What's new

South Africa defeat Pakistan by 6 wkts to win the 1st Test & take a 1-0 lead in the 3-match series

Like I said in the pre series threads that Pakistan winning in SA rests on us getting these green tracks. This is because it elevates our average bowling attack and exposes SA batting a little bit more making Pakistan and SA relatively equal. Thus it has proved in this Test match where Pakistan had more than enough chances to kill SA.

If the pitches are batting friendly, Pakistan batters are not good enough to capitalise while our bowling becomes even poorer.

For Pakistan's sake, i hope SA puts these green pitches in the remaining 2 matches as well. That's Pakistans best chance

That team faced a peak Steyn, de Villiers and Amla. The 2013 South African team would whitewash this South African side, so I am not sure how much heart we can take from this performance.

This team would have hardly done better against that side.
Doesn't matter. That team had two considerably experienced batsmen in Younis and Misbah too, aswell as the best spinner in the world in Saeed Ajmal. Yet we were never even competitive in all three tests by the end of first innings of both sides. So, this was a bit refreshing to see.

Say what?

What a garbage post this is - stop acting like we're about to win this test. These wickets are as meaningless as they come because SA had already sealed victory, so the pressure was off the bowlers.

Will this pitch be rated poor?

I think Pakistani fans are getting carried away in thinking that drop catch and umpire blunder cost Pakistan. This is an excuse to put blame elsewhere. The fault truly lies in the batting where Asad Azhar and Sarfraz lost the great initiative that Imam and Shan built.

Pakistan themselves to blame after getting 100 for 1 ..bundled out for 190 and give match to southafrica..

I guess Shan Masood with one wicket and 60 odd runs has already done more than Sarfaraz will do in this series and even some part of NZ series combined. Other youngsters have also outperformed so called seniors.

Seniors (Azhar and Asad) and captain in 2nd innings:

Faced 25 balls and scored 6 runs. If your seniors and captain do this in the most criuicial part of the test what do you expect.

Don't forget that team also had a bowling attack of Rahat, Irfan and Ehsan Adil with Steyn, ABD and Amla.

I would say the fact Pakistan only lost by 4 wickets in the 2nd test with that attack was a much better performance than this one.
