Repatriation of Afghan refugees key to terror eradication: Gen Qamar Bajwa

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Saturday stressed that repatriation of 2.7 million Afghan refugees can greatly improve the security situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Addressing the Munich Security conference, the army chief said the world was harvesting what had been sown 40 years ago. He called for repatriation of Afghan refugees from Pakistan and better management of the Afghan border as a way forward to curb militancy.

The COAS said that Pakistan has denied the Islamic State militant group any foothold in the country.
He was delivering his speech on “Jihadism After Caliphate” along with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi. He said that only state had the authority to declare jihad.

“I can proudly say that Pakistan does not have any terrorist hideouts,” he said, adding that the country had defeated al Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic State among other outlawed militant groups.

“Pakistan’s peace is correlated with peace in Afghanistan,” he remarked.

Pakistani forces have killed over 1,100 al Qaeda militants handed over 600 to the United, Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa said.

He said the terrorists had sanctuaries in Afghanistan and they were planning attacks against Pakistan from there.

Perhaps my last post was wrong. There is not a single post about Pakistan that's positive from you. Even people like Mamoon will sometimes utter soemthing in praise. Which leads to you being correctly suspected of being a troll. You won't be the first nor the last.

Hand on heart not a troll bro. I agree with pakistan repatriating all/some Afghanis. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy of some people who also share that viewpoint but then scream racism when people in areas of Germany/Sweden say the same. Parts of these countries have been destroyed due to refugees...people are holding weekly protests in areas which are associated with rapes/ violent knife attacks by refugees etc and they are being called racist

I agree that a lot of us are hypocrites. But the situations don't compare. Europe is first world and a lot of those nations are backed by EU funds. Yaar we are third world ourselves, we can barely support our people let alone millions of refugees. And a lot of whom dont like us (whether right or wrong is another topic) . Personally if the Europeans don't want refugees that's their choice. Even then hilarious how Muslims will go about bashing the West yet it's the Western countries they will run off to first.

I get why one would make that argument and its important to avoid anti-Afghan generalizations. The two situations are not comparable though.

European jihadi terror is mainly homegrown - often these young men already known to intelligence agencies. They are descendants of migrants but are often born in that country.

In Pakistan there has been a porous western border which has seen infiltration by militants from Afghanistan. Amongst the inflow of refugees, there have been militants mingling within the population and have committed attacks.

Personally, if you are born in a country you should have a right to a process whereby you attain citizenship. Some of these Afghan refugees have only known Pakistan all their lives.

We should act with heart and head.

Great post. Perhaps it wasn't the fairest comparison by himself...it was more of a general statement because I find it absurd when the same people who are screaming for Afghanis to leave find it fascist and scream racism when anti migrant views are made in Europe. But like I said...not the fairest comparison to pak/Afghanis I accept that. The last part of your post is bang on.

Yeah right. ISIS and TTP are still a major threat to Pakistan as long as they have presence in Kunar Province. Well it’s upto Pakistan whether to give Afghan refugees citizenship or not but at least don’t treat them like this.

They are racist, and quite open about it. Most of those groups who are organising protests in Germany and Sweden have links with neo Nazi organisations. I saw a programme about this last week which probed in some detail, but I'm guessing you already know it.

We have done enough for these ungrateful Afghans so it is time for them to go home. No doubt, peace has returned since thousands of them were forced to leave. They can hate Pakistan from their refugee camps or India and the west can take them in. With the fence being erected it should bring further stability to our tribal region. Pak Pathans are fed up with them as well. I hate the people who spit on the hands that feed them no matter who they are.

Your trolling aside.

Things generally are really bad here that's why Afd won so many seats from almost none the last time. The general public is really wary of these "refugees" as they are the ones disrupting everything and then people who are here on merit and genuinely mean well are put in the same basket. I have dozens of first hand experiences of them fighting, disrupting the order in institutions, trains, restaurants (which they own and then a rival comes and all hell breaks loose, women and all) etc. The Germans racist or not have a system, a very good one in fact and these people who have been allowed in the country instead of doing something with their lives just do what most of they do in their countries and then expect everyone else to bend over backwards for them.

I am not saying that they are all in the same vein, as I personally know a couple of families, and have even helped a few families by personally driving them to the immigration center as they seemed lost but many of them especially the single male need to be gotten rid of immediately, otherwise we will see another rise of the right not because people are that intolerant but just because they can't stand it anymore. Actually the rise of the right has already begun as we have monthly PEGIDA marches (which a lot march and oppose also) and all sorts of grafitti all over the city which were non existent 3-4 years ago.

But you probably don't care about that being a native British.
