LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to summon two more cricketers in connection with its ongoing spot-fixing investigations.
A source told SAMAA that PCB has decided to summon Zulfiqar Babar and his Quetta Gladiators team-mate Umar Amin.
This comes after Pakistan Cricket Board today issued a Notice of Charge to pacer Mohammad Irfan under its Anti-Corruption Code as part of ongoing investigation into potential corrupt practices.
According to a statement issued by the PCB, Irfan has been charged with two violations of Code Article 2.4.4 and now has 14 days to respond to the Notice of Charge.
He has also been provisionally suspended with immediate effect from participating in all forms of cricket.
PCB’s investigation will continue with regard to any questionable activity by any player and player support personnel as it carries on with its mission of eliminating the menace of corruption from cricket.”
Similarly, Shahzeb Hassan will also appear before the anti-corruption unit to record his statement.
The two players have been accused of failing to approach by a bookie before the start of the second edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Although the pacer was questioned during the league, he was allowed to play for his Islamabad United franchise.
Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif have already been suspended and a tribunal has been set up to determine their fate.
