PTI finalises plan for November 24 protest

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalized its strategy for a large-scale protest on November 24, with plans to 'storm' Islamabad from all directions as reported by Express News.

According to sources, the PTI leadership is determined to reach Islamabad at any cost, and significant responsibilities have been assigned to the party's leadership in Islamabad and Rawalpindi regions.

Sources indicate that the protest will begin with regional leadership organizing mass demonstrations in Rawalpindi and Islamabad until the convoys from other provinces arrive.

PTI has assigned separate routes for each provincial convoy, with the final destination being Islamabad. The leadership is yet to decide on the exact location of the sit-in once they reach the capital.

The party has emphasised that the protest will continue indefinitely, and the core committee members have suggested the possibility of staging the sit-in at D-Chowk.

In preparation, PTI's leadership has instructed its members of the National Assembly (MNAs) and Provincial Assembly (MPAs) to bear the travel expenses of their constituents, ensuring that party workers from across the country can join the protest in Islamabad.

PTI's leadership has developed a detailed plan to manage the logistics and strategy of the protest, which sources claim is more refined and strategically sound than previous demonstrations.

In the event of arrests, a backup plan (Plan B) will be activated, and alternative leaders will take over the leadership roles for any detained MNAs or party officials.

Sources said that the party has prepared a surprise for the federal government, with a more organized approach for this protest compared to earlier ones.

law enforcement agencies on Saturday launched a crackdown on party leaders and workers.

Multiple raids were conducted late at night across Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Lahore, resulting in the detention of several PTI members.

CCTV footage of police raids has surfaced, showing officers targeting the residences of PTI leaders.

Secretary General of NA-48 Raja Ghazanfar was reportedly arrested, while a raid was carried out at the residence of central leader Shoaib Shaheen.

In Lahore, heavy police contingents stormed the house of Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed.

According to his son, Dr Hassan, the elder Rasheed has been incarcerated for the past 18 months, yet police continue to raid their home. "The house is occupied only by my mother, while I am in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa," he said while criticising the repeated harassment.

PTI faces crackdown ahead of Nov 24 protest

Meanwhile, K-P Advisor on Information Barrister Saif declared that the November 24 protest would proceed as planned, rejecting any speculation about a deal with the establishment. "This is the time for resistance. PTI's founder has given a clear directive that demands must be met," he asserted during a press briefing.

He added that preparations under K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur's supervision are in full swing, with meetings and consultations held over the past three days involving MNAs, MPAs and organisational leaders.

Barrister Saif also defended Imran Khan's spouse and former first lady Bushra Bibi, calling her a "respectable citizen of Pakistan" with no involvement in practical politics beyond meeting the PTI founder.

He also denied allegations of utilising provincial machinery for protests and highlighted that the previous rally's inclusion of Rescue 1122 vehicles was due to the chief minister's participation.

On the other hand, K-P Governor Faisal Karim Kundi lambasted the provincial government's focus on rallies rather than governance, arguing that protests will not lead to the release of PTI's founder.

Bushra Bibi urges for youth’s participation in November 24 protest

According to sources, Bushra Bibi met with the ISF and Youth Wing leaders ahead of the planned protest. The meeting was attended by Meena Khan, Shahid Khattak, and Sohail Afridi.

During the meeting, Bushra Bibi conveyed Imran Khan’s message in which he expressed high hopes from the youth, as per the sources.

In addition, Bushra Bibi held separate meetings with some party officials. She also met with Gul Zafar, a leader from the Bajaur agency, and praised his contributions to the party on behalf of the PTI founder.

In a similar statement, leader of opposition and PTI’s leader Omar Ayub said that the time has come for the people to respond to the call for protest. He urged the public to head towards Islamabad to express their love and support for Imran Khan.

Ayub emphasised that the protestors would not back down until their demands were met. “We have wrapped our heads in shrouds and answered the PTI founder’s call,” said Omar Ayub, reaffirming their commitment to the protest.

It is pertinent to note that the incarcerated Imran Khan announced the final date for a protest in Islamabad.

The PTI founder’s sister Aleema Khan broke the news in front of the media after holding a meeting with Imran Khan. Aleema Khan stated that her brother has decided on November 24 as the date for the final protest in the federal capital.

She claimed that the PTI’s mandate was stolen on February 9 and selected people were given the power who in return deprived people of their rights after the 26th amendment.

On November 9, KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur said that he would not return home until the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Addressing a public gathering in Swabi, the chief minister also vowed to secure the release of Imran Khan at the earliest. Ali Amin Gandapur said that the PTI leaders are ready to sacrifice their lives for the PTI founder’s release.

“We won’t stop until the PTI founder is freed, even if it means losing our life,” he added.

Ali Amin Gandapur said that to achieve ‘Haqeeqi Azadi’ (real freedom) and hold accountable those responsible for injustices, they have to make sacrifices.

Referring to the decision-making authority within the PTI, the chief minister said that only Imran Khan has the power to make decisions in the party.

“We are united, and together we have to move forward.”

PTI protest aimed at Imran Khan's release: Asad Qaiser

Former National Assembly speaker and senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser has stated that the protest scheduled for November 24 is aimed at securing the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Talking to Dunya News programme "Baat Nikle Gi", Asad Qaiser criticised the current parliament, stating it holds no real significance. He mentioned that they had achieved certain goals with Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the 26th amendment, but even with his support, the government could not secure the required numbers.

Qaiser also clarified that Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, would be part of their movement and dismissed the notion that she intended to take over the party.

“PTI is a political party, not a military force, and their protest will be peaceful,” he said. He called for the release of all PTI prisoners, including Imran Khan.

“I am a political worker who believes in political struggle,” Qaiser stated. He called for true democracy within political parties and the country, asserting that if Lahore takes to the streets, the whole of Pakistan will follow. He warned that the country was heading towards anarchy.

Reflecting on his decision to dissolve the assembly, Qaiser explained that they chose to dissolve it to gain a fresh mandate after learning of foreign interference.

He said, "We had no option but to dissolve the assembly, as the situation was slipping out of our hands." He revealed that the decision to resign was made in consultation with the PTI leadership and founder.

Section 144 imposed in Islamabad ahead of PTI's November 24 protest

Authorities have reimposed Section 144 in Islamabad prohibiting gatherings of five or more people for the next two months, according to an official notification released on Monday, ahead of a planned protest by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the federal capital.

The order, issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, restricts all types of gatherings in the capital, including religious, political, and other public meetings, as part of measures aimed at maintaining public order.

This move comes days after a previous imposition of Section 144 expired on November 17. Section 144 was previously imposed in Islamabad due to curb air pollution during the ongoing smog crisis in the capital city.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has finalised its strategy for a 'peaceful' protest on November 24, with plans to 'storm' Islamabad from all directions.

According to sources, the PTI leadership is determined to reach Islamabad at any cost, and significant responsibilities have been assigned to the party's leadership in Islamabad and Rawalpindi regions.

Sources indicate that the protest will begin with regional leadership organising mass demonstrations in Rawalpindi and Islamabad until the convoys from other provinces arrive.

The PTI leaders have meanwhile also reiterated their commitment to a peaceful political struggle and underscored the constitutional right to freedom of speech and protest.

Yesterday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had issued key instructions for its supporters ahead of the November 24 protest as directed by Imran Khan, which is being described as a decisive moment for the party’s future.

According to a statement shared on PTI’s social media, the protest on November 24 will determine the fate of party members. “This will be the day of decision, when it will be decided who will remain in my party and who will not,” the statement read, quoting PTI leader Imran Khan.

PTI's leadership is urging supporters to take part in large convoys that will travel along major roads, documenting the event through detailed video footage. The videos should not only capture the vehicles involved but also the people accompanying them, PTI's social media team emphasised.

Govt devises strategy to deal with PTI protest

The federal government has formulated a plan to deal with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) protest and sit-in scheduled for November 24 in the federal capital.

The federal government has started preparations to deploy Rangers and additional Frontier Constabulary (FC) force in Islamabad to better handle the law and order situation, The News reported.

Islamabad Police have sought the services of 9,000 personnel of Rangers and FC with full anti-riot kits since November 22.

Deployment of 5,000 additional personnel of the Pakistan Rangers and 4,000 of the FC has been sought by the Islamabad Police IG through a letter.

According to sources, the Ministry of Interior has initiated steps to deploy Rangers and FC. The ministry has decided to approach the agencies concerned in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration on Monday imposed Section 144 for two months ahead of the potential PTI protest in the federal capital.

According to a notification issued by Additional District Magistrate Usman Ashraf, the ban has been placed on all public gatherings of five or more people, processions, rallies and demonstrations.

The authorities said the decision has been taken in view of law and order situation, citing concerns about potential unlawful assemblies, disruption of public order and the current security environment.

The order specifically mentions concerns about planned religious and other demonstrations in the federal capital. The ban prohibits gatherings in all public places within Islamabad’s revenue limits, encompassing the area defined as the Red Zone which includes key government buildings, diplomatic missions and other sensitive locations.

The order states that even after the two-month period expires, any ongoing investigations, legal proceedings or penalties related to violations of the ban will continue.

Former prime minister Imran Khan has called on PTI supporters to march to Islamabad, stressing that the party’s entire leadership will be part of the protest.

PTI strategy

On the other hand, the PTI has finalised its strategy to march on Islamabad. Party sources claim that around 10,000 workers have already reached Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby areas.

The party leadership had instructed all office-bearers, MPAs, and MNAs to mobilise active workers from their constituencies and ensure their arrival in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding cities before November 24.

According to sources, all workers have been directed to stay at undisclosed locations.

Reliable sources informed The News that selected workers from the Hazara Division will reach Islamabad via Haripur and Murree routes, while specific workers from the southern districts will use Fateh Jang and alternative routes to enter the capital.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and PTI's provincial spokesperson Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif told The News that complete arrangements have been made to remove all obstacles.

He stated that similar hurdles were erected in the past, but PTI workers and the public overcame them and reached Islamabad.

He expressed confidence that on November 24, a massive crowd would once again converge on Islamabad and warned the "illegitimate government" against the folly of erecting barriers, as containers would prove to be nothing more than sand walls before the public’s passion.

He further added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, a large convoy from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would reach Islamabad and would not return until their demands were met.

Dr Saif emphasised that this time, the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are resolute about restoring the public mandate by freeing all political prisoners, including Imran.

Irfan Saleem, President of PTI Peshawar, told The News that the target is to mobilise 65,000 workers from 13 provincial constituencies and 50,000 from five national assembly constituencies in Peshawar.

Haji Fazal Elahi, a MPA from Peshawar, mentioned that workers are enthusiastic and all expenses are being borne personally, with additional support from the workers themselves.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, said that the protest would not only take place in Islamabad, but throughout Pakistan and across the world where Imran’s supporters were present.

The party has made four demands — revoke the 26th Constitutional Amendment, “restore” democracy and Constitution, return the public’s mandate, and release all “innocent political” prisoners.

'Last nail in coffin'

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's (PML-N) leader Tallal Chaudhry has said that the PTI's November 24 protest would be its "last nail in the coffin" and not the "final call".

"The PTI protest will become a victim of sister-in-laws' clash and the government would not have to do anything," Chaudhry, a firebrand PML-N leader, said during a conversation on Geo News' programme "Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath".

In his comment on the active participation of PTI founder Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi in politics and mobilising party leaders and workers for the planned massive protest, he said the movement’s success was impossible regardless of whatever Bushra was doing.

"Public transport is not available in Faisalabad to bring even 20,000 people," he remarked.

On KP CM Gandapur’s threats, the PML-N leader said he was all talk and no action.

The government was watching everything closely and it would not let anyone inflict damage upon Pakistan, he said, adding absolution would be granted only after sins were punished.

Apex Committee meeting

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Central Apex Committee of the National Action Plan called by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in the wake of increasing incidents of terrorism in the country could not be held on Monday.

According to government sources, the meeting will now be chaired by the prime minister at the PM House in Islamabad on (Tuesday).

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Finance Minister Senator Aurangzeb, Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Atta Tarar, Law Minister Senator Azim Nazir Tarar, the Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan chief ministers, Azad Jammu and Kashmir prime minister, Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, ISI, ISPR DGs, DGMO, DGMI, interior secretary, DG IB, DG FIA, Nacta national coordinator, all chief secretaries and IGs will attend the meeting.

The meeting would be briefed on the implementation of the National Action Plan by the Ministry of Interior and sensitive institutions.

The meeting would discuss the country’s internal security situation and approve a framework for counter-terrorism. Important decisions are expected to be taken in this important meeting of the political and military leadership.

Meanwhile, KP CM Gandapur is all set to discuss Imran, PTI's November 24 protest march, and their ongoing tension with the establishment in the Apex Committee meeting, where he will be sitting face-to-face with the top military leadership..

PTI distributes funds for Nov 24 protest expenses

Sources within the embattled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have confirmed that funds have been distributed among key members in a move to support the financial requirements of the members for the party's planned protest on November 24.

According to party insiders, the money had been allocated to cover various protest-related expenses, including travel and logistics.

Each Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) had been allocated Rs300,000. Members of National Assembly (MNA) had received Rs200,000 rupees each.

However, some notable members, including Aatif Khan, Junid Akbar and Shakeel Khan, have reportedly declined the cash allocation, choosing not to accept the funds.

Additionally, party officials and organizational leaders have been given Rs200,000 each under the guise of travel expenses, further contributing to the protest's logistical preparations.

He stated that both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan and other senior leaders are actively using these funds to cover expenses related to the demonstration.

Akram further added that leaders have been instructed to support the protest in their respective constituencies and that anyone requiring additional funds for the protest is welcome to reach out.

The distribution of funds comes as the PTI has prepared for its upcoming protest, amid ongoing political tensions in the country.

Special powers given to Rangers, FC in Islamabad ahead of PTI protest

The federal government has granted special powers to the Rangers and the Frontier Corps (FC) ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest scheduled for November 24.

A written order from the Ministry of Interior confirmed that the Rangers and FC would be empowered under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997 to assist the police in maintaining law and order during the planned demonstration in Islamabad.

The directive states that the Punjab Rangers and FC will provide support to the local police to ensure peace and security across the capital.

Azma Bukhari warns PTI of 'terrorist-like' crackdown on Nov 24

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has issued a stern warning to PTI ahead of planned anti-government protests on 24 November, stating that the government will act against the demonstrators as it does with terrorists.

Speaking outside the Lahore High Court, Azma criticised those planning the protests, alleging they are waging "jihad against the state." She said, “They may have plans A and B, but the state has the full A to Z to counter them.”

Azma also accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of misusing public funds, claiming that over Rs8.1 million were spent on a rally in Islamabad, money she argued should have been allocated to public welfare in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Referring to a fake video scandal targeting her, Azma welcomed the Lahore High Court’s decision to reject the bail plea of Muhammad Shafiq, one of the accused.

The court remarked that such actions severely damage a woman’s reputation and need firm legal action.

The minister further stressed the need for regulating social media in Pakistan, calling for enhanced capacity-building for the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Azma criticised PTI's propaganda tactics and accused the party of operating a cell to spread disinformation, urging the judiciary to take a stricter stance against such activities.

The protests, planned for 24 November, have sparked concerns of potential unrest. The Punjab government has vowed to take all necessary measures to maintain law and order.

Quaid-e-Azam University closed due to Nov 24 PTI protest

Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) has closed its campus from Friday to Monday in light of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest on November 24 and potential road closures in the capital.

According to a notification issued by the university administration, all academic activities will remain suspended on Friday and Monday, including scheduled exams. The university's transport service will also remain unavailable on these days.

The administration emphasized that academic activities and exams will only resume once the roads reopen in the area.

“To ensure fairness, students will be provided with adequate time to prepare for and retake the postponed exams,” the notification added.

A few days ago, PTI leader Barrister Saif said preparations were underway to stage the protest and public gathering on November 24 (Sunday) in the federal capital. Expressing his thoughts, Saif stated, "A large number of people will make their way to the public gathering in Islamabad. The party bigwigs are holding meetings in this regard.”

“We [PTI] have not used the public machinery in our gatherings. The availability of the rescue services is mandatory in case of any untoward incident,” Saif added. He maintained: “The purpose of staging the protest is to ensure the release of the PTI founder and rest of the leadership.”

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur said that negotiations on the November 24 protest will only be commenced after the release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan

Speaking to ARY News after meeting the PTI chairman at Adiala Jail, Ali Amin Gandapur reaffirmed his commitment to securing Imran Khan’s release and fulfilling all related demands on November 24.

He emphasised that the time has come to uphold PTI’s slogan, “If Not Now, Then When? If Not Us, Then Who?” He urged the nation to decide whether to confront the system of oppression or fight for justice.

“Our leader is fighting not just for us, but for future generations. We will not let him down,” Gandapur stated. “PTI’s ideology is our passion, and passion never dies; it only grows stronger.”

Separately, senior PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan expressed satisfaction regarding Imran Khan’s release, citing a significant decision by the Islamabad High Court.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) announced the verdict and ordered to release former prime minister Imran Khan after his bail was approved against two surety bonds worth Rs 1 million each in the Toshakhana-II case.

On November 14, PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi’s pleas seeking acquittal in the Toshakhana-II case were rejected.

Special Central Judge Shah Rukh Arjumand announced the reserved verdict and rejected the acquittal pleas of former prime minister and his wife.

In a separate development, the FIA challenged Bushra Bibi, wife of Imran Khan, bail in the Toshakhana-II case in the Supreme Court.

The FIA stated in its plea that bail was granted in Islamabad High Court judge’s chamber and it violates Supreme Court guidelines. The FIA also claimed that Bushra Bibi was involved in the case along with her husband Imran Khan.

It is pertinent to note that, Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi were arrested in a fresh National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reference on July 13 related to Toshakhana, hours after their acquittal in the Iddat case.

Rawalpindi will be sealed from 50 points ahead of PTI protest

The law enforcement agencies have planned to “lay a virtual siege” to the garrison city by sealing it from 50 points to prevent Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers from entering the federal capital territory on Nov 24.

On the other hand, the police have launched a crackdown on PTI local leaders and workers which began on Tuesday night and have so far rounded up more than 30 workers and activists.

A senior police official confirmed that the Rawalpindi will be sealed from 50 points with freight shipping containers, razors and barbed wires as the district police, including Elite Force commandos, will be deployed and nobody will be allowed to stage any protest.

Police have been considering avoiding using water cannons and rubber bullets against the PTI protesters, if they try to engage the police in any part of the city. The main showdown is expected to take place in Attock district — the border area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. The police fear that protesters would bring weapons to Islamabad.

“Extraordinary security measures will be taken to ensure peace in the city and nobody will be allowed to stage any protest and to take law into their own hand,” said a senior police official.

He said that all possible steps would be taken to maintain law and order and protect the lives and property of citizens.

However, the district administration has not sought extra police force from the Punjab government so far as they have been relying on its own strength.

The PTI has staged multiple protests and carried out rallies across the country in recent weeks against the imprisonment of its founder, amendment in the constitution and demanding fresh elections. As part of the security plan, the City Police Officer Khalid Hamdani on Wednesday visited different areas of the city to review the sealing points, including narrow streets in the downtown city areas.

A police spokesperson said that CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani on Wednesday visited different areas of the city. SP Rawal and other senior officers were also accompanied the CPO.

The CPO reviewed the security and other arrangements and gave instructions to the officers to further review the security arrangements.

He said that maintaining peace and order and the prevention of crimes has been the first priority. All measures will be taken to establish peace and order and to eradicate criminals and evil-doers.

The CPO said that the enforcement of law and the protection of lives and property of citizens will be ensured.

Interior ministry orders bureaucracy to ensure state resources not used in PTI Nov 24 rally

The interior ministry on Thursday wrote to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief secretary to ensure that state machinery, equipment or finances were not used for PTI’s power show planned for November 24 (Sunday).

PTI founder and ex-premier Imran Khan issued a “final call” for the Sunday protest last week, denouncing what he described as the stolen mandate, the unjust arrests of people, and the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, which he said has strengthened a “dictatorial regime”.

Since Imran’s arrest in August 2023 on several counts, his party has been holding protests across the country for his release and against the alleged rigging of the Feb 8 elections.

Thursday’s letter to Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, stated “Protest call on November 24” as its subject, specifying the PTI as the organiser later.

It asked Chaudhry to ensure that the KP government “does not utilise state machinery, equipment, officials or finances for political protest by the political party”.

The interior ministry’s directives come a day after the government approved the deployment of both Pakistan Rangers and Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel in Islamabad from November 22 onwards to “handle” the law and order situation, ahead of the planned power show.

The notification said the exact number of personnel and the date and area of their deployment would be “worked out in consultation with concerned stakeholders”. Similarly, the date of de-requisitioning would be decided after mutually consulting all relevant stakeholders.

The federal and Punjab governments have decided to take strict measures to deal with the PTI’s call. The police have been placed on “high alert” throughout Punjab while Section 144 has been extended in the federal capital for two more months, in addition to heavy security arrangements.

The government’s concerns about the usage of state machinery emerged when last month, around two dozen KP cops were among 1,000 PTI supporters arrested by the Rawalpindi and Islamabad police during the PTI’s October 5 D-Chowk protest.

Following a simultaneous protest in Punjab, the Attock police had also arrested as many as 11 KP policemen who were participating in the PTI’s march.

Sources had told Dawn that more than 40 Rescue 1122 vehicles and 120 of its personnel accompanied the PTI procession coming from Peshawar to Islamabad for the rally. The Punjab police had arrested 41 of the rescue personnel and took into possession 17 of the vehicles.

Section 144 imposed in Rawalpindi ahead PTI's Nov 24 protest

The Rawalpindi administration has placed containers to block key roads and imposed Section 144 across the city ahead of PTI's planned November 24 protest.

Containers have been positioned at key locations such as Fawara Chowk and Liaquat Road, including near the church on Liaquat Road and near Fawara Chowk Parking Plaza, Express News reported.

The government has taken robust measures to stop PTI's protest, with additional containers being deployed on the main roads and intersections of the city.

The containers are being placed on the sides of the roads to prevent any disruption.

The Rawalpindi police have also decided to seal off 47 locations within the city, while police pickets will be established at 34 locations in Rawalpindi Cantt and surrounding areas.

Over 4,500 personnel will be deployed across the city on November 24 to maintain law and order.

Special security arrangements have been made around Adiala Jail and Adiala Road, with plans to seal off various points along Adiala Road.

Additional police commandos have been deployed at key installations in Rawalpindi city and cantonment areas to enhance security.

In light of PTI's call for a protest in Islamabad on November 24, Section 144 has been imposed in Rawalpindi until November 26.

The notification prohibits gatherings, rallies, or any assembly of more than four people in the city.

According to senior police officers, extensive arrangements are being made to ensure peace and security within the city.

Previously a similar situation arose when in response to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) grand rally in Swabi on November 9, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in Rawalpindi for three days.

This move restricted all gatherings, rallies, and weapon displays, according to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Hasan Waqar Cheema.

Security was heightened as Rawalpindi and Attock police were on high alert, prepared for any potential emergency situations involving PTI convoys.

Lahore’s Central Police Office deployed 1,500 personnel from four districts, including Punjab Constabulary and Highway Patrolling Police, under the supervision of Rawalpindi’s RPO.

Section 144 imposed in Punjab ahead of PTI's Nov 24 protest

The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 across the province, effectively banning all public gatherings, protests, rallies, processions, and sit-ins for a period of three days.

In this connection, the Punjab Home Department has issued a notification regarding the enforcement of Section 144 across the province, Express News reported on Friday.

According to the notification, all forms of protests, rallies, processions, and sit-ins are prohibited. The Section 144 will be in effect from November 23 to November 25.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the recommendation to enforce Section 144 was made during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee for Law and Order. The decision to impose Section 144 was made to ensure peace, protect human lives, and safeguard property.

In view of security concerns, any public procession could be a soft target for terrorists. Miscreants might exploit public gatherings to carry out anti-state activities and achieve their malicious objectives.

Government was saying that PTI is not gonna be able to bring even a few thousand people to Islamabad and on the other hand they have stopped the whole country to stop them from coming. LOL

PTI’s political committee discusses option of calling off protest march

The PTI’s political committee last night deliberated on the issues of calling off November 24 protest march in view of IHC decision, and the controversy created by Bushra Bibi.

According to some PTI leaders, who were part of the last night deliberations, majority of the committee members were in favour of calling off the November 24 protest march in the light of IHC decision. They were of the view that dialogue with the government should be given a chance. It was decided by the PTI’s political committee to present this option (of calling off the protest call and giving dialogue a chance) to the jailed party’s founder chairman Imran Khan for a decision by him.

Following the political committee’s recommendation, a delegation of PTI leaders went to Adiala Jail to meet Khan but they could not meet their leader. Later KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur convened a meeting of party leaders in Peshawar to discuss the issue of protest march.

PTI leader and KP CM’s adviser Barrister Saif when approached said that although he is not member of the political committee, there is discussion within the party to challenge the IHC decision.

On the issue of serious controversy generated by Bushra Bibi’s video statement regarding Saudi Arabia, party sources said, majority of the political committee members were unhappy and spoke against it. However, they could not decide to publicly reject Bushra Bibi’s statement. Some of the leaders suggested that the PTI should distance itself from Bushra Bibi’s statement and let her defend herself. However, it could not be decided.

PTI still in talks with establishment, claims Raoof Hasan

Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Raoof Hasan has stressed that his political party is still in talks with the establishment. He made the claim during the Geo News programme ‘Naya Pakistan’ on Friday.

When the show’s host, Shahzad Iqbal, quoted Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi as saying that no negotiations are being held with the PTI, Hasan pointed out that his party’s “negotiations are being held with people who are perhaps above Naqvi’s level, with people who matter. If Naqvi doesn’t want to believe, that’s his problem, not ours”. The PTI leader reiterated that “negotiations have not ended. They’re still under way”. He also said: “A lot of issues are on board. It’s about changing the mindset. If negotiations progress and there’s hope of a result, we can think about them.”

“Given the state of the country, negotiations have become inevitable,” he said. “Negotiations between the establishment and the PTI are inevitable. The country can’t progress without them. Everyone can see that the country is currently in trouble.” He clarified that holding protests, not issuing threats, is the party’s legal right, which they are exercising. He also clarified that if the call persists, their November 24 protest would succeed.

“People are prepared for the protest. They want to join it. I’m in favour of dialogue. Problems should be solved at the table on a priority basis. A protest will be very effective.”

Establishment denies any dialogue with PTI

There is no dialogue between the Establishment and opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Sources have cleared the air about rumours of deal or contacts between the PTI and Establishment.

“There is no engagement or any deal between the PTI and the Establishment,” say sources.

The Establishment, they say, is not interested in negotiations with the PTI and there is no possibility of it in current circumstances.

Imran Khan and his party have to hold dialogue with the government in case he tenders an apology for the May 9 riots, say sources.

Some quarters in the PTI are deliberately giving the impression about engagement but there is no truth to these claims, they add.

Protest will continue until demands are met: Gandapur

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the directives of PTI Founder Imran Khan, emphasizing that the Nov 24 protest will continue until their demands are met.

Speaking to the media, Gandapur stated that Imran Khan was fighting a war for Pakistan, urging people to take to the streets against the wave of oppression currently going on.

"We have to reach D-Chowk where the protest will continue until our demands are met," Gandapur insisted, declaring that the release of the former prime minister and party workers remains their top demand. “Protection of the Constitution is also among our demands,” he stated.

He claimed that their path has often been obstructed by tear gas and firing. “I am warning the federal government that if there is any damage, they will be responsible themselves,” he declared.

Highlighting his allegiance to Imran Khan, Gandapur said he would act solely on his directives. “Any negotiations with the government will begin after the release of the PTI founder,” he affirmed, adding that he and every worker of the PTI would reach D-Chowk at any cost. He added that the federal and Punjab governments had closed motorways and highways in panic.

He also stressed the peaceful nature of their protest, insisting that the government is causing trouble for the people by blocking the entire country.

Earlier on Saturday, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi contacted PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar to discuss in detail the current situation amid PTI's protest scheduled for November 24.

Naqvi also apprised Gohar of the situation arising after the Islamabad High Court's latest order regarding the protest, and stressed that the government was bound by the orders of the court.

During their detailed conversation, Naqvi emphasized the government's commitment to adhering to the court's directives.

"The Islamabad High Court order binds us, and we cannot allow any processions, sit-ins, or rallies,” Naqvi stated.

Naqvi also updated Gohar that a high-level Belarusian delegation is set to arrive in Islamabad on November 24, followed by the president of Belarus on November 25. The delegation will remain in the capital until November 27.

Bushra Bibi to skip PTI's much-hyped protest

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, will not participate in the much-important protest call scheduled in Islamabad tomorrow.

It was confirmed by her spokesperson Mashal Yousafzai on Saturday.

She said that the former first lady wouldn’t participate in Nov 24 protest call of the party as she wasn’t feeling well.

The sources said that Bushra Bibi was active in the party affairs since November 1 while also chairing several meetings in Peshawar.

She also chaired meetings regarding the preparations of party’s protest call in Islamabad for the release of Imran Khan.

The sources said that the PTI founder has sent her a message to stay away from the political activities.

Earlier, Bushra Bibi faced legal troubles after the video statement controversy.

Five cases have been filed against her under the Telegraph Act of 1885.

A case was registered at the Jamal Khan Police Station, Dera Ghazi Khan on the complaint of a man named Ghulam Yaseen.

The FIR stated that Bushra Bibi’s statement on a private channel appeared to be a conspiracy aimed at damaging relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arab.

The complainant argued that her video statement was an affront to the sentiments of the Pakistani people and part of a deliberate plot, urging legal action against her.

Additionally, another case has been registered against Bushra Bibi in Rajanpur under the same Telegraph Act of 1885, following a complaint filed by a person named Hakim at the Muhammad Pur Gamwala Police Station.

Furthermore, in the Layyah district, a case was registered under Section 129 of the Telegraph Act by Sohail Ashfaq at the City Police Station.

Later, two more cases were instituted against Bushra Bibi in Gujranwala and Multan.

It is important to note that in her statement, Bushra Bibi claimed that when Imran Khan walked barefoot in Madinah, former army chief Bajwa received calls saying, "Who are these religious extremists you are bringing?"

PTI protest: interior ministry says WiFi, mobile internet suspensions only in areas with ‘security concerns’

Ahead of the PTI’s planned power show in Islamabad tomorrow, the interior ministry said on Saturday that WiFi and mobile internet services would be suspended only in areas with “security concerns” and remain operational as normal in the rest of the country.

PTI founder and ex-premier Imran Khan last week issued a “final call” for a protest tomorrow, denouncing what he described as the stolen mandate, the unjust arrests of people, and the passage of the 26th Amendment, which he said has strengthened a “dictatorial regime”.

The government is taking a number of security measures and precautions to deal with the protest. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said on Thursday that a Belarusian delegation would be visiting over the weekend and mobile services would be suspended in Islamabad.

Today, a statement from an interior ministry spokesperson regarding internet services said: “Mobile data and WiFi service will be suspended only in areas of security concerns. Internet and mobile services will continue to operate as usual in the rest of the country.”

However, a Dawn correspondent said that mobile internet and WiFi services were not working in Islamabad’s F-11 Markaz. The correspondent said in a subsequent update that WiFi services resumed working while mobile internet did not.

Another Dawn correspondent reported that containers were placed at major roads in Islamabad with the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway blocked in the morning, adding that roads connecting the capital with nearby Rawalpindi were also blocked.

Final call means final call, only Khan can review it: Barrister Gohar
Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said while speaking only Geo News show ‘Naya Pakistan’ that a “final call” meant a final call and only Imran could review the decision.

“Khan sahib is Khan sahib. He is the boss. He doesn’t recommend. He orders, we follow.”

He said Imran had given the call for the protest, he had given the instructions and thus it was his decision to review it.

Gohar said the PTI’s political committee discussed everything as per Imran’s instructions and it was not its option to review something that the PTI founder ordered and give a contrary direction.

Regarding his earlier talks with Naqvi and media coverage of the development, Gohar said they only made contact once and no commitment was made of when the PTI chairman would inform the interior minister about his final response.

Regarding possible consequences of contravention of the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) Thursday order, which had ruled the planned protest as unlawful, Gohar said the PTI was not heard in the case and said it was not the court’s final order but still a pending matter.

Islamabad locked down ahead of protests seeking ex-PM Imran Khan's release

Pakistan's capital was put under a security lockdown on Sunday ahead of protests by supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan calling for his release.

Highways leading to Islamabad through which supporters of Khan, led by members of his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, are expected to approach the city and gather near the parliament, have been blocked.

Most major roads of the city have also been blocked by the government with shipping containers and large contingents of police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in riot gear, while mobile phone services have been suspended.

Gatherings of any sort have been banned under legal provisions, the Islamabad police said in a statement.

Global internet watchdog NetBlocks said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that live metrics showed WhatsApp messaging services had been restricted ahead of the protests.

A key Khan aid, Ali Amin Gandapur, who is the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and is expected to lead the largest convoy into Islamabad, called on people to gather near the entrance of the city's red zone, known as "D Chowk".

Islamabad's red zone houses the country's parliament building, important government installations, as well as embassies and foreign institutions' offices.

"Khan has called on us to remain there till all our demands are met," he said in a video message on Saturday.

The PTI's demands include the release of all its leaders, including Khan, as well as the resignation of the current government due to what it says was a rigged election this year.

Rift emerges within PTI leadership ahead of Islamabad protest

A significant rift has surfaced within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership just hours before the party's caravan was scheduled to depart for Islamabad on Sunday. According to sources, the dispute arose between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and former first lady Bushra Bibi over who would lead the procession from Peshawar.

Both Gandapur and Bushra Bibi reportedly wanted to head the caravan, resulting in a heated exchange on Sunday morning. Gandapur is said to have asserted that Bushra Bibi, not holding an official political position within the party, should refrain from leading the rally.

Despite earlier reports suggesting that Bushra Bibi would not participate in the protest due to health reasons, sources indicate that she has been actively involved in PTI affairs since early November. She chaired several meetings in Peshawar and oversaw preparations for the Islamabad demonstration, which aims to demand the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.

Insiders claim that Imran Khan has advised Bushra Bibi to avoid active political participation. Her spokesperson, Mashal Yousafzai, confirmed on Saturday that the former first lady would skip the rally due to health concerns.

The internal conflict comes as PTI gears up for a significant protest on November 24, following Imran Khan's "final call" for nationwide demonstrations. Khan has condemned what he calls a "stolen mandate," the arrests of PTI members, and the recent passage of the 26th amendment, which he claims bolsters a "dictatorial regime."

As the party prepares for the protest, the internal discord raises questions about PTI’s unity and leadership strategy at a critical moment.

PTI Faisalabad chapter calls off protest after low worker turnout

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf PTI workers Faisalabad chapter called off the protest march towards Islamabad at the Sargodha Road Interchange.

PTI local leadership withdraws protest call after admitting decrease in number of workers.

PTI Faisalabad city president Latif Nazar Gujjar said a large number of workers have been arrested and argued now they could not go to Islamabad on Sunday.

However, workers blamed the PTI Faisalabad leadership that despite the leadership’s call to reach Islamabad, the local leadership was not supporting them.

“Peshawar convoy will reach by tomorrow, after which we will also make a plan to go,” the city president of PTI said.

The city’s local leadership left with its workers via motorway.

Earlier, it was reported yesterday that Bushra Bibi will not participate in the much-important protest call scheduled in Islamabad.

PTI claims arrests, teargas shelling as govt ministers vow to halt protest

As PTI convoys from across the country reached Islamabad for the party’s much-touted powershow — despite a court order and government warnings against it — the party claimed its workers were being arrested and dispersed using teargas.

On Nov 13, Imran Khan issued a “final call” for nationwide protests on Nov 24 (today), denouncing what he described as the stolen mandate, the unjust arrests of people and the passage of the 26th amendment, which he said has strengthened a “dictatorial regime”.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ruled that PTI’s planned protest is unlawful and directed the federal government to take all necessary measures to maintain law and order in Islamabad without disrupting public life, particularly as the Belarusian president is scheduled to arrive over the weekend with a high-profile delegation.

As PTI supporters, who had set off on their journey earlier in the day, began reaching Islamabad despite government warnings of arrests, the party claimed the police was detaining its workers and using teargas to disperse them.

In a post on X at 7:10pm, the PTI shared what it said were “visuals of the extreme shelling by fascist regime against own citizens at Islamabad Express”.

Earlier, a Dawn.com correspondent in Islamabad said mobile internet services were down across the city, while major roads, including motorways, were blocked with containers.

Pictures shared by the correspondent showed mostly deserted roads and people on motorbikes making their way from a narrow corner of a road blocked by trucks.

“These constant protests are destroying the economy and creating instability … we want the political leadership to sit together and resolve these matters,” Muhammad Asif, 35, a resident of Islamabad told Reuters in front of a closed market.

Separately, in a notification seen by Dawn.com, the office of the district magistrate in Islamabad ordered the closure of all public and private educational institutions in the capital territory tomorrow.

The PTI, in a post on X, claimed that the convoy of National Assembly opposition leader Omar Ayub was targeted near Taxila and shells were fired at it.

PTI MNA Sher Afzal Marwat shared a video of his brother Khalid Latif Khan saying his convoy was stopped at Daud Khel and was fired at with “strict teargas shelling”.

However, he asserted, “We will reach D Chowk in any circumstance.”

In another video, Khalid said that police had been shelling the convoy for over an hour and a half.

“We had to face heavy shelling for an hour-and-a-half to two hours,” he said. “Thankfully now, the path has been cleared and we should leave (for D Chowk) within an hour-and-a-half to two hours.”

Earlier today, the PTI claimed a “family that had reached D Chowk last night” had been arrested, sharing a video of a woman speaking from inside a prisoner van while another was taken inside too.

The woman asked for the reason for being detained, saying, “Okay, we can say sorry that we should not have come to this area.”

In another post, the PTI shared a video without specifying the location, saying: “The fascist regime has started, as expected, tear gas shelling against peaceful Pakistanis.”

Speaking at D-Chowk, the final destination of PTI’s main convoy, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, “One option is that we let them come and […] paralyse Islamabad. The other option is to protect Islamabad.

“The area where they (the PTI) have called the protest is a protected area of Islamabad, monitored by the IG and DIG,” Naqvi said, referring to the Red Zone. “Any protesters who enter that area will be arrested,” he warned.

Despite the security apparatus in place, Naqvi maintained that the blockades were “not as bad as last time” and that the government was trying to give as much relief as possible to those inconvenienced.

Referring to the arrival of a Belarusian delegation in the capital, Naqvi said PTI supporters were coming on to the route through which the delegation was supposed to pass.

He criticised the PTI for organising protests today instead of attending the funerals being held in Kurram, referring to violent clashes there in the past few days.

Addressing the PTI demonstrators, he said: “If you wish to protest, that is your right, but you know exactly who is coming and you have been blocking off roads and causing trouble.”

Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said a “comprehensive security plan” had been formed to prevent mischief.

“If a road is closed, a lane has been kept open along it,” the IG said while speaking to the media, stressing that the purpose of the security plan was to secure the people’s lives and property.

“There are obstacles, but the movement of people has not been stopped,” he claimed, adding that action would be taken against people carrying weapons or prohibited items.

In a post on X earlier today, the Islamabad police said Rawat T Cross was closed for traffic on both sides and only one lane was open at Chungi No.26 for traffic heading both ways.

“However, internal roads are partially open for traffic in Islamabad which can be used in case of extreme need,” the police said, urging citizens to avoid unnecessary travel.

In a separate post, the police shared pictures of its personnel stationed at various points to “ensure the imposition of Section 144”, which prohibits gatherings.

State broadcaster PTV News shared a post on X pointing out how there were “neither any people nor any flags” on Lahore’s Liberty Chowk, compared to previous instances “when the PTI used to hold its musical shows every other night”.

Punjab, especially Lahore, came to a grinding halt on Saturday after the entire intercity bus operation — particularly routes leading to Islamabad and Rawalpindi — were suspended.

The security at the Lahore railway station was also beefed up after a huge number of passengers thronged it in a bid to reach their destinations.

So far caravans in huge numbers from KP gathering on the outskirts of ISB.
Similarly a caravan from Karachi is also on the way and surprisingly Sindh Govt has not created much obstacles like Punjab.
From Punjab there is a buildup whether they will be able to reach ISB is another question.
Govt. Has completely sealed ISB and even small link roads in RWP are also closed. However, Gandapur plans to enter ISB on 26th in a bid to maintain pressure on Govt.
Let's see if this time buying can be fruitful. Law enforcement agencies are also under the pump due to this cat & mouse situation

Lol this is funny. So after all the claims of 80% people voting for IL, no one bothered to come and protest. Clearly shows his support is bogus just like his supporters. They are mostly overseas pakistanins who want to impose thier version of government in a country they don't even live anymore

Over 1,500 PTI supporters arrested in Islamabad: sources

At least 1,520 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters have been arrested in Islamabad over the last three days since the federal capital police launched a crackdown against former prime minister Imran Khan’s party’s workers.

Incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan has asked his supporters to march towards Islamabad on November 24 for democracy and judiciary. But Defence Minister Khawaja Asif believes the protest is akin to “insurrection” as the former ruling party allegedly wants to usurp the federal capital.

The PTI founder has set four demands for ending protests while his wife has stated that the date would only change if Khan is out of jail.

Khan’s PTI encountered a significant setback on Thursday when the Islamabad High Court ruled that no protests or rallies violating a recent law on public gatherings would be permitted over the weekend due to the visit of the Belarusian president.

The federal government has called in additional security troops to assist the capital city administration in maintaining order during the protest.

Convoys of PTI marched to the capital city from KP and Punjab in the afternoon despite roadblocks and court orders. But Khan’s party believes it was not heard in the case.

The IHC order was given in view of a ban on public gatherings in the twin cities and the arrival of a Belarusian delegation prior to President Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to the country.

Tarar claims PTI leaders seek arrest by choice to skip planned protest

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, claims that most Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers are seeking arrest to avoid participation in the planned protest, ARY News reported.

He claimed that PTI’s leadership does not want the release of their leader, Imran Khan, from prison. Tarar noted that reports from Punjab and Islamabad suggest that many PTI leaders, both senior and junior, are surrendering to the police.

He highlighted this as an indication of the party’s internal divisions, particularly between Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI’s founder Imran Khan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Tarar emphasised that the PTI protest is only to secure an NRO-like concession for Khan’s release. He stated that the government cannot fulfil this demand, as it lies within the jurisdiction of the courts. He added that PTI should fight its case in the courts for Khan’s release, as he faces several charges.

After taking a breather overnight, PTI convoys to resume slow march towards Islamabad today

After being unable to reach Islamabad for its incarcerated leader Imran Khan’s “final call” protest on Sunday, PTI convoys from various parts of the country, including one being led by KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, are expected to resume their slow march towards the capital today in the face of stiff resistance from the government.

An update shared by the party this morning said that Gandapur was ready with his convoy to restart the march.

The protest, which the government is determined to foil with force, was originally scheduled to be staged on Nov 24, but the convoys took a breather last night after PTI leaders said they were in “no hurry” to reach the federal capital for their ‘do or die’ protest, as workers and supporters from across the country attempted to defy arrests, baton charges and tear gas to participate in the agitation.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) last week ruled that PTI’s planned protest is unlawful and directed the federal government to take all necessary measures to maintain law and order in Islamabad without disrupting public life, particularly as the Belarusian president is scheduled to arrive today in the capital for a three-day official visit.

The PTI protesters, coming mainly from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were still quite away from Islamabad until late Sunday night. The party and police officials expect the caravan of supporters from KP to enter the federal capital by Tuesday or Wednesday.

In Punjab and Islamabad, PTI leaders failed to mobilise the workers effectively as the police swiftly thwarted their attempts to hold gatherings.

Security personnel used batons and tear gas before rounding up scores of people in several cities.

PTI leader Asad Qaiser told Dawn that caravans of protesters marching towards Islamabad “from across the country” would still take a few days to reach Islamabad.

“The rally coming from Peshawar to Islamabad is spread over 14 kilometres,” he claimed, adding that similar numbers would be arriving from D.I. Khan, Abbottabad, Balochistan and other areas.

Although rallies have entered Punjab, “we have instructed our workers that we are not in a hurry to reach Islamabad,” Mr Qaiser told Dawn.

“[O]ur destination is Islamabad but we can take a day or two to reach there and let the government machinery remain panicked.”

Police officials, while citing intelligence reports, said PTI’s caravan coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was likely to stay in or near Swabi on Sunday and continue its march on Monday, reaching Attock on the Punjab-KP border by the day’s end. They are then likely to move towards Islamabad on Tuesday, sources claimed.

According to journalists, the caravan from KP had halted at Ghazi Barotha, short of Attock, on Sunday night. However, many groups of PTI activists defied police expectations and entered Punjab via different highways late on Sunday.

Groups from various parts of KP, such as the Peshawar and Malakand regions, entered Punjab from various thoroughfares after circumventing roadblocks on major arteries.

Another group of protesters from southern KP was en route via the Hakla-Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, while the procession from the Hazara region used the Hazara Expressway to enter Punjab.

Bushra Bibi, the spouse of PTI founder Imran Khan, was also part of the convoy coming from Peshawar.

In a brief speech near the Swabi Interchange, Mr Gandapur urged the workers to “utilise all their energy” to remove hurdles on their way towards their destination — D-Chowk in Islamabad.

The main procession was also joined by protesters from Dera Ismail Khan, led by Mr Gandapur’s brother Umar Amin; Balochistan, led by Salar Khan Kakar; Tank; and South Waziristan.

The protesters had their first face-off with Punjab police near Attock. As police fired tear gas, they pelted stones and set fire to a toll booth and a van.

The skirmishes continued till the filing of this report, in the early hours of Monday.

Despite closing the roads, and shelling PKs with impunity, the PK people have come out. The criminal Junta must end.

I really don't like this guy.

PTI convoys face tear gas as march towards Islamabad continues

PTI convoys led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Opposition leader, Omar Ayub, entered Punjab premises on the call of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan.

The convoys, originating from the Hazara Interchange, are heading towards D-Chowk in Islamabad.

As the convoys advanced, they encountered heavy resistance from the police at the Ghazi Brotha Bridge, where intense shelling was reported.

Despite the police crackdown, Omar Ayub's convoy managed to push back Punjab Police forces at the Hazara Interchange. Ali Amin Gandapur, who is leading the Hazara Division convoy, played a crucial role in helping the convoy break through the police barricades.

After overcoming the police blockade, the convoys continued their journey, with vehicles stretching over two kilometers as they moved forward. On the Hazara Motorway, PTI supporters successfully forced police to retreat, with reports of violent clashes and heavy stone-pelting.

Several police personnel were injured in the scuffles, and two officers were severely wounded and transferred to hospitals.

Among the injured officers were DSPs Chaudhry Zulfiqar and Shahid Gilani, as well as ASI Tabassum. DSP Zulfiqar suffered significant injuries to his back and legs during the confrontation.

'Talks underway'

Barrister Gohar Khan and Saif held a 90-minute meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. Following the meeting, Barrister Gohar described the discussion as significant, confirming that Imran Khan’s call for a protest remains final and that rumors about it being canceled were untrue.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Barrister Gohar emphasised that the PTI founder’s stance on the protest was unchanged, and the movement would proceed as planned. The meeting focused on strategic discussions regarding the ongoing political situation and the party's future course of action.

When asked about the ongoing negotiations surrounding the protest, Barrister Gohar assured reporters that updates would be provided in due course. He further confirmed that discussions were still ongoing but did not offer further details at this time.

'Final call'

The PTI gave its final call for the protest to meet its four demands: release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, reversal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment, restoration of democracy and Constitution in the country and return of allegedly "stolen mandate".

The demands surfaced on November 13 after Imran had urged people via a post on X, formerly Twitter, to reach Islamabad and not to return until those were met. The PTI had said that its rallies would be converted into a sit-in in the federal capital and end only when the demands were met.

Since then, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government, backed by a recent order of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), has been stating that neither the protestors would be allowed to enter the capital nor any leniency would be shown to them this time around.

This convoy should head for parliament, PM house and SC. Don't let the mafia play for time. We salute the brave PTI workers for the sacrifices for PK.

Petrol pumps at risk of closure amid PTI protest

The ongoing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest has caused significant disruptions in Rawalpindi and Islamabad, sparking fears of a looming petrol shortage, ARY News reported.

According to reports, the government-imposed road blockages have severely disrupted the supply chain, making it nearly impossible for oil tankers to deliver fuel to petrol stations. This disruption has heightened concerns about a petrol shortage in the twin cities. Noman Ali Butt, a leader of the Oil Tankers Association, highlighted that the blocked routes have stalled tanker movement, further aggravating fears of a worsening petrol shortage.

The Oil Tankers Association has appealed to the local administration to urgently reopen the roads to restore the supply chain and ensure uninterrupted delivery of petroleum products.

Butt further warned that if the blockages persist, petrol pumps in the twin cities could face complete shutdowns starting tomorrow, intensifying the ongoing petrol shortage. Such a scenario would add to the public’s woes already aggravated by the ongoing protests.

The concern over fuel shortages comes amid the government’s decision to keep schools closed in the twin cities on Tuesday, November 26, as the disruptions show no signs of easing.

Gandapur heads PTI rally into Islamabad

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally enters the federal capital under the leadership of Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur for ‘do-or-die’ protest, ARY News reported.

According to reports, the rally led by Gandapur has entered Islamabad’s jurisdiction. Convoys from the Hazara division, DI Khan, and Balochistan merged with the CM KP-led motorcade rally at the Hakla interchange.

Bushra Bibi, the wife of the incarcerated PTI founder and other PTI top cadre are accompanying Ali Amin Gandapur.

The development came after the government and PTI refuted the reports of negotiations.

Earlier sources claimed that, the Govt-PTI negotiations were held at the Minister’s Enclave but ended as both parties failed to reach a decision.

No settlement below D-Chowk acceptable: Bushra Bibi

Bushra Bibi, the wife of incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, insisted on progressing to D-Chowk in the federal capital, hours after Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi warned the former ruling party of "consequences" if they entered the high-security zone, sources said.

PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan contacted KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra and conveyed Imran's message to them, the sources said.

In response to the message, the former first lady told Barrister Gohar that Imran had told her to arrive at D-Chowk at all costs, the sources said.

She reportedly asserted that the party workers are not willing to compromise on any settlement that does not include (reaching) D-Chowk.

The sources said that the PTI founder agreed to an alternative location which his wife refused to accept.

The sources reported Bushra as saying, "Certain conspirators want to divert us from D-Chowk to another location, but this will not be accepted."

Just to save the Junta. The Rangers killed the PTI workers and also ended up running over their own men. This is a horrible, evil regime with no public writ.
