How are SA going to bat on this pitch. Balls taking off and keeping low all over the place. No way Sa are going to get near 300 which is likely the target.

Bavuma, what an athlete, so close to getting rishabh runout. Similar to getting David warner run out in 2017 or so.
Chances of thunderstorms later in afternoon and tommorow.
Pitch playing tricks but also has periods where it flattens out and easy for scoring.
With all this in the mix, what are india looking at ? declare at lead of 320?-

maybe india dont need to declare, that decison will be taken out as might even be all out.
I just hope and pray Jazz boom and the two Mo's dont get injured in the inconsistent bounce on offer

Great to see Bumrah coming out to bat, means he should be fit to bowl too.

I would declare. More than enough to win, no need to risk bowlers getting injured. This wicket is borderline dangerous with this steep inconsistent bounce.

So in order to prop our current 'batting' line-up, you call those batsmen FTBs? Or worse still, you accuse them of something more sinister, pitch fixing!

Sorry not that extent! I am just probably getting carried away with the current bowling unit which is gold (which we didn't had ever!) Rohit, Rahul, Pant, Thakur are enough to win matches with this bowling unit with occasional side-stands by Pujara, Rahane (which they are definitely doing!)

Just one clear fact! If India had more consistent batsmen, we would never have thought of including 5th bowler in the team (which is the important secret our success in tests in last few years). We would have perhaps been happy playing 6 batsmen. Who would you have dropped if Sehwag, Gambhir, Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly & Laxman were playing with this bowling unit?

Its some kind of blessing in disguise which I feel...

No problem with pant ,he played very good cameo which team needed at this point.

Duanne Olivier would have been unplayable here. This Marco Jensen is a trundler.

India will win by 200 runs.

SA have dropped catches, bowled poorly in the first innings, QDK once again looks a lost little boy and there have been too many extras.

India have been a professional unit, assured, skilled, well practiced.

Match might perhaps end today itself! Pitch looking dangerous to bat...

here is siraj. make room on leg and swing heave ho through the offiside. if he connects, he gets a few ...will be fun watching

How many wickets india will take in last session ? My prediction SAF 90/4

Anything above 220 would be an epic chase. India have to bowl really really bad to not win this one!

OR rather South Africa should bat really really well to win it (Smith, Kirsten, Kallis, Cullinan, Amla, ABD, Klusener should all return for that to happen!)

South Africa need 305 runs to win the test match . still lots of play left today .need Elgar wicket as soon as

The match might end today itself.
27 wickets have fallen since yesterday morning, in just about 1.5 days.

I just saw on some stat board Eng have lost their last 12 out of 13 tests played in oz. The one draw was because of the Melbourne motorway wicket in 2017 where i think about 23 wickets fell in 5 days.
I knew Eng were not that flash but did'nt realize their record was so rock bottom. And they still moan at SC pitches when they cant play bounce and seam in Aus conditions.
On the same front Considering SAF have grown up on such wickets - should'nt they be scoring gadzillion runs against us who come from different conditions? at least they should be super fluent whilst batting in their own conditions and also take bag fuls of wickets against us. Not to speak of - know exactly where to place their slips fields men something we severly lack, i always feel our slips are too deep and so many catches have gone abegging as it just falls short.

India deserve to win the match after sensible batting by their Top order in the first inning and then due to their bowlers bowling well, especially Shami. Let's hope rain does not spoil the game.

With England it's the pressure of the Ashes series, we prioritise it right at the very top, from first class cricket right down to league cricket, when the ashes is on everything else is secondary. For this reason England are always under pressure to perform, in Australia England struggle. The same conditions in south africa where they have fast bouncy seaming wickets yet England in the last 15 years have performed admirably in south africa.

Growing up Never thought one day watching Indian fast bowling will be the most exciting thing to watch in a test match.

Pressure is quite convenient excuse for England being dire in Ashes for long. Handling pressure is an equally important ingredient of a sportsman repertoire besides the sporting talent obviously.

India need to keep plugging away and wickets will come, i can see india will win by 130 runs here.

This session is most important for us. Whatever damage we need to inflict, needs to be done in this session itself. Who knows if any cricket will be played tomorrow.

That's my point they haven't handled pressure well every time they travel to Australia. It's nothing to do with conditions, England play well in South Africa in similar conditions against Genuine fast bowlers, obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, but like I've pointed out England can play and win conditions that are similar to Australia.

Shami and jazz bowling a tad too short. need to pitch it up further and use the half pitch bouncer as a surprise weapon. also vk should keep a fwd short leg - cmon have 300 odd runs to play with.
on the other hand petersen looks a million dollars. very balanced and sure with his judgement, good leaves and great driving. A star for saf cricket for the future along with janssen

Not watching live due to work but agree with your point on Petersen. I watched SA first inning's highlights yesterday and was very impressed with Petersen's batting (Though he didn't score much).
I think he is going to be a good player for SA in future.

Maybe we collectively jinxed him :ua

but surely a champ in the making

So you didn't see the likes of Srinath and zaheer in their pomp? Srinath was genuinely fast with very awkward bounce.

At that time our batting was miles better than our bowling so we loved our batting more.

Whats kohli doing? cmon get close in fielders for the new batsman. with uneven bounce u can be sure jazz boom will get one to rise. there's plenty of runs in the locker - just be aggro with your field placings

RVD looking like a rabbit in headlights here, cant see him lasting long here.

For me Siraj is the most exciting new fast bowler. Apart from the obvious skills on display i love his unceasing energy

Come on Lord Thakur. Get hit for a boundary or two and then a wicket.

Couple of wickets now?

Looking at things, match might head towards draw with rain forecast also tomorrow... The best bet was to get them all out today itself. But South Africa have not declined to the level of West Indies, they are still reasonably good at home... Usually South African pitches do not have too much wear & tear on the last day. Spinners can't do anything here and no reverse swing either... (No wonder South Africa haven't produced a single world class spinner) Also this is the place where you can draw matches if batsmen apply themselves (compared to England & Australia!)

Indian bowlers bowling really well. SA Batsmen too playing well.
Good cricket overall.

Need 1-2 wickets before stumps. Half an hour play remaining for today.

Why is Maharaj sent so early? 12 overs still to be bowled before stumps today.

Big win for India on the cards. Don’t think SA can get the runs unless one of the batsmen plays a blinder and scores a 150

Indeed. Rassie could have done nothing about it even if he had attempted a shot
Bumrah has this uncanny knack of taking wickets off unplayable deliveries when least expected.

He exhibited this in England test series and made us win that test out of nowhere.

having 1 great bowler in your ranks is not the same as having an exciting bowling unit that is fun to watch regardless of who is bowling. I can’t believe I have to expand on my earlier statement.

There are spells of Sreeshanth or Pathan or RP I have enjoyed too but I am talking about a collective pace bowling unit.
