Problem is though that Asad has always been brillant in List A, has been selected after great domestic performances yet always fluffed it when it comes to the big stage.

This is why you should rather see the game live then judging someone based on stats. Asad Shafiq is a perfect example of how stats can be misleading. He kept on tuk tukking good players and the moment part timers came to bowl he cherished good runs against them. Surely he won't be served such pathetic part timers in the international stage so no surprise for his mediocre ODI average.

I won't mind azhar been picked as an opener he will atleast plug one end even if he doesn't score, usually the prob with pak is that they can neither score runs at the top nor prevent fall of wickets, ends up being 30/2 (10). Atleast having him will minimize the damage at the top, 30/1 (10) is still better i guess. Also, he is a handy spinner and has an iota of brain cells, which is missing from most of the batsmen of pak.
