SOME PTI leaders have accused Sindh’s PPP government of corruption in the reverse osmosis (RO) project. After Rs33 billion have been spent, the peolple of Thar do not have a safe drop of water to drink.

The report of the Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro of Feb 27, 2017, (available at http://scp.gov.pk/Details.aspx?N375) names the officials who were given the RO plant work.

The inquiry report says: “Therefore, there appears no justification to continue with these RO plants and spend millions and millions of rupees blindly on their so-called O&M, when we neither know the quality of the water being supplied from these plants nor the quantity against which we are making payments.

“All RO plants have been awarded to Pak Oasis without completing due formalities. The report of director general, Audit Sindh (Annexure K-1) submitted during the inquiry has pointed out to this fact, besides revealing many discrepancies in the tendering process causing huge loss to the government in the whole scheme of RO plants.

“The way these RO plants are shown to be working and producing drinkable water as per WHO standards is nothing but a farce. Pak Oasis seems to be earning millions of rupees through these RO. Plants, which do not produce good quality water for drinking. So far billions of rupees, as is shown in this document above, have been wasted in the name of these RO plants without any justification for these plants in some cases to even exist. Neither the quality of water through labs nor its quantity through any metering system is being analysed at any of the RO plants, yet the payments are being made by the Sindh government.”

The PTI leaders should lodge a case with the Supreme Court and recover the money.

I agree but will a corrupt judiciary take notice? A SC that includes Isa and Beqir is akin to puttting NS , AZ and MR on the bench. Btw where is the new broom that you promised with Billo in charge.

The PPP has no credibility and no matter how many times Billo is relaunched each week, he is the progeny of crooks and despite the hopes of some, he is just as thuggish and crooked as daddy, auntie and the rest of the party. How anyone can support such crooks in 2020 is beyond any sane explanation.

Lol, because they are just as deeply badniyat as the party and the leaders themselves and are filling their coffers with their blessings. Some of the Lifafa journalists are so awfully badniyat and prioritizing their bank accounts ahead of the country that they were defending the PPP and its performance in Karachi under the pretext that PTI has MNA's, MPA's, MQM has MNA's, MPA's and a mayor in Karachi and that this was a conspiracy against the PPP.

Water treatment plants based on RO are very expensive to install and operate, and can be viable only if the water generated is sold at a fairly high price (Like in some Gulf countries). I don't know how much people pay for water in Pakistan, but if it is anything like in India they should not consider RO technology at all.

On topic, everybody knows Zardari and sisters are CORRUPT and they have thousands of pawns in every department in Sindh and even in institutions. Park lane reference was open and shut case and took over a year to indict him. He just got indicted a couple of days ago. This Thatta Water Supply case would probably never reach fruition. Then there is another Roshan Sindh case regarding solar powered street lights and it is an open and shut case against CM Murad Ali Shah. Again that case is going no where.

We all want a Pakistan where anyone who has looted public's money he is held to account. Whether they are a journalist, general, judge or politician. Sadly that Pakistan is still a dream. Delhi door ast.

The present government also seems to be going back on their promise of strict accountability. In their first year or so that is all they talked about and development had taken the back burner. The consequence of this was there was a SHARP decline in their popularity. To compensate now all they talk about and are doing is new big ticket infrastructure projects and small development projects in gaons qasbas and inner cities. Like I can give example of Karachi where middle class older parts of the city have seen new sewerage and water lines put in and roads re-carpeted. This is through MNA funds so scale is not city wide but definitely enough for people to notice. Accountability seems to taking a step back.

PPP is corrupt no doubt, but it was hoped bilalwal would take proper charge.

Yeh he makes nice speeches in NA; but at the end of the day, when he needs to have rallies his party requests Malik Riaz, and what Malik Riaz does is force all of his bahria town employees working in that city to attend those rallies. Doesnt matter if you are a supporter of PPP or not. I am pretty sure attendance is done and if you dont attend there could be pay or job problem.

I know this because i have family members that work in Bahria Town Pindi and they have been forced to attend some rallies.

They are all the same at the end of the day. Next time might aswell place my vote stamp on the part that says you dont want to vote for anybody.

Malik Riaz gives employment to Army men, he has them on posts that give out 20lakh salary. He
socializes with the right kind of people.

The guy was able to get the Bahria name from the Navy and they couldn't do anything about it.
