They just ruined the chance to win this game by not getting them out before.

SA still took 9 wickets in roughly 2 sessions and 20 overs. Not a bad effort when only Steyn was going great guns. If it was not for his spell, game was done and dusted.

Bit disappointing from Vern. Had he contributed then SA could have had more time to bat. Anyway, now it's time to bat with intent and score some quick runs. If SA can make 450 then I think result will come. New ball won't do much, only reverse swing needs to be watched.

Philander cannot bowl on pitches which does not offer bounce and swing.

SA must score at 3.5 if they want to have any chance or it would be boring 0-0.

Whatever you say, he is still one of the best fast bowlers ever and the only one in the last 7 years or so to match up to past greats. If you are going to nitpick each performance by a bowler then no one is great.

Ofcz he is. I just compared two performances, found this one better.

From 180/1 to 330 odd all out, how it is not a god come back? It's very good come back otherwise Indians would have batted SA out of this game. If SA can bat long and with intent then game is on.

My point is they were essentially batted out of this shortened game on day 1. Teams don't tend to lose test matches from 180/1

Not sure that game is a sure draw here.

Well, let see if SA can bat long with some quick runs. This session is easiest to bat so time to make some quick runs before reverse swing becomes a factor.

steyn caused the typical reverse swing collapse, if smith continued with old ball India would have bundled well before.

Lol Saffers are not missing out on anything. And there was me thinking that they might be a bit circumspect.

India really, REALLY has a weak bowling attack in ALL forms of the game. It is just a fact.

SA clearly taking India on. Not messing about at all.

India should be a little careful with South African run rate. They know reverse swing will be the key later and are attacking the new ball..

Pathetic from Zak so far.

Being a senior experienced bowler, he should have been at least bowling tight. But the guy is bowling slow half volleys and on pads.

Dravid took his 200th catch on 27th December 2010 vs South Africa at Durban dismissing Dale Steyn off
bowling of Harbhajan Singh in his 149th Test. Dale Steyn took 6 for in the first inning in that match. Kallis
takes his 200th catch on 27th December 2013 vs India at Durban dismissing Zaheer Khan off bowling of Dale Steyn in his 166th Test. Dale Steyn has taken a 6 for in the first inning in this match so far."

Coincidence :13:

Good intent from SA. They probably know the match would be drawn if they don't score fast enough.

Zak is a mere trundler now. His return will only be a short stay in the Indian team.

Soon BK or Yadav will take his spot.

BK? Lol. Another trundler. Has to be Umesh. Mohit has to be given a couple of chances as well. Can't judge him based on ODI's. Has an excellent FC record as well. He may end up being crap but we have to try him atleast.

SA is doing well to get runs with new ball. It will be more difficult with older ball.

BK at least is good with the new ball. Do not judge BK based on One dayers.

Zak looks trash and seems to have lost it. Age is not going to help him at all.

Yeah talks of 400 or draws is premature. Reverse swing and how the spin goes for India will decide the game

BK averages 37 in Test cricket. I wasn't judging based on ODI's. Swing at 80 mph is not good enough.

But there is literaly no swing. I cant remember the new ball not swingin in SA. Very strange pitch this

SA should score around 400 by the end of tomorrow to have a realistic chance at winning the test.

This still looks like a draw to me.

Well in SA anything can happen. Only two or three Indian batsmen have made themselves count in all the innings played so far. SA is capable of rolling out this Indian XI cheaply if things go their way.

Man at the deep square boundary? 1st over of the innings? Pathetic captain is Dhoni

Bit unfair here. He has plenty of catching positions and no third man even though there is no swing. If I was Dhoni , I will simply try to be patient and not over attack.

Nothing happening with new ball! Have conditions ever been like this in South Africa?

i got wind that the pitch was prepared by a new curator. He did not want to make a mess so he prepared a pitch to last 5 days. Why he mowwed the grass to the T i have no idea. Deserves a lashing
