Whats the drama in that?

Whats his reason for not allowing him a runner?

If a player is carrying an injury into the game then fair enough, but smith picked up the injury during this match...

Botha is STUPID!

You have Smith at the other end, dont try and hit a 6 dumb dumb

Anyways the South Africans cant complain about Strauss refusing Smith a runner. It had nothing to do with Morkel's run out or Botha skying the ball second ball.

He is not injured. He is cramping and in that situation its totally upt the fielding captain either he allows the runner or not. Strauus made his decision, I cant see any drama in that.

Can a cramp come under the category of carrying an injury?

Would Smith have allowed Strauss a runner in this situation?

nooooo, england couldn't possibly win, we always lose when we score 300. and we're rubbish and south africa are amazing and their strategy was spot on

etc

strauss is setting the field........ but another 4444444 by smith......

This is where Smith has to to a real captains innings, win the game and not shake Strauss hand. Tell him 2 words.

South Africa require another 61 runs with 3 wickets and 30 balls remaining Required RR 12.20

In this situation captains tend to in the overwhelming majority grant the runner. Its just something that is done...

If he can call back a batsmen he cant give someone who clearly cant walk a runner?

I think so and I am surprised Strauss didn't allow him one. And Strauss takes Owais Shah off the field cause he was having fielding issues

van der merwe is also in mood of playing shoots but anderson is not allowed him & cleaned bowled him.....

Thats his decision, he is made that. So, no drama.

It si OK, Strauss is an ex-South African. When England tours in a few months time, someone will be boo'd. :13:

Anderson to van der Merwe, OUT, bowled him! a full ball, van der Merwe goes for the booming drive, he misses , Anderson knocks back offstump, top bowling this

england an Pakistan are sleeping dogs....

u never know when they are going to unleash................
good job england team

Why blame Strauss? Whether he gave Smith a runner or not, it doesnt matter with respect to how Morkel got run out, Both skied second ball, Van der ma got bowled.

Be a sport. SA should not have conceeded 324 runs against a weak English ODI team and should not have lost to an over rated Sri lankan team in the first game. The hotshot tournament favorites should not have played so poorly in this tournament.

Broad is absolutely sh*t! The boy is reminding me of Sami here.

The Ashes.

Jimmy has been awesome today, toss up between Jimmy and Morgan for man of the match

Strauss just knocked you out of your own tournament in your own ground full of your own fans. we might get booed and whitewashed on the coming tour but for now, I doubt he cares

If he didnt call the batsman back in the SL game that would also be his decision, and yet there would have been drama then.

So thats rather silly logic youre using mate.

South Africa require another 58 runs with 2 wickets and 24 balls remaining

Hey, what about Shah?

dropped Smith

I feel Jimmy and Eoin had a bigger overall impact on the momentum of the game

Smith is a ruthless character, in pressure situations he can dish out verbals to the opposition, he has done it in the past and i am certain he would have refused Strauss a runner if he was facing this situation.

Anyways not that it would make any difference to the end result of the game. South Africans have been outplayed. As usual over hyping themselves before a major tournament, pretending they have won it before it even begins.

Whippy, only today my man. Not questioning his bowling in the test series. Kept bowling rubbish today though.

It is called sportsmanship.

Do you kick a man when he is down?

fair enough. I've been a Broad fan since his introduction, so I'm quite sensitive :D
Rubbish at times, but I think he has had a better beginning than Freddie, encouraging

They better have calculated how much they need to get to surpass SL or they won't even have a minute chance. After this game, either SL or SA are definitely out of the tournament I think...

a fighting knock a skipper comes to an end.. but he is disappointed,.

45.5
Anderson to Parnell, no run, slower bouncer from Anderson, Parnell was through with his "****" before the ball arrived, attempts a second shot at it, the ball sails over middle stump

:))) :)))

Sorry about that.

But lets be honest, SA have their best side ever now, the team is balanced, they have pacers, spinners, hard hitters, consolidators and they still chocked in a major ICC tournament.
