What's new

South Africa defeat Pakistan by seven wickets in 5th ODI to seal 3-2 series win

Pak let saf of the hook early on which resulted in match lost in first 15 overs. Even if pak had 300 on board, the way they bowled they wud have lost then as Well

Shadab either bowling too full or too short. Leggie has to bowl the in between length otherwise he becomes useless.

SA is looking like winning it by about 5 wickets at the very least.

From this ODI series, only Shaheen has been impressive, even Imam to an extend, rest of the team are bunch of mediocre cricket wannabees.

Shinwari has bowled with lot of energy than other Left arm pacers,Imam is decent find for the opening Slot.

During Asia cup there was a commie who said “what an introduction to the final Jadeja” when he was hit for a boundary. I am trying to figure out his name, I think he was from RSA.

I doubt it was Mike Haysman, that guy just sits in SA.

South Africa in cruise mode now and onto a competitive ODI series victory. Pakistan, back to drawing board and need to find that elusive wicket taking bowler and better batsman.

Why this guy Rizwan was so hyped
Pakistan better put cello tape on Umar Akmal mouth and have him as backup keeper for world cup...

A cello tape will solve a lot of problems.
1) he cant speak
2) he cant eat
3) he cant drink water.

India trashed this SA team 4-1 and Pakistan is going to lose 3-2. India is trashing a full strength NZ in NZ while Pakistan lost 5-0. Makes for very depressing reading and shows that the rankings of the respective teams don't lie. For far too long we have carried players who choke in crunch games, need to move on after the 2019 WC.

Its sad but we are just not going to win with this team - we need to play the best talent and not make fitness, off field issues and external things the criteria for selection. Your skill and talent should be the primary thing justifying selection.

It has to be:

1. Shaan Masood (If he ever does get an opportunity you will see that he is a very talent ODI batsmen more than tests)
2. Fakhar Zaman (I would rather he move to one down or 4, but Babar is doing well in the one down spot)
3. Babar Azam
4. Umar Akmal (Performed better than Hafeez and Malik and current lot of batsmen - we hate him for scoring 40 off 40 or 35 off 30 and not converting or going big, he batted at 6 for most innings and would you rather a run a ball 40 or a 40 off 65. Atleast we know that there is hope if he bats.
5. Hafeez C (Does not bat well in the top order and can provide 4-6 overs)
6. Asif Ali (We need to persist with him he can turn out to be a match winner, we give our players 3,4 maybe 6 games while teams like Australia and England invest and back their talent even if they fail only then we can see results.)
7. Rizwan WK (Bats much better than Sarfraz and you will see this once hes given more opportunities)
8. Ammad Butt/Shadab - depending on pitch
9. Hassan Ali
10. Shaheen Afridi
11. TIme to try someone new that can actually swing the ball or provide pace (M Musa or Naseem Shah)

lol that team won't do any better.

asif ali :))

you're basically putting someone not even half as good as afridi at 6.

Slight correction India beat this SA team 5-1 not 4-1

Van der Dussen is a rock. He needs to be drafted into the Test team as well.

This team is worst than the one playing today

No need of making fantasy XIs. We are simply not good enough. It is time to accept our mid-table status.

The “ikka dukka” wins against top flight opposition should be cherished and the expectations lowered.

Ignore the haters, they have nothing better to do but be fixated with their Imam loyalist agenda.

I actually like this side. Good post!

Anyone else who can hit the ball better than him in Pakistan currently? The role of number 6 should ideally be to clear the boundary, obviously he needs to work on other aspects of his game like strike rotation and defensive technique but I would rather invest in him than keep playing sarfraz, malik or Imad.

Seems the window has closed. This game notwithstanding, well played Pakistan in this series. SA won 3 to 4 key moments in this series, otherwise scoreline would have been reversed. It was a surpise after test series. Sarfraz's incident was a distraction and was unfortunate. As far as SA goes, they have unearthed Van Dussen who doesn't have a "C" bone. Cool as a cucumber and plays pace and spin well. Steyn is done and Amla as usual hides in crunch games. SA batting looks brittle.

Pakistan should stick with this team only with sarfaraz leading..
Need to regroup before the WC.. Sometimes mindset of a team matters more than momentum going into the Big tournament...

A better team would be:

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Shan (make him bat at 4)
Haris/Saud
Explosive Wicket keeper batsman
Imad/any other hitter who can also bowl
Shadab
Shaheen
Hasan
Right arm fast bowler.

lol stop exposing yourself again

As a matter of fact I exposed your agenda. The reason why you ridiculed his team was because of your love affair with Imam and your hate for Umar Akmal. You know that's the truth.

Stop ridiculing other posters for trying to come up with constructive ideas.

You cant move an opener to the middle order - compare Shan's List A stats against Imam. Shaan has the Australian work ethic so wouldnt be surprised if he becomes a future great for us, matter of giving him a chance in his best format.

Unfortunately the Akmals are the only explosive WK Batsmen in the country at the moment.

Khushdil Shah could be a possible replacement for Imad.

Why cant we move an opener to middle order? Tendulkar, Ganguly, Sehwag all have gone through this phase.

you didn't expose anything, you did a poor job at defending umar akmal as our best batsman and match winner.

and look what happened, imam left early and you barely touched 250 let alone 350... tryna blame him for not getting more runs when he's the only reason you were posting good totals to begin with :))

asif ali at 6 is not the solution.

although i think umar can be better at 4 than hafeez.

What has happened to Amir - seems pathetic like he's not trying and doesn't want to improve.

He bowled better when he first came back from his ban, rather than getting better with greater international exposure he has regressed significantly.

Pakistan need to rethink there strategy before WC , they need to look at India , and use two specialist spinners in middle order

The pitch where Pakistan scored 310 odd and Imam making the century - 350 should have been scored, everyone that batted scored more than run a ball it seemed relatively easy to bat on, if I remember correctly - Hafeez, Babar, Imad, Hendriks, FAF, Miller all scored quickly. Imam's inning was evident that he was just trying to get some runs under his belt regardless of how many balls it took.

Quite a surrender to be honest, was expecting better fight. By no means 240 should be such walk in the park at Newlands under light.

and imam got out today, look what happened.

your team wouldn't have reached 250 if it wasn't for imams century
