Lets be honest guys, Malik has exceeded everyones expectations. Even Sana Mirza looked surprised at the 18 ball 54.

Whoever doubted Malik should not be blamed as Malik has never really been a reliable performer.

Let’s see how he does against genuine pacers today

He doesn't have any issues with pace. If I recall correctly, he started off life as an opener in ODIs. If he's got a fault it's that he's not got a great range of strokes.

He's hopeless against pace. Always has been. It is time for him and Hafeez to retire gracefully. T20 WC next year is in Australia and he will struggle there big time.

Next WC in Australia are we taking him to Australia also? Why is he in Bangladesh squad ?

NZ Should have never bowled santner to him then hitting against minnows

Malik should definitely be dropped for the world Cup and should not be in the squad against Bangladesh.

Bar all the controversies this guy is involved in, he is our best technical batsmen in the team. People are complaining about Fawad this and that he wernt in but the fact is Malik has won matches for us an has experience against good sides. Fawad Alam after 17 matches has a top score of 63 against one side. Regardless of teh situation Malik should be in!

13 years later, Malik and even Fawad are still in the consideration set for some fans.

"Unreal performances from an unreal cricketer" :yk2

Only fair that if certain players are getting serenaded by posters with an agenda, then Malik should be accorded the same. But no, not even a pip squeak, despite his fantastic performances in PSL 8 so far.

Malik is doing his thing but he needs to get his team over the line

Both Rizwan and Malik are performing. But Malik doesn’t have the luxury of the overseas players doing the heavy lifting in Karachi unlike Rizwan does with Multan

It was short but sweet, Shobby delivers and gets his a team a win with a 143 SR. Shobby's mere presence made the LQ crumble. :ua

Today the overseas pros came through for them. Shobby’s little partnership with Vince was good

Not a great start for him in this PSL as he concedes 19 runs in his first over including 3 sixes.

Just realized this thread has the most posts in PP's cricket section. Over 13,000 posts. Wow! :inti

Anyway, Shoaib Malik is still playing in leagues. He played just 3 months ago (Canada Super 60 League).

He has had a good white ball career. Started off as a bowler but became a batter later on. Retired with over 7000 ODI runs.

This is such a nostalgia thread. Takes me back to old days of PP. :inti

Malik made his debut when I was a youngster.

Since then I completed school, undergrad and postgrsd, started a job, got married , had kids, kids in school and Malik is still playing cricket looking just like he did on debut.

I think he is an alien of some sort.

Indeed.

This thread is like a timeline. Different generations of posters.

I saw Shoaib Malik from his debut till this day. I remember his debut in 1999. He was very young at that time and so was I (I was 9). :inti

I remember the debate around him making the 2019 World Cup squad. Heated and divisive debate. Weird to think that was 7 years ago. In the end it turned out to be a bad decision to include him

The Vladimir Putin of cricket.

A very good player to have in Asia + WI + Africa.
But like passing time, Malik is not even a shadow of his past self now. A bit like Gayle continued to play till everyone stopped picking him.
