Any interview of Mahmood Khan to have an idea of his personality?

Almost every speech or video of him on youtube is in Pashto

First KP CM from Swat i guess? We had multiple KP CMs from places like Peshawar, DI Khan, Hazara, Charsadda, Nowshera it's i guess it's the first time we are having one from Swat.

Honestly I am not liking this nomination at all. This looks like Pervez Khattak has strong armed Imran Khan into it.

Any ideas why, if rumours are believed, why PK has it in for Atif Khan?

PK never liked Shahram and Atif (both of them are relatives) and remained directly in contact with IK bypassing PK in last 5 years.

Feeling really sad for Atif he deserved the CMship.

Insha'allah he gets something bigger/better eventually. Heard nothing but good things about him. Shame personal feelings have come into it. Too many insecure men in politics. They're representing the people, not their own egos

The wheels are coming off in Naya Pakistan already. Very early days, but all the talk of bringing a new dawn is looking like hot air right now.

Clearly not the start we were hoping for, and bear in mind - it is just the start.

What's wrong with Mehmood Khan? He is educated and a new face started his national level politics with PTI in 2012. I can understand the disappointment if Asad Qaiser, Shah Ferman or PK was made CM again but Mehmood isn't a bad choice and it's actually a surprise.

He is not a Khattack’s guy. He joined before Khattack and didn’t come from PPP either as far as I know.

I hope he does well. I know that he was Khattak's recomendation. I seem to have made a somewhat hasty assessment though. Many people saying he is an honest and dedicated guy whereas others others have raised questions on whether he is really competent enough.

But PTI needs to address the allegations against him on the alleged mismanagement of 1.8 million rupees.

Khattak wanted anyone to be CM except Atif Khan. His first choice was Asad Qaiser.

Bilawal is an Oxford graduate, but I wouldn't trust him to run anything :)

If you are rich enough, you can goto any university. Any you get to be competent in the subject area you studied.

What qualifies him to be CM of a province? what experience/political nouse is he bringing to the table?

Not a dig.... just interested in what makes him standout.

Money can get you into any university but money can't get you a computer science degree from a good university. Take it from someone who studied Computer Science :)

A lot of people arguing about Mahmood Khan's personality. It's time we think about merit politicians.

He was minister of sports/cultures/tourism in KPK last cycle. KPK has an incredible boost in tourism and Peshawer Zalmi has become a big economic drive for the city (though he doesn't take all responsibility he was overseeing it)

I am referring to his refusal to support recounting.

He is yet to take oath, but two promises have been broken already.

Promise 1: I won’t live in a lavish house.

Promise 2: I will support vote recounting.

Welcome to Naya Pakistan I guess?

Your right mate, its all over. NS and AZ all is forgiven.

Btw how many times have they recounted in the IK- Saad Rafiq election?

At least once. But the issue is he by passed the tribunal and went to LHC. He should put objections in front of the election tribunal not LHC. I believe PTI is concerned that based on this other people might go to LHC and stop the notification which might delay the government formation.

How do you guys see the nomination of Mehmood Khan as KP CM? I was honestly expecting either Atif or Pervez. Atif would have been best.

Don’t understand obsession with Atif. Mehmood khan in his first ever proper position of power performed very well. Purely based on merit Mehmood khan deserves it

I am not a frequent poster but I have followed debates on PP quite a bit. You used to be a fair critic of PTI and Imran Khan but now it just seems you just jump to the first anti-imran topic without giving much thought.

Imran is not even in power yet so how can he support the recounting process. If you are talking about the specific Khawaja Saad case then Imran has not stopped him from recounting but the courts is not the proper forum and recounts appeal should go through election tribunals (this has been discussed on a few channels already). Saad Rafique going to the courts open the doors for several other complainants taking the same route. This could potentially delay the entire election process.

To be fair, on your first point Imran clearly said he will not live in the PM house. He is keeping that promise. He definitely should have done a little bit of research for identifying another place. However, he will have a considerably lower lifestyle in any other place compared to the PM house.

So did Atif Khan. He did one heck of a job as the education minister.

Let’s not fish for excuses - Imran is clearly not being supportive of the recounting process which is contrary to his earlier claims.

Secondly, not living in PM House is not keeping up his promise; his promise was that he will not live in a luxurious place. The Punjab House is not as grand as the PM House, but it is still lavish.

Nothing about it screams “not luxurious”. A rich who claims that he will not get a Rolls-Royce doesn’t keep up his promise by getting a Bentley.

I know it is just the beginning, but it is far from an ideal start. Already, comprises are being made due to so and so reasons, and people are defending him. This is exactly what his critics were anticipating.

The people who have sworn to defend him no matter what are no better than the people who criticize him irrationally.

Recounting already done once on Khawaja Saad seat and IK was declared winner again i don't know why he want to go through the process again and this time through LHC instead of tribunal. There are at least 47 more seats where recounting is done or still going on and on 26 of them were ordered on July 31 https://nation.com.pk/31-Jul-2018/ecp-orders-recount-in-26-constituencies

Compare this with open only 4 halqas back in 2013 (denied) and see the massive improvement.

:trump

I am telling y'all, it was Imran Khan who forced innocent Nawaz Sharif to loot poor Pakistanis' money and stash it all around the world. The supreme court of Pakistan should hire psychics and fortune tellers to remove facade of Imran Khan's naya Pakistan. Furthermore, we must steal some more money and put Sharif Khandan in family so they keep on nurturing our nation like they did in Model Town.

Yeeeee-haaaaaw!

Let's oppress the poor!

Next CM to be axed if he fails to deliver in six months: Imran

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister-in-waiting and PTI chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday warned that he would replace Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s next chief minister and ministers if they failed to deliver the goods within three to six months of assuming office.

Good danda sir per raha to yeh deliver be kerenge

Again you are criticizing just for the sake of it. What hurdles is Imran creating for recounting. As someone has already mentioned, there have been several recounts already and the decision has gone against PTI in some of them. However, I have seen no hue and cry from Imran about it.

PTI is not even in power yet so you should really direct your criticism towards the ECP or towards PMLN and PPP who mutually appointed ECP’s chief election commissioner.

Biggest plus of Mahmood Khan, new CM KP:

He was a mere UC Nazim before joining PTI in 2012 so he is a genuine face of PTI not electable or lota.

No political family background like Pervez Khattak, Mehmood remains in low profile, avoids media and has no group within party.

(copied)

On a site note his current assets are worth 2.5 billion rupees (around $20 million).

Obviously one recount is not enough, we need to keep recounting until Saad Rafiq wins.

The Nooras refused to grant 4 constituencies (Halkas) for recounting from 2013 to 2018. Those who throw stones should not live in glass houses.

Was watching a Talk show where the anchor made some interesting points

- That IK has a habit of sleeping very late at night and by waking up at around 10-11 in the morning, taking a walk for 30 minutes on his property, excercising for an hour and a half, having breakfast, taking a shower, getting ready and then getting ready, busy in meetings all day from the afternoon to night.

The anchor was like IK will have to make a lot of changes in his lifestyle and habits now that he is going to be the PM.

Thought IK being a popular leader would wake up early and be an early bird.

Just a question why did Atif Khan drop out of the race for CM KPK.... I thought he had already been selected and seemed like a very wise choice by IK.

Most of KP MPs dont like him specially PK because Atif is also related to the powerful family of Terakais of Swabi PK thinks Terakai family will become really powerful in PTI KP. Atif and Shahram Terakai had lot of differences with CM PK in last 5 years and they bypassed him many times and reached IK directly.

My understanding is, IK shortlisted a few candidates and intrrviewed them. Atif Khan was one of them. His name was never finalized but media speculated it.

Most likely Imran Khan asked them what plans they had for the province.

Muavia joined Rah e Haq party so are we going to see any apologize from the media specially Shehryar Taseer who claimed he joined PTI?

Some of the candidates from Punjab and KP got a shut up call from IK personally when he found they are running campaigns through anchors and media to become CM

Knowing IK for this long I can say, none of this matters to him right now. He might have conducted these interviews in a corporate world way where he asked candidates for their next 5 year program. His choice might turn out to be good or bad, only time will tell but i strongly believe it’s baded on performance merit.

It’s based*

Am hearing that IK is placing all CM's, Ministers in the Centre and Provinces on 6 months probation after which performance will be reviewed by a PTI Committee and if found unsatisfactory, they will be let go.

This is going to get very ugly. In fact it is very much a possibility that a lot of people will leave PTI as a result for opposition parties.

This can get pretty ugly.... 6 months is too short a period.

Is Imran Khan also on 6 month notice period, or is he immune?

IMO it is a good measure... it is human nature to slack off if there is no accountability. I'm sure we won't see IK changing all the CMs and ministers en-masse after the six month period, but he would give a swift tap on the wrists to those not performing upto standard.

As PM, IK doesn't have direct control of ministries/provinces, and he can only manage the people managing them.

I was wondering, based on current provincial assembly members, can PTI gain a majority in Senate elections in 2021?

LAHORE (Dunya News) – A report compiled by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Election Cell revealed party had suffered massive defeat in the central Punjab at the hands of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N).

Out of 42 seats of National Assembly (NA) in central Punjab, PTI lost whooping 32 to their arch rivals PML-N. Likewise, PTI lost as many as 22 seats of Punjab Assembly (PA) from Lahore, managing victory in only eight seats of the provincial capital.

The report states tickets were issued by completely disregarding merit and overlooking surveys.

Cause of the debacle

It further read that tickets to several candidates for contesting elections on NA and PA seats were issued without proper scrutiny.

“Several families hailing from Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Kasur and Sheikhupura were awarded two tickets. Most of the candidates either did not run effective political campaign or opted serious strategy ahead of the elections”, read the report.

Exposing nepotism, report accused top brass of PTI Central Punjab of issuing at least 13 tickets of NA and 21 tickets of PA solely on personal relations.

He is yet to take oath, but two promises have been broken already.

Promise 1: I won’t live in a lavish house.

Promise 2: I will support vote recounting.

Welcome to Naya Pakistan I guess?

Not sure what lavish house are you talking about?

Imran Khan refused to stay in PM house, his own Bani Gala house is not secure enough so he has to stay somewhere which is secure and have meeting facilities since a PM won't be meeting with his party members only but hundreds of foreign ambassadors, investors etc. So not sure why you are purposely giving it a twist that he still prefers to live in so called LAVISH house.

As for re counting, PMLN is playing typical games to delay the entire process. Unlike Khawaja who took stay order for over 4 years, full re counting will happen at appropriate time.

Lol not many people leave government and joins opposition parties.

I think it’s a good thing. In 6 months if a minister isn’t making a progress he should be replaced. Pakistanis and KPK in particular gave PTI a heavy mandate so they need to pick up themselves from day 1.

Bring back the true leaders of the country.

Former National Assembly speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak on Thursday tendered their separate apologies to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for using indecent language during their election campaigns.

The commission had issued notices to Sadiq and Khattak last month, deploring the "abusive, insolent and derogatory" language used against other leaders that had been aired and published by the electronic and print media, besides doing rounds on social media.

Pointing out that this was a clear violation of the code of conduct issued by it, the ECP had asked the three political leaders to desist from using such language and summoned them to appear before it.

Lawyer Kamran Murtaza, who was representing Sadiq, submitted an apology on behalf of the ex-NA speaker before a four-member ECP bench headed by the chief election commissioner.

A clip was also played of the PML-N leader allegedly using derogatory language against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI). The bench reserved its verdict on the matter; it is expected to be announced today.

Meanwhile, former KP chief minister Khattak appeared before the ECP himself to face the charges. A video clip showing Khattak apologising over his remarks was also played.

The commission reserved its judgement on this matter as well.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has apologised to the Election Commission of Pakistan for violating the electoral code of conduct while casting his vote during the general election 2018.

A four-member bench headed by the chief election commissioner heard the suo motu case against the PTI chief today, after the ECP took notice of Imran publicly stamping the ballot paper in NA-53 Islamabad constituency, instead of going behind the voting screen to cast his vote in secrecy.

Imran's counsel Babar Awan, who appeared before the ECP today, submitted a written reply stating that his client did not intentionally stamp his ballot publicly.

According to the reply, photos of Imran's ballot were taken without his permission. The curtain, used around the ballot for secrecy, had fallen due to the crowd inside the polling booth.

The reply further seeks an end to the case and requests the ECP to issue notification for Imran's victory from NA-53 Islamabad.

Imran had defeated former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in NA-53 Islamabad, bagging 92,891 votes in contrast to the PML-N leader’s 44,314 votes.

The electoral body, however, withheld notification of his success from the constituency in view of the pending case against the PTI chief for violating the electoral code of conduct.

According to Section 185 of the Election Act, a person can be given a six-month jail sentence and/or fine of Rs1,000 for not casting their vote in secrecy.

On July 30, the ECP had sought a written reply from Imran, who is touted to be the country’s next prime minister after his party witnessed a resounding triumph in the July 25 general election.

Imran also made history by winning all five National Assembly seats he contested from in the polls.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday rejected Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) leader Abid Sher Ali’s plea for a recount in NA-108, reported Express News.

During the hearing of the plea by Justice Mamoonur Rasheed, the court issued a short order stating that the petitioner may approach the competent forum to review the matter.

The PML-N leader in his plea had alleged that polling agents were kicked out during the counting process and he had lost by a margin of 1,200 votes.

ECP denies receiving Rafique’s appeal for NA-131 recount

“Fake form 45 was used to let my contender win while the returning officer has rejected my plea for recounting without taking into account the facts of the case” the petition stated.

The petitioner had also requested the court to suspend Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Farrukh Habib’s victory notification until the recounting of votes was completed.

Habib won Faisalabad’s NA-108 constituency by taking 112740 votes against Ali’s 111529 votes.

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court (SC) suspended the LHC’s order for a vote recount in NA-131 (Lahore).

The constituency was won by PTI chairman Imran Khan, who defeated PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique by a small margin.

The LHC had barred the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from declaring the PTI chief successful until the completion of the recount process

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday accepted the apologies of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan, former National Assembly speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Pervez Khattak and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman for using indecent language during their election campaigns.

“Do not use such language in the future,” a four-member bench of the ECP headed by the chief election commissioner warned the four leaders while accepting their apologies.

The ECP also ordered that Khattak's victory notification, which had been previously withheld, be issued.

Earlier today, the four politicians had tendered their separate apologies to the ECP. However, the bench had reserved its decision in the cases.

Lawyer Kamran Murtaza, who was representing Sadiq, submitted an apology on behalf of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader. The bench also played a clip of the former NA speaker using derogatory language against the ECP, after which his lawyer issued an apology once again.

Meanwhile, Khattak appeared before the ECP himself and apologised.

Further, PTI chairman's counsel Babar Awan and Maulana Fazlur Rehman's lawyers also appeared before the four-member bench and tendered apologies on behalf of their clients.

Last month, the ECP had issued notices to the four politicians for using indecent language during their election campaigns.

The ECP had said notices were taken on the basis of media reports suggesting the use of foul language by the leaders.

There is no excuse for Imran Khan should he move to Punjab House which is still very lavish and luxurious.

Perhaps he should have checked with Khaqan Abbasi who lived in F-7 Islamabad for 10 months as PM.

Yeah lets ignore the billion dollars worth of LNG scandal by Abbasi or purposefully propping up his AirBlue just because he lived in F7 (which may or not be true)..... You may have voted for PTI but you will always remain a Noora.

But he wasnt the PM, even he said he wasnt. If he was there would have been billions more stolen by the LNG thief.

Over two dozen independents notify ECP on joining PTI

ISLAMABAD: As many as 28 independent winning candidates of the National Assembly officially notified the Election Commission of Pakistan on Thursday of joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

According to Express News, since the Election Commission of Pakistan has officially notified the public and winners from almost all the constituencies, 815 out of 849, and issued notifications, the process of joining parties has officially begun.

The independent winners had three days from the announcement to officially ally themselves with political parties and officially notify the electoral body.

Thursday was the last day for them to officially join parties. However, the victory notifications of 34 constituencies have been stayed by ECP for various reasons including pending cases and delayed polls.

According to sources within the election body, winners now have until 4pm to make the final decisions. Sources also reveal that 29 notifications have been received by the ECP out of which 28 are of those joining the PTI.

Rough weather made me miss multi-party alliance's protest against rigging: Shahbaz

PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday explained that his absence from a multi-party alliance's protest against alleged poll rigging a day earlier was due to rough weather and nothing else.

Shahbaz was the most notable absentee when an array of political leaders, united under the newly formed ‘Pakistan Alliance for Free and Fair Elections’, held a protest demonstration outside the Election Commission of Pakistan in Islamabad on Wednesday against alleged rigging in the July 25 general elections.

He explained today that his absence should not be misconstrued and reiterated that his party stands with the 11-party grand alliance on the issue.

"All the opposition parties held a comprehensive but peaceful protest yesterday," Shahbaz said during a media talk following his visit to Adiala Jail. "I couldn't be there because my flight was cancelled due to rough weather. No matter what people say, this is the truth.

"There will be more such protests in future. This issue will be raised in the assemblies. We're going to the assemblies not to congratulate but to raise this issue of the highest priority.

"The alliance that has been formed has already decided to get this issue investigated through a parliamentary commission. That commission will find out how the RTS was closed on election day and why the polling agents were kicked out of polling stations.

"The election that took place was utterly rigged. There was pre-poll rigging and then there was rigging on the poll day too. All the foreign magazines, newspapers, comments are saying that."

When asked if his absence from the protest had anything to do with circulating rumours that a 'deal' could be in the works to get his incarcerated sibling and former PM Nawaz Sharif out of jail, Shahbaz replied in the negative.

"Neither anyone wants to give an NRO this time, nor is anyone seeking it," he said.

The former Punjab chief minister also gave an update on Nawaz, whom he and several other PML-N leaders met in the Adiala penitentiary.

"His (Nawaz's) incarceration is a massive sacrifice for the nation," Shahbaz said. "I talked to him today. He gave a sincere Salam for the nation and asked for prayers. He is in great spirits. He doesn't want to do politics of agitation but after the injustice that happened in the polls, it's our right to raise our voice against that."

Shabaz is desperate for brother and niece to stay behind bars.

Oh bhai it is not a false claim. During his tenure as PM, he continued to live in his house in F-7/2.

A lot of people are not aware of it because he didn’t toot his own horn and didn’t publicize his decision to not move into the PM House.

However, he obviously couldn’t do all of that because it would have put Nawaz in bad light. Anyway, he deserves credit for it regardless of everything else.

He did host his son’s wedding in the PM House though.

Being ignorant is bad enough, but arguing to defend your ignorance is a lot worse. To claim that Khaqan Abbasi moved into the PM House after taking oath as PM is as laughable as claiming that the earth is flat.

It is a fact and everyone is aware of it. Everyone but irrational insaafians who are not clutching at straws to defend Imran’s decision to move into the Punjab House.

All the talk of living like a common man and refusing all protocol and VIP facilities have turned out to be nothing put hot air.

He has failed to walk the talk. End of story.
