Similarities between 1992 and 2019 | Are we winning again?

There’s even an article about it on a very famous website.

If we chase this down by 7 wickets, it will be another similarity.

just checked wc 92. PAK won by 7 wickets against? HOw is this similarities possible to the dot :O

In 1992 Match 7 we won in 49.1 overs

In 2019 Match 7 we won in 49.1 overs.

We're winning for sure.

I mean look at the details. Same batting 1st and bowling. Same losing by wickets and runs. And a rain out game at exactly the same match.

Haris runout has ruined it

Nope. The way Guptil ran out Haris, it had shades of Jhonty running out Inzi in 92. Hopefully Haris will play match winning knocks in semi final and final.

Its on! :)

From Now On CT17 Begins.... Two Group Match wins Followed by Two CounterStrike Wins :)

Pakistan vs India in ICC Worldcup 2019 ( CT17 v2 and this time Worldcup + Streak of Worldcup on the Line)

Ya Allah.. help us to get revenge from India in semi final 2011 and Australia in the final 1999.

Guys, I´m seriously loving these! Gems!

* Pakistan actress Anjuman got married in 1992, she did it again a few days ago in 2019.

* Pakistan become the first team to beat New Zealand in the World Cup 1992, and in 2019.

* Pakistan, back then too, beat New Zealand on a Wednesday - as was the case yesterday.

The Anjuman one and the one about Zardari being in jail even now takes the cake! :)) :)) :))) :)))

Here´re a few similarities which I spotted on my own:

* In World Cup 1992, Jonty Rhodes ran out Inzamam exactly the same way as Guptill ran out Haris Sohail yesterday. I know Abdullah719 has posted this above already, but this is just not fair! I said this to my sister even before the decision was referred to the third umpire, and even messaged @UP right away. So I take this!

* In the 1992 and in the 2019 World Cup, the Man of the Match award from the India-Pakistan match went to a Brahmin, Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma respectively.

* In 1992, it was England´s Botham´s all-round display which was making all the headlines, in 2019 it is Ben Stokes.

* 1992 was the last time that England were strong contenders to win the World Cup, and they´re again so in 2019 after so many years. In between these editions, no one even took a look at England.

* In 1992, New Zealand had a player named Martin (Crowe), and in 2019 they´ve Martin Guptill. It´s all in the Martins, fellows!

* In 1992, Australia´s captain´s first name began with an A (Allan Border), in 2019 they´ve Aaron Finch as captain, and again the first name starts with an A.

I´m loving what we all are smoking! :ashwin

Okay, this is stretching is a bit. You need to take a chill pill. This is like saying in the 1992 world cup we had a player named Amir and we have one now as well. Also, Malik. .. I mean there could be so many more but these could also be for other world cups.

I know sir, I know. Just couldn´t help getting a bit trollish alongside the serious ones! These are in fact the side-effects of the chill pill! :yk

Aladdin released in 1992..

Aladdin released in 2019..

Ghar aa ra hain.

LOL

1983 WC - Kapil Dev All Rounder Kaptaan
1992 WC - Imran Khan All Rounder
2011 WC - MSD Wicket Keeper Kaptaan
2019 WC - Sarfraz Wicket Keeper

It’s way too similar, it’s happening.

Another Eng vs Pak Final ? Possible.

Another Eng vs Pak Final ? Possible.

It isn't actually. India and NZ would have to lose both of their matches so England would get to 12, then Pakistan has to win both of their matches to draw even at 11 and qualify on NRR, which I don't see happening given India's positive NRR.

SF:
Pak vs India (Pak win, Streak broken, Redemption no 1)
Aus vs Newz

Final:
Aus vs Pak 99MainBhiYehiHuaTha

Pak World champions (redemption no 2)

Or Banglas turn us over in match 9 and it all goes PeteTong. #YehScriptMainNahinTha

Pakistan could make semis but highly doubt they will win it.
Unless the pitch is a dry turner they will be the weakest of the 4 teams in all 3 departments of cricket.

This is so epic and fun. How do you ever explain this to a non-pakistani non-cricket person.

The Malik of 1992 was pathetic with the bat, the Malik of 2019 follows the same path.

The meme is getting out of hand, even Sky have shown it. The most important question is, did IK yawn in the 1992 WC? :)))

1992 -

Match 1 - Loss Vs West Indies
Match 2 - Win Vs Zimbabwe
Match 3 - Wash out Vs England
Match 4 - Loss Vs India
Match 5 - Loss Vs South Africa
Match 6 - Win Vs Australia
Match 7 - Win Vs Sri Lanka
Match 8 - Win Vs New Zealand

2019 -

Match 1 - Loss Vs West Indies
Match 2 - Win Vs England
Match 3 - Wash Out Vs Sri Lanka
Match 4 - Loss Vs Australia
Match 5 - Loss Vs India
Match 6 - Win Vs South Africa
Match 7 - Win Vs New Zealand
Match 8 - Win Vs Afghanistan
Match 9 - Win Vs Bangladesh

There was no group stage Match 9 in 1992.

Is that where the similarities end?

I found this gem somewhere:

"92 mey´n mei´n appni biwi se jootey khaata tha, 2019 mey´n mera beyta biwi se jootey khaata hai."

:)):)):))):)))

Tendulkar is not a bramhan, he is maratha

Why does it even matter as long as we´re winning this?! It´s all kosher anyway in this thread. :yk

So I´ve confirmed this from a highly reputable source that Tendulkar is indeed a Brahmin surname, and actually, even my Google search suggested the same.

Over to my friend RWAC...... :msd

One more.
In 1992 heavy flood came In to er jehlum.
Now.
In 2019 heavy flood in jehlum.

This is getting serious! :inzi2

Who the cup or alaadin? :))

You legend! :)))

This is so epic and fun. How do you ever explain this to a non-pakistani non-cricket person.

That is the thing. One has to smoke this to be able to understand the fun that it brings. Outsiders just won´t get it! :yk

The Malik of 1992 was pathetic with the bat, the Malik of 2019 follows the same path.

This is an excellent spot!

The meme is getting out of hand, even Sky have shown it. The most important question is, did IK yawn in the 1992 WC? :)))

I suppose Sarfaraz got bored with all these similarities, so he yawned - something which Imran Khan didn´t. Now, the next world cup winning captain will yawn to bring in a similarity with Sarfaraz. It´s all scripted you know, with minor changes to the flow.

There was no group stage Match 9 in 1992.

Is that where the similarities end?

I´ve been mentioning this at home since yesterday, and this scares me a little. A ninth group stage match is just not part of the pre-laid plans. So we´ve to be careful here.

I think if Bangladesh wins versus India then they have a good chance of knocking us out.

I had a dream as well, Babar scored 153 yet we still lost... Similarities ended.

Who knows, that yawn might be massive. Butterfly effect and all that. :yk

In 1992, the host team and the red-hot pre tournament favorites Australia crashed out in the group stages. Pakistan went on to beat arch rivals England in the final.

In 2019, the host team and the red-hot pre tournament favorites England will crash out in the group stages. Pakistan will go on and beat arch rivals Australia in the final.

Similarities have ended with the NZ match. I won't be surprised if we are knocked out now.

This, this is what we´re slyly heading towards. The completion of similarities is just a few matches away, folks!

No negativity please! Don´t spoil our fun! :yk

Guys, I read somewhere that in 1992 too, an Indian opener got injured and was ruled out of the rest of the tournament. Is it true?

The similarity here obviously would be with Dhawan having got injured and subsequently being ruled out of the tournament after two-three matches.

In 1992 Pakistan had a Totla in team (Javed miandad).

In 2019 :sarf

In 1992 the PM of Pakistan was a former first class cricketer and so too in 2019.

8th match, 1992:
Pakistan won the match
Left-armer Wasim Akram took 4-fer
Opposition's highest scorer made 42
Left-hander Amir Sohail dismissed for a duck

8th match, 2019:
Pakistan won the match
Left-armer Shaheen Shah Afridi took 4-fer
Opposition's highest scorer made 42
Left-hander Fakhar Zaman dismissed for a duck

:ashwin

Amir Sohail got a first ball duck, Fakhar Zaman second... That was close.

This is getting spooky...

Also this is only the second time for Pakistan to chase a target after being 0-1.

The first time was in 1992 against New Zealand.

92 main to aysa nae hau tha jesa England India ke match main ho raha he :13:

BBC on the act now!

"Fight like cornered tigers, because nothing is more dangerous than a cornered tiger."

Imran Khan, now the prime minister of Pakistan but then the captain of their cricket team, used that image to inspire his players to go on and win the 1992 World Cup in Australia, one of sport's greatest underdog success stories.

Now, 27 years later, the same mantra is being applied to another improbable Pakistan charge towards World Cup glory.

Halfway through the group stage of the current competition, Pakistan were ninth and had suffered a heavy defeat by their neighbours India.

Four matches later, they have the momentum, are occupying a semi-final spot in the table at the expense of hosts England and, once again, are on the cusp of something quite remarkable.

Saturday's last-over victory against Afghanistan - a thriller that had no right to be as close as it was - was pure theatre; true backs-against-the-wall cricket, a win that will give Pakistan even more belief than they already had.

Are we set for 1992: the 2019 remix?
