Pakistan Army told to ‘shoot on sight’ as protests turn deadly

Four paramilitary personnel and two policemen have been killed and over 100 security personnel injured as the protest by supporters of jailed former prime minister Imran Khan turned violent prompting the federal government to deploy the army in the national capital along with shoot at sight orders on Tuesday, state-run media said.

Pakistan deployed the army amid a tense stand-off with Khan's supporters from his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) pushing forward by removing hurdles on their way to Islamabad's D-Chowk venue as the government vowed to foil their attempt “even if a curfew needs to be imposed.” Radio Pakistan said a vehicle rammed into Pakistan Rangers personnel killing four Rangers officials on the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad late on Monday night. Five other Rangers personnel and several police officials too sustained severe injuries.

About five kilometres from this spot, a bunch of miscreants, equipped with weapons and ammunition, pelted stones on the Rangers personnel and carried out indiscriminate firing on the security personnel at Chungi No 26 in Rawalpindi, Radio Pakistan said.

It also reported that two policemen were killed but didn't provide any details.

According to Punjab police, one policeman was killed at Hakla interchange on Islamabad outskirts during clashes with the PTI protestors on Monday but it also did not give details about the second policeman.

Separately, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, at a late night media interaction, that more than one hundred security personnel, mostly from police, were injured and added: “One senior police officer (SP) was critically injured – he suffered a severe head injury -- due to stone-pelting by protesters.” Radio Pakistan further reported that the Pakistan Army was called in “to deal with the miscreants with an iron hand” and “clear orders have also been issued to shoot miscreants and troublemakers on sight.” Strongly condemning the attack on Rangers and police personnel by protesters, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement, directed to immediately identify those involved in the incident and ensure they are brought to justice.

“Attacks on police and Rangers, under the guise of a so-called peaceful protest, are condemnable,” he said, adding, the anarchist group seeks bloodshed and “Pakistan cannot afford any form of chaos or bloodshed. Bloodshed for nefarious political agenda is unacceptable and highly condemnable.” He also instructed to provide the best possible medical facilities to those injured.

The puppets who are ruling Pakistan now, inc the Generals are working for US/Western/Zionist forces, aiming to bankrupt Pakistan. Pakistan is a nuclear power, it cannot be defeated by military means, so the idea has always been to generate mega hyper inflation and send the nation down by destroying its economy.

Im not sure if Pakistans PTI, Imran Khan (the only genuine people) are aware of this but they are the only ones who can change the course of the nation from a hole to some light.

The corrupt are making so much money, looting from the loans given to looting the cricket to looting energy etc. They will give orders to kill people for simply protesting in order to hold on to their power.

The generals are also making huge money, living like kings while the population is struggling with basic food and energy bills. Again they have no reason for change, as their lifestyle will tumble considerably.

There are two ways such movements can be a success, firstly is if some in the military decide to join them, ie a coup. There are some elements which are opposed to this regime and understand their plan but are they brave enough to risk everything they have for their nation?

The other is if there are mass killings of the public, which leads to an overwhelming public force against the ruling crooks.

Sadly its a very dangerous time for Pakistan, its future is in the balance. Cops and army should remember hellfire and defy orders to shoot on site.

The banana Republic showing his true colour's. The country is rife with Terrorism yet all their cowardly bravado is on the public.

I guess constant consumption of IMF, uncle sam will want something in return.

No real Islamic nation should ever entertain the notion of debt loans from IMF or world bank. This is a form of modern day slavery,as they can demand all types of price increases, cut backs and more poverty for the masses. Interest is just another form of a weapon used to control people and nations. Its not just against foriegn nations who are seens as threats but also to all people throughout the planet where interest is allowed. Ie in the UK , a large % owe more in debt compared to their income, meaning more debt and less to spend on their own needs. Pakistan can never improve while under this slave system. We all know who are the biggest lenders and promoters of interest.

That can’t be an excuse not to pay back what you owe? Those Islamic principles should be in place when you borrow the money not when it is time to return it lol.

Army Called in the National Capital with shoot at sight orders!
Are we in for another Tiananmen Square massacre? How safe is Pakistan?

Depends how widespread the protests are and how determined. There's obviously unhappiness in Pakistan with the ruling establishment, but how much do they want it?

In my opinion it will take Bangladesh levels of protests to defeat the army. If there is nationwide protest, sheer numbers will mean they can't cope with protesting and rioting. Factions of the army will turn against the establishment and refuse to shoot the public. That's when you will see the establishment crumble.

Whatever be the chaos, one must admire and respect the determination of a wife for her husband.
A true Savitri fighting even against Yamraaj for her Satyavan.

PK has been captured and held hostage by a criminal mafia that destroyed the economy, the law and order and the constitution. I dare anyone to tell us this isn't the case.

There is only chaos because the criminals want there to be chaos. In any society elections sort out the government’s, the Junta won't allow that because they lose their power to be above the law

Saw a few channels Ary Duniya, Geo on youtube.. most of the narrative seems to be very anti-PTI.
Geo seems a bit balanced .. Duniya literally calling protestors terrorists. While the chacha looking Al Jazeera reporter is a true Imran Khan supporter.

Who cares. No one watches them. They have been captured by the Junta and they get no viewers. Billions wasted by the Junta. Even the touts don't watch them and instead get their news from social media.

Blackout near protest area, another night of suffering, injustice cruelty. Wonder what role the IHC can play.

Surely this massacre has to stop, any forceful reaction may result in anarchy. The crook digital media are as much responsible as those in power.

As Hazrat Ali R.A said " kuffar ka Nizam chal skta ha zulm ka nhi"

There isn't anymore. The mafia own the mainstream media and they are just mouthpieces of the Junta. The YouTubers people trust are under threat- IRK was kidnapped and tortured for 6 months and all the other independent voices are always muted by the threats.

They are no different to the Zionist evil whom abduct people, torture them badly to the point they are mentally gone.

No mother , wife, sister or daughter wants their family members suffering in such horrific fashion.

Imran Khan has also been tortured, not physically to such an extent but mentally with how they have been treating them.

The Pakistani people need to either go all out, risk their lives , overthrow the government and junta or give up on this god forsaken country.

Im not as brave as these protesters or I prefer my life, easy for me to say sitting in the UK but I've had enough of Pakistan. I will only visit to see family members but wont care if this country is no longer Pakistan but a broken up nation of many provinces.

Bushra Bibi insisted on D-Chowk protest: Barrister Saif

Adviser to Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information, Barrister Saif, revealed the administration had suggested holding the rally on the outskirts of Islamabad, the proposal that PTI founder Imran khan had initially agreed to.

Speaking to a private TV channel, he explained that while the party’s announcement focused on D-Chowk, the administration had not granted permission for the venue.

The suggestion to hold the rally on the city’s outskirt was taken to the PTI chairman and he consented. However, the proposal was later rejected by the party members.

He disclosed Bushra Bibi insisted on holding the protest at D-Chowk.

“The release of our chairman must follow due legal process, but the government is influencing these cases unlawfully,” Saif asserted, reiterating that the protests are against the misuse of law to target the PTI leadership.

Bushra has been the victim of state brutality but has stood tall against evil.

IA we have some Junior officers knock some sense into this crooked Junta. The Mistry came in with a clean slate, so what did NS have on him that forced him to committ some many crimes against his own people including murder. He has destroyed our constitution and destroyed our faith in our army. I can't make any sense

What is the end game here, can some explain?

Its obvious the current government neither has the masses on its side nor the power to crush these things so it is clearly police/army fighting the protestors.

So if Imran wants to be handed over the reign doesn’t it mean army has to make that decision which means army has gone back on their decision?

Trying to understand what the end goal is.

For example: if people were protesting against farm laws in India, Indian govt took a step back and gave in at least temporarily. How is it going to work here as this seems a much larger demand with more stakes.

By burning down public assets?. Democracy is never achieved that way. What about people who don’t want IK to be the Pm? In democracy you have a process and you accept it if you like the result or not. By burning down stuff even if you get what you want it only leads to more autocracy. This is based on world events in the past usually but maybe it works out for you. No stakes here but this is not how fight for democracy works.

Protesting.

Those who are denying their democratic rights are burning down, locking up the capital and killing protestors.

Don’t pretend that you failed to understand an elementary concept just because it involves IK.

To get Champions Trophy cancelled from Pakistan. ICC had invited all World Cup winning skippers and Imran was in jail. Imran got angry at ICC for not taking a stand for him. Now he is going to make them pay.

Bushra Bibi, Gandapur ‘evade arrest’ amid grand operation against PTI protesters

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder’s wife Bushra Bibi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reportedly fled D-Chowk as authorities launched a grand operation against the protesters, ARY News reported, citing sources.

According to sources, hundreds of Punjab and Islamabad police personnel are taking part in the grand operation as around PTI protesters 450 were arrested.

The law enforcement agencies have successfully cleared the Bule Area, Khyber Chowk and Kulsoom Plaza from PTI protesters, as per sources.

Police fired tear gas shells at PTI protesters while gunshots were also heard, amid skirmishes between security personnel and protesters.

As per sources, both Bushra Bibi and KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur fled in the same vehicle as an Islamabad police squad persued them.

Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi handed over authority to police to tackle the PTI protesters.

They've ran away when the crap hits the fan , they wanna be far away when the bodies pile up.

What a bunch of cowards this cult has really brainwashed it's footsoldiers
As opposed to those who support criminals & murderers.

Recent elections clearly had a swing towards PTI and IK. Majority spoke their voice through vote for their leader

You should because you have suggested that people shouldn’t protest for their democratic rights.
I have no doubt Imran is extremely popular in Pakistan and probably would win a fair election hands down now in 2024 but don’t think he was a democratically elected leader the first time. You can tell me that is this propaganda or that but anyone with a common sense obviously knows how he became came Pm the first time . He was selected and deselected. That’s why I said it’s the wrong forum.

You can do your own research on this but I know this to be true

Read the news . :kp

These pti leaders are cowards. They talk big but always run away and leave their workers, supporters behind. They did the same thing during May 9th. The party is all IK or nothing. The rest are completely immaterial

Establishment 1 PTI 0

Another round goes to Establishment, PTI gained nothing apart from creating anarchy and getting a few more protestors killed.

That can’t be an excuse not to pay back what you owe? Those Islamic principles should be in place when you borrow the money not when it is time to return it lol.
Funny thing is not a single rich Islamic nation is ready to lend them money with interest free loans. Neither can taller than mountains friend who is sitting on 3 trillion dollars forex. Not a single Islamic country, either rich or poor, trusts to follow their own principles. Why would a western money backed organization provided interest free loans? Once you take money you have to follow the lenders requests. The worshipped hero, IK himself, went to IMF after postoring about it for years. Shows how limited pakistan options are.

These riots will achieve nothing apart from making the country more destabilized.

No one will point out or accept any article critical of IK. People forget how close IK was to Establishment when he came to power. Everyone spoke about how he is good working with the Establishment . He himself made several comments about how he is on the same page with Establishment . Establishment used IK to get back at NS who was becoming too big and now used PMLN again to get back at IK. If IK had waited in shadows few more years he would have made a comeback. This is the same playbook used by Establishment for decades now.

Day of Islamabad clashes ends in PTI protesters’ retreat

A day of pitched battles between security forces and PTI protesters across the federal capital ended in a hasty retreat of the party’s top leadership and supporters from the Red Zone in the early hours of Wednesday.

At least six lives were lost in the three days of protests, which included a policeman and three Rangers officials who perished in a vehicular accident, officials and hospital sources said.

The late-night retreat by the PTI leadership, including Bushra Bibi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, came after the latter was heard telling the protesters “to go home, have dinner and return tomorrow”.

So, just like thar everyone started to retreat. Are these really organic protests? What are the demands? Why retreat if you are right about your demands?

When one person is your cause, the protests are bound to fail. The protests should have been for democracy. Khan is no Mao Zedong for a revolution. Pakistan as a society is quite weak, this was a golden chance to once and for all to send the army back to the borders.

Bushra Bibi emerges as motivational force for PTI protesters

Bushra Bibi, the wife of former prime minister Imran Khan, has emerged as a major motivational force for the PTI protestors, who came to the forefront and led the charge, overshadowing everyone.

For the supporters and followers of jailed ex-premier Khan, it was the day of Bibi who made it to the high security Red Zone of the capital despite all odds and hurdles. The PTI convoy led by the former first lady and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur had left Peshawar for Islamabad over the weekend with the plan to hold a sit-in at the D-Chowk of Islamabad. PTI chief Imran Khan had given a call of the protest demanding release of all political prisoners, revocation of the 18th Amendment and return of stolen mandate.

By Monday night, most of the PTI leadership had agreed to the proposal of the Shehbaz Sharif administration that the venue of the protest should be changed from D-Chowk to Sangjani area, an outskirt of Islamabad. But it was Bibi who remained stuck to the party’s original protest plan and emphasized that they should reach the D-Chowk, the venue for the PTI’s power show. In October, Ali Amin Gandapur managed to bring the PTI protest march close to D-Chowk but only with the help of powers-that-be and then mysteriously disappeared, forcing the protestors to disperse in the absence of any leadership. This time Bibi gave hope to the followers of Khan that she would not leave them alone.

Earlier before her departure from Peshawar, differences had emerged between Bibi and CM Gandapur over her participation in the protest march. Gandapur wanted from her to avoid accompanying them, but she prevailed by saying if the PTI expected families to join the protest, then Khan’s family should be the part of the march by example. Bibi was considered apolitical till her release from jail in the last week of October, nearly nine months after her incarceration. Soon after her husband gave the protest call, the former first lady became active in politics and got herself busy in finalizing the protest strategy. She held meetings with the lawmakers and ticket-holders of the party, urging them to bring more people along with them to make the power show successful.

Shouldn’t have retreated.

But those sitting at homes shouldn't be complaining.
The leaders who run away at the first sight of real trouble. Are they worth following?
All PTI leadership did was sacrificed a few of their men, let establishment dominate and dictate and even claim they showed restrain. Won't be surprised if PTI actually loses ground support after this fiasco.

The leader is Jailed.

When the government is using the army against their own people, that is where you should retreat because you don't want any bloodshed.

It may sound like the PTI leadership ran away but the ground realities are not what the paid media is telling atm.
