Would that be good?

I think we need someone experienced and strong to be speaker, considering that we will have a strong and hostile opposition to deal with. Mian Mohammad Soomro would be a good choice in my opinion.

Soomro is experienced but here if SMQ agrees this post is good enough to sideline him for the next 5 years no more dramas.

We haven’t discussed the cabinet yet. Expected positions IMO
Speaker - Shah Mehmood Qureshi
Asad Umar - Finance minister
Shafqat Mehmood - Foreign Minister
Shireen Mizari - Interior Minister
Fawad Chaudhary - Information Minister
Environmental minister - Amin Aslam
Law Minister - Hammad Azhar/Ali Muhammad Khan

Not sure who will get the Defense ministry. I’m not sure if Shireen Mazari is the right person for the job. A) she is too hot headed. B)I’m not sure if she will be acceptable for the military establishment. Also her daughter is very anti-military.

I’m also not sure where we can fit Sheikhoo. Which ministry would he get?

‘1.67 million votes rejected countrywide in 2018 polls’: Fafen

ISLAMABAD: The number of votes rejected in the 2018 general elections was 1.67 million, 11.7pc more that the 1.5 million rejected in the 2013 polls, according to a report released by Free and Fair Elections Network (Fafen) on Friday.

The report says the increase in the number of rejected votes is observed in all four provinces and the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

Read: Rejected votes exceed victory margin in many constituencies

In the ICT area, the number of polls rejected from the count are more than double those in the 2013 elections.

There was a 40pc increase in the number of rejected votes in Balochistan, 30.6pc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, 7pc in Sindh and 6.6pc in Punjab.

The ballots excluded from the count surpassed the margin of victory in 49, or 18.1pc, of the 270 National Assembly constituencies where elections were held

Among these National Assembly constituencies, 26 are in Punjab, 11 in Sindh, six each in KP and Balochistan.

Similarly, the number of ballots excluded from the count exceeded the margin of victory in 120, or 21pc, of the 570 provincial assembly constituencies where elections were held.

Of these, 120 provincial assembly constituencies, 58 are in Punjab, 24 in KP, 22 in Sindh and 16 in Balochistan.

Of the 49 National Assembly constituencies where the number of excluded ballots exceeded the margin of victory, 21 were won by PTI, 11 by PML-N, six by PPP, three by the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), two by the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) and one each by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), Awami National Party (ANP), Jamhoori Watan Party and PML-Q. Independents won two of the constituencies.

Among the 58 constituencies of Punjab Assembly which witnessed the same phenomenon, PML-N won 26 seats, PTI 23, PPP two and PML-Q one. The remaining were won by independents.

In KP’s 24 constituencies, 11 were won by PTI, seven by MMA, two each by PML-N and PPP and one by ANP. An independent won one seat.

In Sindh’s 22 constituencies, nine were claimed by the PPP, six by GDA, four by PTI, two by Muttahida Qaumi Movement and one by MMA.

In Balochistan’s 16 constituencies, six were won by BAP, three each by PTI and MMA and one each by PML-N and the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.

Two candidates in Balochistan also won these seats.

Under section 95(5) of the Elections Act, 2017, returning officers are to recount the ballot papers at one or more polling stations in a constituency if a contesting candidate requests so in writing and the margin of victory is less than 5pc of the total votes polled in the constituency, or 10,000, whichever is lesser.

According to the provincial results of the 2018 general elections, 79 national and 169 provincial assembly constituencies have a margin of victory of less than 5pc of the total votes polled or 10,000.

PPP, PML-N unhappy with RTS probe terms of reference

ISLAMABAD: Both the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have called the proposed inquiry commission on the Result Transmission System (RTS) a mere eyewash, claiming that its terms of reference (ToR) are vague and fall short of addressing the core issue — did the system really crash or not?

“The letter of the Election Commission purported to be under Article 220, read with Article 218(3), Constitution, 1973, to the Secretary, Cabinet Division, to constitute an Inquiry Committee with reference to and pertaining with the failure of RTS on the 25th July 2018, is an attempt at a whitewash and is rejected”, former Senate chairman and PPP leader Senator Mian Raza Rabbani said in a statement issued on Friday.

Read: RTS controversy likely to haunt ECP, Nadra for a long time

Mr Rabbani argued that the terms of the investigation were ambiguous at best, and did not touch the real issues involved in the failure of the system. He said that the failure of the RTS had brought into question the reliability of the entire election itself — a process that has already been marred by allegations of rigging, both pre-poll and poll day.

Mr Rabbani said that the proposed terms of the probe made no mention of the controversy generated by the statement of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), in which it claimed that the system remained functional.

“The seriousness of the issue at hand requires that the question of the failure of the RTS or otherwise be inquired into by the Committee of the Whole of the Senate in the upcoming session,” he added.

PML-N information secretary Senator Mushahidullah Khan also endorsed Mr Rabbani’s views and said that the proposed inquiry commission with its equivocal ToR would serve no purpose. In fact, he added, the investigation was set up to be nothing more than a bureaucratic cover-up strategy.

He said the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was indirectly responsible for the RTS controversy as it saw everything unfold during election day, but did not exercise its authority to intervene.

“It had in fact abdicated its authority and thus in a way became partner in crime,” he added.

The PML-N senator said that the terms of the investigation should specifically mention — as a stated goal of the inquiry — that the commission would find out if the RTS broke down or it was deliberately not used for a certain amount of time. And, most importantly why?

Mr Khan argued that the ECP must first conduct an inquiry to see how the vote counting process had been completed in the absence of polling agents. He also criticised the ECP for what he called the role of a silent spectator over the recent evidence of ballot papers being found in rubbish bins in Karachi. He said ballot papers had also been found by students in their desks as they returned to school — most of them with stamps voting in favour of the PML-N, PPP and Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal candidates.

He also pointed to some videos that had gone viral on social media, showing individuals in uniform involved in the counting process. He said the ECP’s role had become questionable in the 2018 elections as it had surrendered its administrative authority.

A senior ECP official, when contacted, rejected the allegations against commission as baseless and said that the ECP was serious in finding out what had gone wrong.

He said the results were pouring in at a quick pace till 11pm on election day, when the system started slowing down — ultimately coming to a standstill.

“We are not accusing Nadra or anybody. It might be a problem of connectivity or some other technical issue,” he noted.

He disagreed with the view that the ToR was vague and said the term ‘trail of events’ — included in the investigation guidelines — was all encompassing, and that it referred to everything that happened on election day and afterwards.

Opposition parties to protest outside ECP on 8th

ISLAMABAD: A grand opposition alliance with the name of “Pakistan Alliance for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFE)” finally emerged on Friday to confront the new coalition government led by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) as the action committee formed by the leaders of major political parties finalised a protest plan against alleged rigging in the July 25 general election.

Talking to Dawn, a member of the action committee and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed said the newly formed 11-party opposition alliance would hold its first protest demonstration outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Islamabad on Aug 8, whereas the next day similar protests would be held outside the offices of the provincial election commissions.

He said the component parties of the PAFFE would direct all their winners, ticket-holders and senators to participate in the protest demonstration outside the ECP. Besides this, he added, they had also decided to lodge a strong protest inside and outside parliament during the first sitting of the National Assembly. “We will lodge a protest inside and outside parliament and it will be a strong protest, but in a civilised manner.”

Mr Hussain said the committee had also decided to hold public meetings and protest rallies all over the country and their dates would be finalised soon, adding that they had also decided to hold a public meeting in Islamabad. He said some parties wanted to hold the public meeting as soon as possible, but it seemed that it might not be possible before Eid which would fall in the third week of this month.

Moreover, he said, they would also organise a “national conference on rigging” in which not only the parties but members from civil society, lawyers and journalists would also be invited.

The participants of a multiparty conference had on Thursday constituted the 16-member joint action committee to prepare terms of reference, a plan for future cooperation and a joint strategy for the protest campaign.

Besides the Pakistan Peoples Party and PML-N, the opposition alliance comprises the Awami National Party, Qaumi Watan Party, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, National Party (NP) and the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) — an amalgam of five religio-political parties, including the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F), Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP-Noorani).

The alliance had already decided to field joint candidates for three coveted offices of the prime minister, National Assembly speaker and deputy speaker under an agreed formula against the PTI nominees. It was agreed that the PPP would nominate the candidate for the office of speaker, the MMA for the deputy speaker’s office and the PML-N would field the candidate for the office of prime minister.

Mr Hussain said it was the right of the parties to nominate anyone as candidate for the offices. He confirmed that the name of Shahbaz Sharif as a candidate for the office of the prime minister was discussed during the meeting, but said no final decision had so far been taken. He said Mr Sharif could nominate any other senior party member as the candidate.

Similarly, he said the PPP would decide the candidate for the office of the NA speaker. Sources in the PPP said the party had almost given a green signal to former opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah to contest for the NA speaker office.

Talking to the media after the MPC on Thursday, PPP’s Sherry Rehman said they had rejected the results of “rigged polls” and despite having different agendas and manifestos, the parties had agreed to adopt a joint strategy against the rigging. Alleging that a particular party had been supported through “interference”, she had declared that they would “fight the puppet government”.

ANP’s Iftikhar Hussain even claimed that they were “in a position to form the government”, saying that they were in “offensive mood and not in defensive mood”.

PML-N’s Ahsan Iqbal said that it was for the first time in the country’s history that all major parties had rejected the elections from one platform within a week after the polls.

MMA general secretary Liaquat Baloch said all the parties had decided to go to parliament and make joint efforts to “protect the Constitution and democracy”. He said they had made the ECP all powerful, but it allegedly surrendered its powers to someone else, adding that it was perhaps the first election of its kind in which the winners felt ashamed and the losers were trying to find the clue as to why they had been kept out of the race.

PPP considering Khursheed or Nafisa for NA speaker

LAHORE: Syed Khursheed Shah and Dr Nafisa Shah are figuring prominently among the likely candidates for the National Assembly speaker from the PPP.

The party in a meeting, presided over by Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, in Islamabad on Thursday evening discussed credentials of its various MNAs-elect to run for the coveted office after the joint opposition reached the agreement that it would support PPP nominee for the speaker’s slot and of Muttahida Majlis Amal for deputy speaker.

A source privy to the development says that the arguments put forward in favour of Khursheed Shah were that not only he was a seasoned politician in the political field since 1988 he had also earned a name as opposition leader in the National Assembly, and developed good relations with leadership of other parties through his humble persona and won many admirers from among rivals because of his gentle style of politics.

Dr Nafisa was considered for she could attract votes of women parliamentarians from the ‘treasury’ benches through the contacts she had developed as general secretary of Women Parliamentary Caucus.

Holding a PhD in social and cultural anthropology from the Oxford University, Ms Shah proved her administrative skills by leading Khairpur, Sindh, district government as Nazim from 2001 to 2007.

She has also been a parliamentarian since 2008 for she was elected twice on reserve seat for consecutive two terms - 2008 and 2013-18. In the July 25 vote, she defeated former Sindh chief minister Syed Ghaus Ali Shah on a general seat bagging over 100,000 votes.

She has been chair of the National Commission for Human Development and vice-president of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association.

It may be recalled that earlier PPP’s Dr Fehmida Mirza served as National Assembly speaker from 2008-13.

What the hell :)))

This is just too much :))) :)))

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Former cricket star Imran Khan’s party, which won Pakistan’s July 25 general election, said on Friday it had enough support in the National Assembly to form a government after more than a week of talks with other parties and independent politicians.

Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), or Pakistan Movement for Justice, did better than expected to scoop up 16.86 million votes, trouncing the party of jailed former premier Nawaz Sharif, which finished second with 12.89 million.

But the 116 seats won by Khan’s lawmakers were not enough to give him a majority without coalition partners in the National Assembly, which has 342 seats including 70 set aside for women and members of religious minorities.

Fawad Chaudhry, a PTI spokesman, told reporters on Friday that the party believed it had the support of 180 lawmakers when it counted coalition partners and holders of reserved seats.

The coalition would include the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), which has dominated politics in the port megacity of Karachi for decades, and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), a new alliance in Sindh province, Chaudhry said.

“God willing, we will be going much ahead of the absolute majority,” he added.

PTI has said it expects Khan to take the oath as prime minister before Aug. 14, Pakistan’s independence day.

Pakistan’s two former dominant political parties said on Thursday they would join forces to field their own candidate for prime minister in parliament.

However, the opposition alliance was not believed to have the numbers to block Khan’s election.

A European Union election monitoring team in its initial assessment described the election campaign as an unequal playing field, describing a “systematic effort” to undermine Sharif’s former ruling party, but said it was up to the people of Pakistan to decide on the vote’s legitimacy.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court reserved on Saturday verdict on petition by PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique over recount of votes in NA-131, the seat won by PTI chief Imran Khan.

While speaking to the media at Lahore High Court, Saad Rafique said the recently held polls were “selection not election”.

The PML-N leader also criticised Imran’s statements over vote recount, saying the latter would support revoting on the media but was speaking against it in the court.

Saad Rafique challenged his opponent, Imran’s, victory in the closely contested NA-131 Lahore 9 constituency. The former railways minister alleged that the presiding officer deliberately rejected hundreds of votes.

In his application, the PML-N leader demanded a recount of the votes from the said constituency. Until the votes are recounted, the results from the constituency should not be announced, he requested.

Prior to the election, Saad Rafique had said Imran will lose badly against him in Lahore.

“The well-educated, sincere and patriotic voters are with us. The people of the constituency will not vote for a political stranger,” he had said.

He mocked PTI, saying the party failed to gather even 200 people at the initiation of the election campaign.

“Imran’s political campaign inauguration failed not only in Lahore, but Mianwali and Islamabad as well,” according to Saad Rafique.

It has become like a never ending thing. Not sure this is the first time it’s happening or people went to courts before as well, after losing the elections.

When one wins through use of unfair means, he/she is bound to always think that a fair win is not possible, even if there are no evidences.

Imran Khan questions top leadership over tickets' irregularities

BANI GALA (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and PM-in-waiting Imran Khan has on Saturday decided to probe irregularities in issuance of party’s tickets for General Elections 2018.

The decision came after party’s workers and leaders accused top brass of distributing tickets for money.

As per details garnered, PTI leader has thoroughly questioned top leadership in wake of corruption allegation.

Sources privy to PTI further stated that cricketer-turned-politician has also expressed exasperation over the tickets’ issue. Khan also lambasted those leaders who played vital role in issuance of tickets to the failed candidates.

Before General Elections 2018, ruptures had emerged within the ranks of PTI while disgruntled leaders—who were not given tickets—also staged weeks long protest outside Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala.

A devastating snake like interview being done by MQM P Leader Amir Khan on the Dunya news programme "Sawal Awam Ka" hosted by Masood Raza just now.

This AFTER the meeting yesterday with Imran Khan.

The interviewer asked Amir Khan that PTI has a stronger mandate than MQM and Amir Khan's response was to suggest that the mandate was "engineered" in PTI's favour. He wanted 7 full recounts for MNA and provincial seats and refused to accept that PTI had performed well in Karachi.

Slime ball attack on PTI'S Ali Zaidi. Amir Khan claims that Ali Zaidi wasn't even good enough to win a council seat so how has he performed so well now?

This a day AFTER going to lunch with Zaidi and agreeing to join PTI after meeting Imran at Bani Gala!!!

Snide, subtle remarks against Imran's victory and not once would he accept that PTI had done so well across the country.

I really hope and Imran and PTI were watching this interview.

These slimeballs are not to be trusted at all. They will sit in opposition after 4 or 5 months GUARANTEED.

But Imran had no choice after the Punjab ticket fiasco which cost us 6 seats.

ECP hints at re-polling in Karachi's NA-247

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday stated that results of NA-247, Karachi might be declared null and void and a re-polling might be carried out there if investigation finds irregularities.

The announcement came in the wake of recovery of at least 150 ballot papers bearing stamps on arrow symbol [PPP’s electoral symbol in General Elections 2018] from garbage dump in Qayyumabad area of Karachi.

Director Elections Nadim Qasim told media personnel that complete record of all polling stations of NA-247 is available with the electoral body.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders stated that thousands of ballot papers bearing stamps on symbol of arrow [PPP’s electoral symbol in General Elections 2018] have been recovered from garbage dump in Qayyumabad area of Karachi.

“Transparent elections were not held across country. Even candidates were barred from carrying mobile phones inside polling stations”, Ghani told reporters.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate was successful on the NA-247 seat securing 91,020 votes. PPP candidate Abdul Aziz Memon received 19,552 votes.

PPP stood 5th in this constituency. PPP are themselves emblem of corruption , don't be surprised if they themselves did so to create drama.

Nevertheless, if ECP hold re polling in this constituency it will show PPP their worth in this constituency.

It was agreed upon that they will keep protesting.. to stay relevant in Karachi I guess..

Khursheed Shah named opposition’s candidate for NA speaker

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Saturday named Syed Khursheed Shah for the slot of National Assembly speaker. He will be the joint candidate of all the opposition parties.

PPP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had approved Mr Shah’s candidature.

Khursheed Shah served as leader of the opposition in the outgoing National Assembly.

The grand opposition alliance had decided at a multi-party conference (MPC) on Thursday to field joint candidates for the offices of prime minister, NA speaker and deputy speaker against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) nominees Briefing reporters about the decisions taken by the MPC, PPP leader Sherry Rehman said that her party would nominate its candidate for the office of speaker, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) for deputy speaker and the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) would contest for the office of prime minister.

Sources told Dawn that PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif himself would contest against PTI chairman Imran Khan for the PM’s office.

Imran to form 15 to 20-member cabinet in first phase: sources

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to form a 15-20 member federal cabinet in the first phase of government formation, sources informed Geo News, after a high-level party meeting on Saturday.

The party has decided to maintain a small cabinet at the meeting held at Banigala residence of the PTI chief.

Sources said the party has decided to induct Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan in the federal cabinet. The MQM-P will have one minister in the federal cabinet, while an adviser would be inducted later.

PTI leader Imran Ismail has been tasked to finalise matters with the MQM-P, according to the sources. He is expected to hold a meeting with the MQM-P members on Sunday.

The PTI chief has decided to not give any federal ministry to the members of Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), however, its leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi would be nominated for Punjab Assembly speaker, the sources said.

They added that Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) will be given a federal ministry for their support in the centre, whereas the PTI will support BAP in getting its chief minister elected in Balochistan.

The PTI is also expected to get two ministries in the Balochistan cabinet.

A day earlier, the PTI and MQM-P also signed a nine-point memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the formation of a new government in the centre.

The two parties reached the agreement following a meeting at Bani Gala residence of PTI chief Imran Khan. The MoU was signed by MQM-P's Faisal Sabzwari and PTI leader Arif Alvi.

The MoU
 The resolution passed by the National Assembly regarding Karachi census and as decided in the Council of Common Interest should be implemented immediately.

 In line with PTI and MQM manifesto, the local government system in Sindh and Punjab does not conform to the constitutional requirements under section 140 A. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will support the petition of the MQM(P), which is before the Supreme Court of Pakistan in this regard.

 The Karachi operation shall be reviewed in totality and in consultation with all stakeholders. All parties should have a level playing field.

 All appointments in the government should be based on merit and according to law through an accredited, impartial testing system.

 Octroi was abolished in 1988, the decision made then was that the affected cities would be compensated with a share in proportion to the loss, in lieu of Octroi taxes. That decision should be implemented fully.

 The urban centres of Sindh, including Karachi, have been severely neglected in the past. A direct financial package will be announced immediately that shall be disbursed by the federal government, with special emphasis on water.

 Both parties shall strive to introduce police reforms as implemented by PTI in KP and promised by MQM(P) in its manifesto, so that police is de-politicised and recruited with merit in letter and spirit according to law that envisages local recruitment.

 A university of international level and repute shall be established in Hyderabad.

 It is agreed in line with the statement given by PTI chairman, election audit would take place of any of the constituencies pointed out by MQM(P).

LAHORE: Amid anxious moments for potential candidates for the Punjab chief minister and ministers, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has given yet another deadline – now ranging from one week to 10 days.

For the past one week, the candidates and their supporters have been lobbying for the coveted slots. The party leaders had earlier announced that the chief minister would be announced within 48 hours but now they say it may take more time as Imran Khan is busy in forming the federal government.

Party’s central information secretary Fawad Chaudhry said the Punjab chief minister and cabinet members would be announced till Aug 11 or a maximum of 10 days from now onward. He also told the media persons that the party had got the support of 26 independent candidates and was in a strong position to form its government even after the party candidates relinquish the Punjab Assembly seats to retain the National Assembly seats.

Besides potential candidates’ anxiety, the Punjab bureaucracy is also eagerly looking towards the PTI about its decision of appointing the chief minister in Punjab.

ARTICLE CONTINUES AFTER AD

Meanwhile, the PTI leaders say the PML-N rulers have been exposed as the loadshedding has reared its ugly head once again because the power generation companies stopped working due to a lack of payment after July 31.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will formally announce party chairman Imran Khan as candidate for the next prime minister of Pakistan on Monday.

“A parliamentary meeting of the party will take place tomorrow at a private hotel in Islamabad,” PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said on Sunday.

All MNAs-elect of the party have been directed to be present at the meeting, he added.

“Imran Khan will be formally announced as the party’s nominee for premier during the meeting,” Chaudhry said.

Claiming that the PTI is now in the clear to form the government in the centre, Chaudhry said, "PTI’s seat tally in the National Assembly currently stands at 125 after the inclusion of independents."

Allies and reserved seats will take the PTI tally to 174 seats in NA, he added.

Further after the support of Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M), the party will have 177 seats, Chaudhry said.

PTI had emerged in the lead with 116 NA seats during the July 25 polls.

On Thursday, however, the political parties aligned against PTI announced that they are fielding their own candidate for prime minister in Parliament.

The parties, including the PML-N, PPP, MMA, and ANP, decided to field their own consensus candidates for the prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker slots in the National Assembly.

PTI MPA-elect dies of brain haemorrhage

Sardar Tariq Khan Dareshak, an MPA-elect of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Sunday passed away at the age of 66.

The funeral prayer was offered in his ancestral town in Punjab’s Rajanpur district. DSP Ibrahim Khan Daresak said that his brother suffered from a brain haemorrhage five days ago, after which he was shifted to intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Multan. He spent the last three days on a ventilator, the brother also said.

Tariq Khan secured a seat from PP-296 Rajanpur. He bagged 42,119 votes and defeated independent candidate Sardar Mohammad Yousaf Dareshak with a margin of 15,000 votes.

Tariq started his political career in 2008. He contested his first elections in 2013 on a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ticket against his maternal uncle Sardar Nasrullah Khan Dareshak who contested polls as an independent candidate and won.

In July 25 polls though, the deceased family ended all political differences and united under the banner of “Dareshak Ittihad” and extended support to the Imran Khan-led PTI.

IK should go along with this. He needs to keep Sethi in his position, shows that there's no personal or political malice, then when the iron is hot, do to him exactly what Sethi did to Sharjeel. In fact not even do it himself. He should recuse himself from his position of PCB patron in chief, make it totally apolitical, and strengthen the institutions to bring him down. Then act all surprised and state how disappointed you are in him. Leave a little nudge nudge wink wink in the statement to let the Khooni liberals know you planned this from the start, sit back and watch them burn.

So you want Sethi to be carping at IK about his election from his politically appointed position and IK should just let be. No

Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. Such sad news.
Multan? I take it we're gonna have a by election, Works out perfectly for SMQ. Almost too perfectly, if he was Russian I'd be asking serious questions. Anyway, Ladies and gentlemen I present to you our next chief minister of Punjab.

Najam Sethi hasn’t done thing worth mentioning as far as fixing domestic cricket is concerned. So he should be thrown out.

On PSL front he has done some solid work, so he should be kept there if possible otherwise replace him with someone better.

Yep i heard about this CMS (Constituency Management System) developed by PTI to help the candidates to get all the details about their voters, polling stations etc through a simple mobile app and from what i heard JKT was in favor of it and he forced PTI to use it when he was shown the demo a couple of years ago. In this election PTI showed how they learned from their mistakes and blunders in 2013! they were well prepared even trained thousands of polling agents. 5 years in fed govt and PTI will change the face of our politics and elections

I heard about this app a couple of days before the election. There was a social media message from Imran Khan as well where he ordered every worker and candidate to use the app as it would allow them to facilitate their voters on election day.

I haven't used the app myself but I can support some of what is written in the article. On my polling station the other parties either did not bother showing up or did not know what to do to help their voters. You see the voters had to take their family number and silsala number with them, you could find that out through the ECP messaging service but on the polling day it didn't seem to be working properly for some, others couldn't understand the message and many people such as myself left their cellphones in their cars or homes as we weren't allowed to take them inside the polling station. The insaf student federation though were able to provide assistance thanks to their system. And one must appreciate the fact that they would help everyone regardless of his political affilation and would say:"yaar vote to daal ao jisse bhi daalna ha, aur jo naya banda milta ha usse bolo humare desk se slip le jaye (just vote doesn't matter who you want to vote for and please direct any new person who comes towards our desk to take the slip)".

They were very well prepared except the central Punjab ticket allocation debacle but InshAllah we will rectify that in future too. I think opposition parties in Pakistan underestimated social media and technology power.

exactly it backfired for them they used to taunt PTI and IK as party of social media and PM of Twitter :yk They had PITB and Umar Saif under their wings still they were unable to compete with PTI when it comes to Technology and social media.

Was Umair Saif willing to help them?

Was Umair Saif willing to help them?

Umar Saif was working under Shobaz since 2011 he was head of PITB so he must be on board with him otherwise Shobaz don't like honest peopel around him. Umar Saif got involved into too many tech related controversies. When NADRA data got leaked by Punjab govt at that time too Umar Saif named appeared on screen than there were reports that he is helping PMLN's social media team and i also noted guys from PITB running PMLN social media campaigns.

W-t-h is Firdos Shamim doing? Is he trying to sabatoge IK’s prime ministership?

Don't worry this will happen from both sides they are opponents in Karachi and got into an arrange marriage at federal level but they can't play friendly openly otherwise it can dent their votebank in Karachi so they will keep playing the blame game in Karachi.
