MEERUT: Meerut police arrested Uttar Pradesh Navnirman Seva chief Amit Jani on Sunday in connection with the anti-Kashmiri hoardings that were put in parts of the state.
Hoardings calling for boycott of Kashmiris and asking them to leave Uttar Pradesh were put up by Jani's organization in Meerut and the Delhi-Dehradun highway outside colleges on Friday. The banners warned Kashmiris of "consequences" if they did not leave the state.
"A police team arrested Amit Jani while he was on his way from Delhi on Saturday night," a senior police officer told TOI.
