South Africa end Day 3 of the 3rd Test at Newlands at 101/2, needing 111 more runs to win the series

hahah kohli firing on all cylinders now "DRS IS sH*** , " "This one will be above shoulder height"

Ashwin also getting involved giving Supersport some free airtime, dunno why they all turned on to the broadcasters.

Blame the Indian top order, they should have scored atleast 60 more... This loss is all on the Indians..

However I get a gut feeling Indians can get right back in it if they get a few quick ones here.
 
Poor behaviour by India. Loosing a series in Africa is not a new thing. They shouldn't stoop to this level.
 
Had we been asked to chase, we'd have royally floundered as usual in both the tests.
 
Huge wicket that for india, pretty much into SA tail now.
 
Such a starange decision by the 3rd umpire considering the ball had left the ball when sniko showed the disturbance which I think came from the foot scratching against the soil there.

This has ended in an almost identical situation to what was at the end of the 3rd day of 2nd test.

Pretty even at the moment, couple of quick wickets tomorrow morning and India will win, but South Africa have got to a stage where even a 50 run partnership from here will win them the game.

Nope...chalk and cheese comparison.

Ajmal's ball missed due to spin and not due to bounce.

Remember DRS works on assumption with a set of guidance given to the machine.

Ajmal was a big turner of the ball...he was spinning miles in Mohali. It hit the middle of Sachin' pad and missing the leg stump due to the spin and angle that technology predicted back then.

Here a ball bowled at 51mph hitting below knee of a 5'10 batsman shown to be bouncing over the stumps. That is logically impossible unless someone tampers with the DRS.

Both are very different.

when I saw how far forward he was. I had a feeling it may be clipping but I do not think any one cheated or manipulated the cameras. In either case, he has put himself in a difficult position as he has accused broadcasters of cheating on live tele
 
But nothing will happen. No disciplinary hearing or whatnot. He will get away with it, like he always did in the past. Kohli had improved his behavior so much over the past few years, and again he is regressing. Goes to show how your personal form can take a toll on your mind as well.

Kohli is the captain of the biggest board and golden boy of cricket. When he speaks...cricket world listens. He is bit like Ronaldo whose one criticism of Coca Cola have serious repurcussions on the company's shares. So its not Kohli who is in a difficult position but supersports need to be careful here. They may also lose few sponsors just bcoz cricket's biggest draw criticized them on live tele.

How about South Africa and Dean Elger forfeiting the match ?

Would that help Kohli and BCCI, as India will win away Test series in South Africa ? Woukd super sport lose sponsors ?

I was surprised that Kane Williamson did not forfeit WTC final and yet he was still allowed to play in IPL.

Stop threatening other boards, broadcasters and audience. Not a single icc title since 2013 and yet these empty threats mean next to nothing.

Ran away from 5th Test in England too.
 
SA should win from here. A quick 40-50 runs and the game will be over. Anyone can score those runs.

I fully respect India's achievements in this era, they are an outstanding Test team but some of their chest thumping fans can make it very difficult when they are so quick to resort to these cheap threats like "we own cricket, our sponsors will boycott you" etc.

Grow up, it's just a game not war.
 
Rishabh Pant's unbeaten 100 bailed India out of trouble after an early collapse, but South Africa took control by stumps thanks to a brilliant partnership between Dean Elgar and Keegan Petersen.

South Africa finished the day at 101/2, still needing a further 111 runs to win. That was largely due to the 78-run stand between Petersen and Elgar after the opener Aiden Markram fell early in the final session.

India had gone into the final session on a high, thanks to Pant's magnificent 100*, which helped them set the hosts a target of 212. However, so effective were Petersen and Elgar that the tables quickly turned.

Petersen carried his rich vein of form as he played some delightful shots to remain unbeaten on 48 at the end of the day's play. Elgar, meanwhile, did find himself in tricky positions, but managed to survive and helped build a stand of 78.

Unfortunately for the South Africa captain, he was dismissed at the very end of the day, when he tried to chase a wide delivery down the leg side from Jasprit Bumrah and was caught behind for 30. Stumps were called soon after, setting up an intriguing fourth day.

Despite that, the plaudits for the day will go to Pant. India hadn't gotten off to the kind of start they were looking for in the morning – they lost Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane within the first two overs of the morning, but Pant rose to the occasion and scored a magnificent century to dig the visitors out of trouble.

Petersen took a brilliant catch at leg slip to bring an end to Pujara's innings in the second delivery of the morning by Marco Jansen. Rahane's struggles continued as he got dismissed in the very next over by a terrific delivery from Kagiso Rabada. It meant India were four down having added just one run to their overnight score of 57/2.

Virat Kohli held his end up, like he did in the first innings, and Pant joined him in the middle, knowing a partnership at this stage was paramount. They batted sensibly and succeeded in dragging India out of the doldrums, Kohli's caution, and constant guidance, allowing Pant to play his natural game.

Pant took a liking to Keshav Maharaj in particular, looking to attack him whenever he was brought on. The 24-year-old hit some long sixes off his bowling as well, and they carried India safely through to lunch.

They carried on into the second session, but a blistering Lungi Ngidi spell brought the the Proteas right back into it. Ngidi provided a much-needed breakthrough, dismissing Kohli to bring an end to his 94-run stand with Pant. Kohli attempted a booming cover drive, but only managed to fend it to the slip cordon, where Markram took a terrific catch.

Thereafter, it was all about Pant. India lost their last five wickets for just 36 runs, with Ngidi claiming two of those wickets – R Ashwin and Shardul Thakur – in quick succession. But Pant managed to defy South Africa, scoring quick runs towards the end to get to a well-deserved century off just 133 balls.

It was his fourth Test century, and third overseas. He also became the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a hundred in South Africa.

India were soon shot out for 198, and the partnership between Petersen and Elgar would change the mood in the camp – but both teams have hope, to contrasting degrees, come day four.

Kohli, Ashwin and Rahul have got to be fined and banned. If the Indians retaliate with sponsor withdrawals and boycott then so be it. Such behavior cannot be condoned and tolerated on the field.
 
RVD is a walking wicket and will just bat negatively tomorrow until he gets out. its all down to keegan, if india get him early rest will fold like a pack of cards.

Nope, unless they dead bat the entire time.

I expect SA to win it from here unless the Indians bowl brilliantly. India won't make it easy due to good bowling, but 110 runs are simply not enough if even one batsman score 40-50 runs.

I agree that Ind cant lose this match. The saffer batting lineup doesnt have the lower order of yesteryear and if Ind get an early wicket, the Saffers will fall apart unless. You can easily see that at 150-7 in the morning session
