is already a superstar to Bangladeshi fans ! Kedar Jadhav has scored more international centuries than him but no one regards Kedar Jadhav as a superstar.

126* (retd hurt) so far vs Zimbabwe in 1st ODI

He did well today but he generally flops against big teams. He needs to repeat this against Pakistan and other top teams.

Very impressive!

176 off 143 balls vs Zimbabwe!

He is failing when it really matters.

Bullying Zimbabwe is not really a big deal.

Let's hope that he does well against big teams.

He had a 120 vs India and a 94* vs West Indies in the world cup.

Hope he becomes consistent

So Rizwan missed his stumping chance when he was on 8 and he went on to score a 50.

I wonder why nobody is talking about this…
