Ashwin and Jadeja ended the Indian Season breaking some records ... It was the first time ever that 2 Allrounders from the same team took 50+ Wkts and Scored 400+ runs in a season.

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...ts;template=results;type=allround;view=season

Together they put up 1000+ runs and took 150+ Wkts ... main reason for India's success.

Incredible and a rare achievement especially when considering the fact that Ashwin wasnt fully fit for much of the season.

Not to discredit the achievement, but how many teams have played 13 test matches in a season before?

That's comfortably more than the vast majority of teams play in an entire year.

That makes it even more impressive. 13 tests in 6 months is an incredible workload which they have managed successfully taking lots of wickets, not all of which have been bowler friendly. They have consistently bailed us out with the bat scoring crucial runs which makes their achievement even more special. May they continue to grow their confidence esp as batsmen, will help us to play 5 specialist bowlers on tougher tours like SA, Aus and Eng.

highest is 15 by Aus . plenty of teams have played 12 Tests per season. Thats more than enough Tests to score 400+ runs and take 50+ Wkts.

In any case Both Ashwin and Jadeja had gotten there after 10 Test matches.

Link with stats for Ashwin and Jadeja for only first 10 Tests of the season: http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/en...an;template=results;type=allround;view=season

A season is a year starting from April, so many teams have played a similar amount of matches in a season.

India played those matches in an even shorter period of time, along with ODIs and T20s. That makes the achievement even more special, even though Ashwin and Jadeja were rested for some of the LOI matches.

Definitely the two biggest contributors to India's phenomenal home dominance. They are also fighting to neck to neck for the coveted #1 test rank in bowling as well. You know you're a dangerous team when you have two of the best bowlers in world cricket.

Ashwin > Jadeja.

Ashwin not only did 400+ and 50+ wickets in a season but also in a calendar year. Which Jadeja didn't.

Total wickets and total runs are proportionate to how many games a player played. So it is misleading on who was the best allrounder in the season.

With World's best alrounders topic in modern days without Shakib in it, is bizarre.

So...2016/17 season
7 matches 656 runs 46.85 Avg 2 centuries 29 wickets 5/85 BBI 31.68 Avg 15.16 Avg Diff

Had he played 13 games the projection would have been:
13 Mat 1218 runs 53 wickets. :)

Game, set, Ma... Naah, he hasn't finished writing history yet.

Great stats.

Great stats.
Thanks Roshan. That is why he is the #1 Alrounder in the rankings even now. This is his 6 or 7th year now being on the top or #2.

5 of those 7 tests were away test where usually your stats go down. I like Ashwin's determination. Recently his bowling has gone down but batting is getting better and better.

I don't think Indian's will discredit Shakib at all. He's been the premier Allrounder in all 3 formats for atleast 5 years now.. That is no mean feat !

This is about Jaddu and Ash's impact on India's home domination. What I love about this is that you cant discredit this as turners alone since both of them did score a truckload of runs along with wickets over a variety of pitches !
