South Africa tour of Bangladesh (2024)

16 wickets in just 80 overs .if this test is happening in india then some people's are already crying about pitch

thats a gr8 achievement....anyone who gets 200 wkts in Tc has to be of some skill and ability...
i feel it wsa just recent he debuted and very quick to 200 wkts

Think about it like this..we are minnows so people don't think much about how we win(as we rarely do)..you guys are top tier so people will cry if they see pitch like this and say India had to had help of the pitch to win. Take those crying as complements

Yes. Taijul is very underrated.

He didn't play many games because BD were playing Shakib and Miraz. Otherwise, he might have had 300 Test wickets by now.

Agreed. He's a good captain, has been leading since U-19 days and is an all-format mainstay for South Africa. Bavuma struggles to make the side on merit, let alone be captain.

I think he's pretty perfectly rated. He has only been successful in Bangladesh.
 
We can ridicule BD when they travel but they used to be pretty decent side against SENA and WI in their own dust bowls. This is poor performance. Batting seems to be completely gone. They need to completely revamp their top order. Player like shanto should be fighting to get into team and not the captain. Only Mushi and Mominul seems to be decent batsmen and Liton once in a blue moon will perform. They need a new top order. Unfortunately they may need to find complete top order, not easy

They still have a decent chance to make a comeback. They shouldn’t be setting up such dust bowls it just bridges the gap between their bowlers and opponents bowlers.

Depends on the cyclone how it changes direction. So far sky is clear. Forecast shows rain from 3rd day
 
70-80 runs lead will be deciding factor here. Hope that game is not wahsed out.
 
I don't think BD needs this kind of tracks to be honest. They had decent spin and pace in Pakistan. Yes, in India they struggled but I won't read much into Indian tour.

BD can simply have turning tracks and do well.

If cyclone induced rain then there will be two day persistent rain..day 3 might see play untill lunch and no play on day 4. If rain stops we will see full day 5, mirpur's drainage is very good.

Depends on the cyclone now

Tomorrow will be full days play and the way SA batted I don't think there is any chance of draw..BD will bat again tommorow and i will be surprised if we are not all out by the end of the day
 
Test Cricket is going in the wrong direction after WTC. It's all about "do everything you can to beat the opposition." It will always be super turning pitch, super flat pitch, or super swinging environment.

I know BCB invested heavily on players like Nazmul Shanto, but its time to man up and admit he has been a failure in all formats of the game so far.

He is alright in ODIs. Probably your best batter now that Mahmudullah is retired.

Bangldesh have beaten South Africa quite a few times (including 2 World Cup wins and 2 ODI series win).

Furthermore, this Test is not over yet. SA are leading by only 34 runs with 4 wickets in hand.

20 over or 50 over flukes vs SA 'B' sides can happen, this doesn't mean anything. Have they won any test match yet? If the answer is No, my point is still valid.

I agree ,he averages 47 outside Bangladesh. On turning tracks like in Bangladesh ,he is very good.

What fellow people was trying to say that Taijul was under shadow of the stardom of Shakib throughout his career while most of the times he was even better than Shakib with the ball. It was quite expected as Shakib was the number one all rounder in the world ,not only a left armer like Taijul.

Rather Taijul should feel lucky that Shakib missed a lot of tests in this timeframe intentionally to prolong his career and Tajul could play in those tests . And in many tests both Shakib and Taijul played together even though they were both left armers.

SA is leading now by 78 runs with 4 wickets in hand.
 
that is why I said yesterday both teams were a bowler short having a proper all-rounder as 4th bowling option . 189/6
 
Good partnership so far .

Lead is 83 runs another 50 runs and game over for Bangladesh .

You should not hope to win any test with this batting line up. Bangladeshi batsmen are seriously lacking technique, temperament, application.

playing 3 bowlers & a all-rounder too does not help ....
 
BD may get impacted by Cyclone Dana. So, this Test can become a draw.

But, knowing BD, they may still end up losing. LOL.
 
South Africa have batted BD out of the game most likely.

Lead of 120+ runs in Mirpur is decisive.

Draw or SA win. Generally when teams take a lead in BD in 2nd innings , the team batting first never wins. Especially this big a lead

Verreyne is a good player. I hope he is South Africa's main wicketkeeper going forward.
