with the group stages done thought it was a fair enough time to make this list.
Shortlist:
Haider Ali: 109 runs at 18, 112
in a high-scoring tournament which has seen the emergence of some young hitting talent for Pakistan, the former Pakistan batsman, one fifty notwithstanding, floundered at every opportunity.
Khushdil Shah: 47 runs at 15, 118, 1 wicket at 85
another former Pak international who seems to have brought his international form into the PSL. severely lacking in confidence, his secondary skill of contributing with useful wickets seems to have alienated him too.
Mubasir Khan: 13 runs and 1 wicket in 6 games
Having registered some excellent all round performances at domestic level hopes were high for mubasir, but the step up just seemed too much. didnt stay at the crease long enough to show his stroke play, and his bowling seemed one dimensional on good batting tracks. good fielding was one bright spot.
Odean Smith: 50 runs, 6 wickets at 40, 10.5rpo
Everyone can have an off day, but the issue with Odean Smith was that his performance was roughly in line with what you would expect from his career stats, which begs the question who thought he would add value on good batting tracks, when there are numerous significantly better domestic bowlers.
Sharjeel Khan: 42 runs at 10.50
Clearly evident that stalked by father time, the lightning fast eye that Sharjeel once possessed has deserted him. Looking out of his depth at every opportunity in a PSL studded with exceptional batting performances. An international comeback which was being argued prior to the PSL appears an impossibility at this stage.
Mohammad Nawaz: 100 runs at 12, 9 wickets at 35
Perhaps this is a bit harsh, but with an aging Sarfraz the Quetta team revolved increasingly around Nawaz, who despite a few reliable bowling outings failed to contribute meaningfully with the bat, and was one of the core reasons of the teams lack of balance.
Overall winner:
Haider Ali - Unfortunately the lad will likely have to go back to the drawing board, and completely re-evaluate his game. A return to national ranks seems highly unlikely, and with little domestic cricket for the next 6 months a chance to quickly bounce back is unlikely too. For a batsman who looked at home at under 19 level in South Africa, and with 3 FC centuries in 11 games, the technical degradation of his game is alarming. however with time on his side all is not lost, some time away from the game and the possibility of a full domestic FC season might be exactly what he needs.
