with the group stages done thought it was a fair enough time to make this list.

Shortlist:

Haider Ali: 109 runs at 18, 112
in a high-scoring tournament which has seen the emergence of some young hitting talent for Pakistan, the former Pakistan batsman, one fifty notwithstanding, floundered at every opportunity.

Khushdil Shah: 47 runs at 15, 118, 1 wicket at 85
another former Pak international who seems to have brought his international form into the PSL. severely lacking in confidence, his secondary skill of contributing with useful wickets seems to have alienated him too.

Mubasir Khan: 13 runs and 1 wicket in 6 games
Having registered some excellent all round performances at domestic level hopes were high for mubasir, but the step up just seemed too much. didnt stay at the crease long enough to show his stroke play, and his bowling seemed one dimensional on good batting tracks. good fielding was one bright spot.

Odean Smith: 50 runs, 6 wickets at 40, 10.5rpo
Everyone can have an off day, but the issue with Odean Smith was that his performance was roughly in line with what you would expect from his career stats, which begs the question who thought he would add value on good batting tracks, when there are numerous significantly better domestic bowlers.

Sharjeel Khan: 42 runs at 10.50
Clearly evident that stalked by father time, the lightning fast eye that Sharjeel once possessed has deserted him. Looking out of his depth at every opportunity in a PSL studded with exceptional batting performances. An international comeback which was being argued prior to the PSL appears an impossibility at this stage.

Mohammad Nawaz: 100 runs at 12, 9 wickets at 35
Perhaps this is a bit harsh, but with an aging Sarfraz the Quetta team revolved increasingly around Nawaz, who despite a few reliable bowling outings failed to contribute meaningfully with the bat, and was one of the core reasons of the teams lack of balance.

Overall winner:
Haider Ali - Unfortunately the lad will likely have to go back to the drawing board, and completely re-evaluate his game. A return to national ranks seems highly unlikely, and with little domestic cricket for the next 6 months a chance to quickly bounce back is unlikely too. For a batsman who looked at home at under 19 level in South Africa, and with 3 FC centuries in 11 games, the technical degradation of his game is alarming. however with time on his side all is not lost, some time away from the game and the possibility of a full domestic FC season might be exactly what he needs.

Sadly its Haider Ali. I hope something can be done to stop his career going further south. It is a real sat back for his side that he as a platinium pick performed so poorly that he was ultimately dropped.

Sharjeel easily. We were being told that he's an amazing player and would wreak havoc opening in the Powerplay. Was a terrible player, is a terrible player and will remain a terrible player. This guy is supposed to hit the likes of Starc, Archer, Lockie on the international stage? Lol

Haider Ali a close second. I don't know what people saw in him. Even Ian Bishop rated him highly from the U19 world cup. I saw him at the U19 world cup and he liked a hack there and has remained a hack still. No amount of coaching can correct him now. Better to invest in some other players now.

Agreed about sharjeel. A rubbish batsmen, convicted fixer too plus unfit and a pathetic fielder. I mean that everything is wrong with him but we are told he better than anyone in Pakistan lol and Babar was destroying him at Karachi. His fans have gone very quiet but will be back whenever he scored a 20 odd and will remind us how he’s the best option.

I would say Haider but sadly at this point I don't have much expectations left for him anyway. It's like criticising Babar for not being the top wicket taker.

Has to be Sharjeel. Had no expectations of Haider, he was in such bad form. I thought Sharjeel would be inconsistent with the odd good innings. Or actually being a success. I didn’t ever think he would be so bad that Karachi actually would drop him.

Nawaz has completely fallen off ever since his match-winning innings against India. It just so happens that another spin-bowling all-rounder has suddenly become Gary Sobers +.

also a damning indictment on KK that easily the two worst players of the tournament were both from that team.

i know its a bit of a broken record, but there is not way sharjeel is 33, he has the appearance and fitness of a 40 something.

Agree with Haider Ali.

It's not just the lack of runs, it's the shots he played to get out. Most of the time they have been horrible village cricket slogs.

He needs to assess his game. Is he not learning from working with the likes of Mohammad Yousuf?

I won’t say it’s Mickey or bust, but this season at Derbyshire is potentially the most important in his development as a professional cricketer. I hope he puts it all back together again.

the ugly hoick across the line against good length balls was the undoing of akmal jr, and now haider ali. should just leave the shot out altogether.

I worry about that stint.

The way he is batting, it could be a huge disappointment.

But as you say, with Mickey around it might be of benefit to him.

Haider Ali, I keep saying looks like an uneducated person with below average intelligence who has no game awareness and no metal capacity to learn to improve his game. Khushdill, almost same .

Mobashar Khan looks like has more talent, intelligence and fitness and will make a comeback, and has better future ahead.
