5 matches in UAE against in-form opposition.

What do you think will be the outcome?

Malik's captaincy and the selections of Shinwari, Mohammad Rizwan and Yasir Shah are major concerns for me. We dont know how Abid Ali and others will cope with the absence of Babar who usually is the one to keep the ship sailing.

3-2 Pakistan.

On a side note, can we ask Aussies to play one match in Pakistan?

Its Dubai and Pakistani spinners will be successful and Australian firepower will be practically useless.

Grinding batsmen like Malik are very likely to be successful.

I predict 4-1 to Pakistan based on the location, condition and nature of the pitch. Were it in England, it would have been 3-2 to Australia.

Which spinner? Yasir is the “specialist” spinner selected for this series.

Just be aware they blanked us 3-0 last time we met in the UAE and the series prior to that we lost also. We were hopeless in the recent Asia Cup hosted in the same location. Aus will be tough, beating India in their backyard is no mean feat. However, I'll be delighted to take 4-1 Pakistan.

Your only spinners are Yasir Shah and Imad Wasim, the latter doesn't even spin the ball and the former shouldn't even be in the side

Australians will gain a lot of confidence from their performances against India, Pakistan will have their work cut out. We also arent' playing any quality spinners

I think it will be a close series. It might go 3-2 to either side.

3-2 to Pak or 4-1 to Aus, the Aus side must be playing pretty good to beat India in India so we might lose badly or since we have a lot of new players they might surprise the Aussies and we might sneak a series win.

Yet you conveniently forget how we dominated New Zealand in the last two ODIs in the series AFTER the Asia Cup?

Or is Australia better than New Zealand now?

4-1 to Australia. After they outplayed India we don't have any chance to stand. Yasir, Shinwari, Abbas will be murdered by Australian Batsmen

Looking at his current status i believe that Amir,Junaid and hasnain will be the 3 fast bowlers. Faheem as the allrounder. So don't think shinwari will get selected.

Although I'm happy to see selections like Saad Ali and Hasnain and even Junaid Khan, I had decent hopes for this team but with the likes of Malik captaining and Yasir probably being the lead spinner, I think the team will put up a decent fight but not have the firepower to get through.

I don't see the australians winning to be quite honest. It will be a repeat of the t20 series because aggressive players tend to suffer on dead uae pitches. They might have won in indian batting friendly pitches but i don't see them winning , even against this pakistan B side.

Before the Indian ODI series, i thought the Aussies would be roadkill for pakistan in UAE. But they performed so well and i can see them winning 3-2 in UAE also.

I'm not forgetting that series as I was merely stating our record against Aus the previous times we have played them in the UAE. As far as the NZ series is concerned, yes we thrashed them in the 2nd ODI but last ODI, you can't really say as the NZ reply was only 7 over old chasing 280 before match was abandoned. So I would hardly call it a domination.

I think Aus win the matches in which Pak are trying out new players.

4-1 Aus, Malik the captain lol... that 1 win will be if Sarfi returns.

Lol did you see how Australia played Kuldeep and Chahal in India ? They chased down 358 after being 15-2 :)) .

Also Yasir Shah and Imam aren’t big turners of the ball.

Yeah but uae pitches aren't dead. Maxwell scored like 11 runs in the t20is in the uae but scored a lot more in india. Now don't say every series is different coz australia as a whole performed a lot worse in the uae.

The way Australia played against India in India, if they keep the same form, Australia will beat Paksitan 5-0.
I voted 4-1 in favor of Australia.

If u would have been some knowledge about pitches in the uae, you'd know that 280 is a VERY difficult target. It was highely unlikely they'd have chased it down. So up to the point when the rain started we were dominating.

Australia beat us 3-0 in 2014 in the uae. India are gun at home. If Australian batters apply themselves, they can score runs in the uae. Also they have 2 spinners who make the team on bowling merit. Don’t assume that our batters won’t struggle against their spinners as well.

It's difficult but not unreachable especially for a side like NZ. The fact is series ended in 1-1 draw although it is good to take moral victories also where we have dominated some games or part of the game.

Australia in good form, Pakistan with a newish squad but expect to see Pakistan hold sway

280 is a difficult target in the UAE, but when your frontline spinners are Shadab and Imad, the opposition are always in with a chance. Batting second in the UAE in ODIs is often favourable - the ball comes onto the bat better. India mauled Pakistan in the Asia Cup and Hong Kong nearly chased 280 against India.

At 30/1 in 6 overs, New Zealand were not out of the game. Yes we were favourites at that point, but calling it a domination is a complete stretch.

A relatively good series against New Zealand does not change the fact that post Champions Trophy, we have been thoroughly exposed against the big teams in ODIs, and have proved to be minnow bashers. Nevertheless, this Australian series is a good opportunity to amend our shambolic record in the UAE, but we will have our work cut out for sure.

I think Australia will take the series..
We have an inept captain who shouldn’t even be in the side and are lacking some of our good players.

Hoping for the best though...

Pakistan victory in my view but a hard fought one

:))) We were actually being too generous here saying 280 is difficult and Mamoon was spot on with his analysis. We need to STOP with this minnow mentality of 280 is a great score, it's too difficult to chase blah blah. The days of 280 being a great score anywhere in the world are long gone.

Come on. That's too harsh. It was a pretty decent total. It's like giving 400 to zimbabwe. They won't defend it. But that doesn't mean it's a good total.

Don't worry, the team will collect their token victory in this series. Still calling 4-1.

The 5-0 to Pakistan result out of the window now.... 3-2 for Pak stlll realistic

I said 4-1 to Pakistan.

I am still not changing my prediction.

Series is looking like a joke now. I see a lot of positives in the batting, with Rizwan and Haris showing they have something in the tank. Our bowling attack seems to be a snake without venom. In the 2nd ODI the only balls I saw bother the Aussies were Hasnain's bouncers. Maybe bowl first on the toss?

not sure where the optimism for some of the posters is coming from.

we've only been able to win against Sri Lanka and West Indies in the UAE since 2007

A lot of us hoped this would be a close series but looks like a whitewash is possible.

Pakistan is doing pretty good. Their reserve batsmen are coming good. Their bowling was never an issue. They are looking like a strong contender for the world cup.

I expected 3-2 Australia

the squad we have is poor
not sure why they are resting the actual captain when we need to see him in action and see how his captain skills are against B side Australia team

Imam is hit and miss
Rizwan is useless and him scoring century will keep him around, we've seen how he actually peforms

Sohail/Akmal need to perform consistently

Well I was expecting it to be 3-2 to Pakistan but it seems it's going to be 5-0 to Australia..

Certainly looking like a 5-0 isn't it.

With Cummins out of the way, there is a glimmer of hope...

We will win the last game...

UA/Harris all know that the last game counts because our selectors and Management is dumb enough to only look at that so we will definitely win the last ODI.
