Shaheen Shah Afridi advised period of rest after injury in the ICC T20 World Cup final

It looks more of a cover up from PCB. In order to avoid criticism, they won’t release the severity of the injury now and would it once everything settles down saying that the injury was more serious than expected etc .

no, he was at a marriage without a leg brace, so hes fine by the looks of it

Needs a proper rehab under "qualified" experts (definitely not PCB). A gradual return to recovery with workload being built up steadily would do. If there was a ligament tear, he would have in no way been able to run in and bowl despite painkillers.

I can understand speculation on severity of the injury but fit to play and require rehab and surgery seem like 2 extreme opposites to me based on what I am hearing.

Did they really advise he only needs 2 weeks rest, pretty staggering claim. They didn't want to pay for his treatment either and were not proactive enough to stay on top of it.

It's staggering how much Pakistan achieves with no structure or professionalism, they'd get far with some order

This is incompetence and arrogance combined. Which is why I have no faith in PCB and its rehabs.

Give the guy a proper period of rest and don't rush him back because you are desperate to play him.

He's a diamond, don't ruin his career.

Given shaheen’s current fitness circumstances, he should skip complete England Test series. He might be available for crucial New zealand series if required.

He underwent a surgical procedure to remove the appendicitis today and doctors have now advised him at least six weeks rest before he can return to cricket activities," a source in the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said.

"This basically means he is definitely ruled out of the three Tests against England being held in December while he will also not be able to appear in the two Tests against New Zealand that follow," the source said.

According to the source, the PCB and the team management is unlikely to risk playing Afridi in international cricket until next April.
"Even his participation in the Pakistan Super League will depend on his recovery progress but it will also be the decision of his franchise when and how they play him in the league," the source said.

Wow, April :( that’s a blow for Pakistan and for cricket.

It is a blow but it will provide an opportunity for someone else to step in.Pakistan has a few other quicks available although they are not as good as Shaheen.

That’s true. Could be the moment for a new star to step up and be counted.

Hope he recovers well.

In the end, if his knee ligament was just a strain and not a full tear which needed surgery, then the enforced break may not be the worst thing for that recovery either.

He just needs to build up workload sensibly afterward.

To hell with PSL man. April is nothing considering how serious that injury could be. Hope he isn’t rushed this time. PCB need to do all they can to give him the best health care possible. They owe him that.

I hope lohare don't play Shaheen in Psl if they do try and play him then PCB should compensate Lohare.

I'd be surprised if he will ever be the same again , knee issues never really go away we saw with junaid khan and his pace dropped significantly.

If afridi wants to prolong his career and his knees and back I think he needs to give up test cricket .
