What's new

South Africa 135/5 at Stumps on Day 2 after bowling out Pakistan for 185 and have a lead of 212 runs

People bashing Faheem.....but it was Faheem who got 3 wickets in the first innings.

And it was Azhar and Asad who paved the way in this innings with a combined score of 0 and some terrible shots to get out.

He is very good T20 bowler and batsmen
Very good Odi bowler , okay odi batsmen
Okay test bowler , useless test batsmen

Performing decently in one innings shouldn't give a player a free 'get out of jail' card and neither should other players underperforming. Faheem was picked for his all round abilities and should rightly be criticized if he doesn't bring what he promises to the table when it matters.

Oliver - poor mans Liam plunkett, likes of kohli root buttler bairstow would pull/hook him out of the attack.

Yet azhar & co have made him highest wckt taker in this series.

Olivier probably wouldn't enjoy this much bowling ever in his career. It's a life time opportunity. Olivier is cashing it

He got 3 lucky wickets.. Batsmen literally threw their wickets away on nothing deliveries.
Nothing special about his bowling..

These batters absolutely lack brain cells...there was no need for Babar to play that shot; you've just lost your last main batter, so hold your horses for a bit.

And then Faheem...can it get any worse!

It just did.

Even your 2 bit average club cricketer has more sense than these lot.

The drama of Faheem being a good bowler will end soon. He is a minnow basher in ODIs and gets a lot of lucky, cheap wickets in Tests and T20s.

Only a matter of time before he is exposed as the mediocre bowler that he actually is.

These guys have no in-game awareness whatsoever.

I don't know why that is, maybe a lack of education, poor coaching, but it's one reason why we won't be climbing up the rankings any time soon.

I still think Faheem is decent with bat, it’s mental side that needs work.

Problem is Pakistan has stopped playing seaming allrounders at home for 10 years. You are not going to develop seaming allrounders in the middle of tough tours. This is another side effect of uae. You can sail by 6-4 but expose badly abroad, where you need 5 bowlers and 7 batters.

Pakistan must invest in allrounders at home too, you are never going to find Strokes off the street ready to go in SA/AUS, our 70 test veterans are struggling here...

Have you played international cricket?

They were all flukey wickets. 2 poor shots against ordinary deliveries and the other was a caught behind leg side which was a poor ball on another day could have easily gone for a boundary. He didn’t deserve a wicket let alone 3.

Lol Olivier might end up with the most wickets in a series. Completely exposed our boys' lack of backfoot strength.

Playing with one less batsmen
Then your most experienced players getting ducks
Result is obvious

SA can pick up any 6ft plus bowler from their domestic set up for home matches against pak and they are guaranteed to go through our line up

Pathetic display of batting asusual. Expect the idiot captain to blame the bowlers for not dismissing them under 150.

The makers of Ajaz Patel & William Somerville have now produced a new blockbuster in the form of Duane Olivier

Reality - Our batting struggles
Team Management in 2nd Test - Let's play the same batting order and drop Hasan Ali.
Reality - Our batting struggles again
Team Management in 3rd Test - Let's drop a batsman and play an extra bowler!

When Sarfraz is at the crease with “all rounders” like Faheem and Shadab to follow, you simply cannot play out a session in these conditions. This outcome was inevitable.

Now Sarfraz will complain the bowlers don't bowl with pace. As if the bowlers will have any sort of motivation to put in the effort for this lot

I was hoping that the two fake all-rounders would contribute 50 collectively, but they got the 5 but forgot the 0.

Although I am eager to be reminded that Shadab would have scored a half-century if he wasn’t batting with the tail.

So much for extending the tail with all rounders.

Last 5 wickets for 16 runs.

I hate it so much when people say "HAVE U PLAYED INTERNATIONAL CRICKET?".
They are being paid to play, that is their job.
Imagine saying to a doctor that you failed to do a surgery properly and then the doctor says "Have u ever conducted a surgery?"
Like come on

SA will score at least 250-300 and bat us out of the game. Olifier and co will have a meal in the 4th innings.

Pseudo all rounders contributed a grand total of 5 runs.

So much for their valuable late order contributions.

3 scores below 200 and just one score of 292. Grant Flower needs to be fired if he does not resign himself

Lol. Yasir was not much worse with the bat as Faheem and Shadab.

Yes, as soon as Grant leaves, the boys will start hitting match winning hundreds.

Awkward moment when Sarfaraz wipes the floor with Asad and Azhar in the series

Even a neutral wud be really dissapointed at paks performance after lunch. Not good advertisement for test cricket

That is how it works. Things won’t work but you still need accountability. Otherwise, you can give lifetime contracts to Flower, Mickey and Inzamam because no matter who is the selector or the coach, we will struggle.

Yeh allrounders nahi hai yaar
Shakib, hafeez,Lala,kallis,yuvi,jadeja,Razzaq
That is definition of allrounder not Arafat, Tanvir

I don't mind replacing the entire team.

The implication was only Grant needs to be fired.

This is what happens when you leave out your best batsman because of non cricketing issues, i.e traffic violations.

Umar Akmal is the perfect middle order batsman, he just needs some guidance which was lacking from Waqar Younis.

Ahmed Shahzad should also be brought back into the test side, keep him away from ODI’s though. The guy averages 40+.

In Pakistan, it’s very rare to have an opener averaging 40+.

You have to start with the personnel who have been at the helm the longest. After 5 years of mediocrity, where does Flower go from here?

Even 250 won’t be chased so
Pakistan only chance is to get them out on 100

You need to separate the ideal from reality.

Yes this team would be well balanced with an Abdul Razzaq (forget producing a Shakib or Stokes in our garbage domestic cricket) but you cannot select all-rounders for the sake of having them if they aren't capable of matchwinning contributions in either department !

Also, this batting lineup is so shambolic that weakening it any further by dropping a specialist batsman is not a good idea.

And weaken the bowling further? If 5 batsmen can't do the job, the 6th batsman won't do it either. Atleast the extra bowling option gives the pacers the ability to bowl at 100% in all their spells through out the day

Yaar he only batted 5 time in tests! We need him to AVG 30 with the bat and 35 with the ball and 35 and 35 for shadab. They can do this. You can't judge on first inning of the tour, when our 70 test batters are lining up ducks even after 6 innings on tour!!!

Your assumption is that before Flower the team was merrily coasting along with plethora of batsmen.

If you need accountability, fire the coach, the captain and entire personnel and start afresh.

Not cherry pick someone who is the easy scapegoat.

If you tell a doctor 'the surgery was easy and your expertise is cheap', then that's a valid retort.

Criticise all you want, but you shouldn't rubbish someone's success as 'cheap' or 'easy' in sport.

Ahmad Shehzad is a bakwas player and although i was a fan of Umar, he lost his way and turned into a mini slogger.

Rather we should pick domestic and A team performers like Usman, Saad and Abid.

Talk about bald men fighting over a comb.

Sarfraz has scored fifties in 2nd and 3rd Test and then threw his wicket away when the team desperately needed him to continue. That's not leadership, that's called CYA so that I can save whatever's left of my woeful Test captaincy stint.
