Where are all those genuises who were saying that PTI has lost popularity. They seem to have gain more popularity in other cities.

That's why you should never take predictions and views of these Internet analysts serious.

no no PTI booked all the trains from Peshawar to Karachis and smuggled all the KPK people there for this Jalsa :P #KhawajaSaadLogic

Yes all this dramay bazi was done for popularity sake. Election rigging was just a ruse

P.S. I had voted for PTI (and likely) going to vote for them so don't start calling me Nawaz/Zardari supporter

I'm pretty sure no one here said PTI does not have "popular support". There's a chasm in between 'popularity in the public' and 'political popularity'.

Khair, I'm back in uni, so I haven't been able to keep up with recent developments a lot - apart from knowing about the Karachi jalsa.

I'm just waiting by to see how this all ends.

That's quite disheartening isn't it. It feels like once they become IK supporters, they suddenly gets bestowed with powers to shame and ridicule anyone who is not in agreement with their POV. They immediately get the right to be the moral and ethical police, the sole proponents of truth and justice and the rightful champions of true (clean) democracy. Must be a great place to be in. I wonder at times that my life on this forum would have been so blissful and easy if I would have also joined the ranks of the loyal cult following IK. I could have easily operated in the realms of pure black and white, not having to pay any attention to the grey areas in our political discourse and of course avoiding constant repetition. But alas, I decided to be the antagonist, a villain to my hero insafian brothers, at times wondering why am I even doing this. For what purpose do I wage this debate as I've known long before that I wont get anything from it but labels, colorful names and epithets. Still, the enthusiasm has not gone down and unfortunately IK and PTI keeps adding more fuel to the fire. When will I finally learn.

I generally agree with your entire post, but the bolded part is especially spot on!!

Sharjeel Memon's statement that Sindhis have always supported PPP gives me an impression that all is not well for them and PTI might be gaining some support there.

What? Because couple of leading editors and column writers don't like this agitation? How exactly popularity of a political party is different from the political popularity ?

Just look at the Larkana jalsa of PTI before a few days and that was in hurry on one day call but crowd was massive even just SMQ was there no IK or other PTI leaders.

I'm not talking about the media. I'm talking about the public sphere and the political sphere.

Public sphere - how the general public/masses take everything, their stance, their views, their support. PTI was always bound to have this, whatever the outcome of the dharnas.

Political sphere - all the relevant actors within our political system, from politicians to even members of the SC judiciary and army (because we have politicised them so much). But generally, I meant politicians - who are part of a distinct subculture within our general society. Popularity in the political sphere would imply support from members of other political parties, if not the parties themselves. In a system, you can never operate as a major player with an all vs one approach - some people would have to be picked up, used, discarded in line with political advantages, which is why relations can't be absolutely severed from everyone else. PTI has lost some popularity sphere. ANP, PPP, PMLN would now be extremely cautious of conducting themselves around PTI, allying with them for whatever reason, vice versa. In this respect, I feel SMQ has done his part to better the political support of PTI more than IK who's been rigid.

PTI cant do anything about MQM and PP in Sindh. They will always win from there and nothing will change. Even IK is scared of Altaf Hussain and never mentioned him in speeches. Karachi is ruled by Gun and will be ruled like this forever. Sad but true.

They have picked up Jamaat-e-Islami may be? At least they are financially the least corrupt and also have a democratic system within party.

But this is kind of a naive statement from you which theoretically might well be right but the fact is that this is the main reason that PTI enjoys public support, people only support PTI because Imran is trying to keep his party aloof from the status-quo.

JI aren't exactly everyone's favourite either, but you're right, PTI did choose them. But presently, their alignment with PAT/Qadri is reflecting very negatively in the political circles, in status quo and other parties alike. (Something that personally ticks me off as well - I see no reason why IK should shroud Qadri/PAT with his own, hard-earned legitimacy that took more than 18 years by aligning with a suspicious character like TUQ. And I take co-ordinating, arranging, sharing stage, holding hands etc as an alliance, even if there is no "official" announcement ).

Bro, you forget that I'm foremost a student. I revel in theory. I make no claims of my statement being the absolute truth in any manner. I say things as I see them.

PTI as an untested party, amongst a whole host of other reasons some of which you stated, will remain a publicly popular party for a while at least. No questions on that.

These words are self contradicting. There is a huge chasm between the hate with which people treat PAT/JI and N league/PPP.

Sorry, but found this funny and true.

You missed out on poondi

Yes you guys are right this lady on wheel chair was there to take selfie and poondi. And i can show you many other examples hats off to these people for coming out with the aim to get a better system in Pakstan instead of just sitting on computer and becoming keyboard warriors. As early as 3 June 1948, Professor Daniel Schuemann, an expert in international politics said in a lecture in New York;

"The state of Pakistan which recently came into being in South-East Asia, is a state manifest with enormous pitfalls unique to itself. Its experience is vulnerable as time will show. In less than half a century, the state will collapse because of the people who are born with chains of slavery, whose thoughts can't see love of a free country and whose minds can't function beyond the scope of personal selfish ends - I know their insides"

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s all three electricity bills have been paid despite his call for civil disobedience, Dunya News discovered and obtained the copies.

According to the details, the electricity bills of Imran Khan’s Zaman Park Lahore residence were paid on August 29.

Dunya News has obtained copies of paid bills of all three electricity meters installed at Imran Khan’s Zaman Park residence.

The three bills for the month of August were in the amount of thirty nine thousand six hundred and forty eight rupees.

Imran Khan’s name escaped the 60-day defaulters list by making the payment.

According to the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) officials, the electricity connection would have cut off if the bills for the month of August were not paid.

It merits mentioning here that PTI chief Imran Khan had appealed the public not to pay their taxes and utility bills as part of his call for ‘civil disobedience’.

Imran disowns dissident MNAs

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan is not in a forgiving mood. The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman wrote to the speaker of the National Assembly on Friday, seeking the de-seating of three dissident PTI lawmakers who have not submitted their resignations alongside other PTI parliamentarians.

In letters dated September 24, Mr Khan, as party chief and parliamentary leader of the PTI, quoted Article 63A of the Constitution and asked the speaker and the chief election commissioner (CEC) to consider the seats of MNAs Nasir Khattak (NA-15), Gulzar Khan (NA-4) and Ms Musarrat Zeb (reserved seat) vacated for violating party discipline.

The PTI chairman, in three separate letters, has informed the speaker and the CEC that the three MNAs had not complied with the party’s unanimous decision, taken on August 4, whereby all party lawmakers were to hand over their resignations to the party leadership. The PTI core committee also endorsed the decision.

However, Mr Khattak, Mr Gulzar and Ms Zeb “in disregard and disobedience of the unanimous decision of the party failed to tender their resignations and, therefore, were issued show-cause notices. Their replies to the notices were found unsatisfactory and untenable,” the letters said.

“In accordance with the PTI constitution, the PTI chairman terminated their basic membership.”

As the three have defected from the party, their seats are liable to be vacated in terms of Article 63A of the constitution, Mr Khan was quoted as saying in the concluding paragraph of the letters addressed to both the speaker and the CEC.

However, legal experts have differing opinions about the PTI chairman’s ability to invoke Article 63A.

Talking to Dawn, former law minister S.M. Zafar, who was also part of the constitutional committee that drafted the seminal 18th constitutional amendment, said, “At least 63A doesn’t cover the charge which the PTI chairman is using to seek their (the three MNAs) ousting from the house.”

The Article 63A lays down certain preconditions, which lead to disqualification on the grounds of defection. It says, “ If a member of a parliamentary party, composed of a single political party in a house, resigns from membership of his political party or joins another parliamentary party; or votes or abstains from voting in the house contrary to any direction issued by the parliamentary party to which he belongs, in relation to (i) election of the Prime Minister or the Chief Minister; or (ii) a vote of confidence or a vote of no-confidence; (iii) a money bill or a constitution (amendment) bill.”

As long as this constitutional provision is concerned, Mr Zafar insisted, neither the speaker nor the CEC could entertain the PTI leader’s application.

However, PTI’s resident legal expert and former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Hamid Khan, argued that according to the spirit of 63A, if someone was outside the party, he/she shouldn’t hold the seat they had won in the name of that particular party.

The issue isn’t whether the speaker or the CEC can accept the PTI’s contention. “It’s a message which the PTI intends to send out loud and clear, i.e. the party has taken a principled decision to quit the National Assembly and whosoever defies it has no future in the party.”

The PTI had 33 MNAs in the National Assembly, of whom 30 have submitted their resignations, which are currently with the speaker. Mr Ayaz Sadiq has asked the resigning PTI lawmakers to personally appear before him to confirm their notices. But the PTI argues they should be treated as one group and invited together.

It is worth noting that if Imran Khan’s resignation from the National Assembly had already been accepted, as the party insists, he would not be in a position as the parliamentary leader of PTI to even make this request.

Now that's a democratic leader Pakistan needs.
No arguments just follow what the leader says.

The nation has woken up. Won't take any BS from these jahils, thugs and corrupt.

Their demise is soon.

Some progressive decisions being taken by PTI as the new face of youth

http://www.dawn.com/news/1134680/kp-to-remove-objectionable-material-from-textbooks

A senior official of the education department told Dawn on Friday that JI leaders had voiced reservations about the printing of pictures of minor girls without dupatta, Christmas cake and a Cross emblem on an ambulance instead of Crescent, the mention of good morning instead of Assalamu Aliakum, and presence of some other ‘objectionable’ content in textbooks for primary schools.

“Officials of the department concerned and textbook board have formally agreed to remove objectionable contents from textbooks and will induct material to be proposed by Jamaat,” he said.

So what has become of this - 57 pages on? One would have thought Nawaz Sharif would have resigned by now if the call was loud enough.

MA..What a massive jalsa today... Some guys should just shut it and accept the truth

Did pervez rashid stop ? No.

Same goes for these guys.

Khawaja Asif the idiot ..We will take action against Imran n Qureshi as it is against the law to have 3 electricity meters ..

I wonder how many meters we have in Rai Wind? May be 10-12??

?

An online comment shouldn't get you hot under the collar. And what's a patwari?

Thank you for asking that question. That has always troubled me. I see lots of Imranistan using that term more often. I am confused. :13:

What is Patwari?

The village accountant (variously known as Patwari, Tallati, Patel, Karnam, Adhikari, Shanbogaru, etc.) is an administrative government position found in rural parts of the Indian sub-continent. The office and the officeholder are called the patwari in Andhra Pradesh, Bengal, North India and in Pakistan while in Sindh it is called Tapedar.

This is highly prestigious job. This job carries more weight than any politician job as it adds to contribute positive value to Pakistan economy.

It was just a sarcastic post mate..:asif and basically in Pakistan's politics if you are pro PML-N you can be referred to as a 'patwari'.

So, a guy who is unfamiliar with an epitome of corruption that is patwari is giving sermons about democracy, economics and political stability here for months?
Similarly endymion248, also did not know about the police hierarchy and service structure when he inquired about the police post which heads district.

Then why do you people complain of being attacked at by pti supporters when you people yourself don't know nothing about corruption/incompetence in our political, governance and administration system?

i thought imran was spot on today and hots the crux of the whole issue in his speech today. corrution. he alluded to figures surrounding the sharif family, and crucially to my mind raised some references o zardari too.

this is the crux of the whole situation because it framed the amount of money we are talking about, and the huge amounts that have been stolen from the country on the one hand, on the other, given how much money is at stake, his opponents will try everything possible to avoid a defeat because they know that they will be in the dock amd will have to pay for what is essentially high treason.

this is the reason why unless theres a very good reason for it, opponents of ik are perceived as being sympathetic to either of two parties that are treasonous in the very worst sense of the word, and sympathy in cases this serious is not far at all from complicity.

how come Imran Khan's Dharna has failed but the Jalsas are huge?

Dhernas are not failed there is still a big crowd there even after 46/47 days but sitting in dherna is different you need to sacrifice if you belong to a lower, lower middle or even middle class family. Mazdoor dehaari nae lagayega or banda job per nae jayega to kamayega kya ghar kese chalega? and it's hard for people from other cities to travel and come there every days thats majority of the dherna crowd now is from rawalpindi/islamabad.

Dont listen to the cowards and the conniving hidden in the closet beneficiaries and supporters of a corrupt system. We will be slaves to this corrupt, colluding mafia for centuries if you continue to listen to their lame utopian ideals "Fight within the system, be in the democratic process, fight cleanly e.t.c."

Absolutely damning video clips of Rana Mashud.

1. Confirms that Hamaza Shahbaz married Ayesha Ahad
2. Confirms that it is in their knowlede that a SP Police carried out extra judicial killings and we allowed it to happen
3. Confirms that Imran was a big threat and discusses how and what steps were taken to counter him

These clips of Rana Mashud are sinking PMLN

What is the endgame now? Is IK trying to get a ruling against Sharif in court which may force him to resign or has he threatened him with another deadline?

Looking in from the outside it appeared as if IK had Sharif on the ropes a few weeks ago (when the latter ran off to the Army for help) but now his position seems more stable.

Nawaz can't even give a speech in public.

So my cousin tried to make it to the jalsa in minar-e-pakistan but told me it was so packed out he couldn't get anywhere near there and more than 50% of the people went back without making it to the grounds. The support was earth-shattering and never seen before in Pakistan.

Nawaz is in a bigger hole now.

PMLN played the military card claiming that Imran was being supported by establishment which made neutral observers sit on the fence. However, as days turned into weeks and we are nearing 50 days! it has become clear to all that Imran Khan is on a mission to actually bring reforms and is not an establishment stooge.

Now more people have come out to support Imran Khan. Many don't support PTI but they support his call for reforms and resignation of Nawaz Sharif.

Everywhere you go its Go Nawaz Go

^^ Is bande ne kabhi Pakistan mein zameen nhi khareeda. "adds to contribute positive value to Pakistan economy". Just proves you have know knowledge about either economics or what patwaris actually do.

Cricketers Asad Ali, Ali Waqas, Samiulllah Niazi and Ehsan Adil show their support for Imran Khan. If the picture is recent one than Asad Ali, Ali Waqas and Ehsan Adil can say goodbye to playing for pakistan anytime soon. Samiulllah Niazi is already old so his chances are already gone
