South Africa are the favorites to win this test.. With Robin Peterson coming at 8 and Philander at 9 (phew!) India will be staring at 500-600 by lunch/tea on 4th day..

SA should look to score aggressively the entire day tomorrow and on to the 4th day lunch.

Problem here is SA should get about 350 before tea on Day-4 to have a realistic chance of bowling India out on Day 5.

Going to be very tricky with Jadeja spinning the ball. It still looks like a Draw to me.

On this pitch scoring runs against new ball is easy as the ball gers older scoring becomes difficult as well as the ball starts reversing and turning, how india bowls with old ball is key.

Problem is that lead will only be 200 there. Not enough to scare India.

India will again manage 300+ in 2nd innings. SA will not have enough time to score those runs.

wouldn't count india out yet, even sa couldn't do much with the new ball but caused fair bit of damage with the older one.
shami and jaddu are the key to India's chances here.

Match depends on rain chances is that there will be no play on sunday, monday

20 odd from Rohit would have enabled one more good partnership and would have enabled India to get closer to 400. With SA scoring so fast, India is in a bit of trouble here.

20 overs are done so hopefully 10 more and we should start reversing it and then starts the fun :msd

Under pressure, while playing for a draw , this newbie batting line up may crumble. SA needs to simply score quick runs and hope for the best.

Batting last on this pitch is going to be horrible and difficult.

Like I said earlier whoever takes a first innings lead will have an advantage but consdering SA have to bat last they really need 450 at least so they dont chase too many. India just need a wicket and the game opens up as it will be hard to bat against spin.

But still draw is favourite considering time lost and the potential for more.

Pretty much my view as well but SA needs to be positive to get a result here. I don't think Indians will really mind getting a draw. If SA can take a good lead then I can see Steyn running full steam and win the test for Kallis to give him a winning send off.

Saffers are in a much better position now but need to take a lead of 60 runs atleast to feel safe.

If you meat SA chances of win then SA would want a bigger cushion because pitch may turn lot more and SA will have to bat last here. Only one spinner but still. If lead is not big enough then Indians may not be in that much pressure.

If by safe you mean SA not losing then I think even if SA levels the score, team will feel safe because time will be lost due to rain and poor light.

The thing is Jadeja could rip through South Africa tomorrow. Or SA do score 500+.
Then my biggest question would be how India approach the spinners? Do they take them on like they have in both tests, or go in a shell thus allowing them to find their groove and bowl in attacking areas with attacking fields and players around the bat. The former could be detrimental to India. Allowing the spinners to bog them down would allow the seamers to be rotated easily by Smith, thus keeping them fresh.

So many variables to be taken into account here, so any mumers about draws need to be swept under the carpet.

The way this match and the series as a whole has ebbed and flowed,u feel there are many more suprises to come in the next 3 days weather permitting.

Pitch is not that kind of tuner where you will expect Jadeja to rip through a batting line up. I think he did it against Aus but recently the Indian pitches have been turning a lot more. Jadeja is more of a defensive bowler so I am bit puzzled that Indians have played him as a lone spinner. If Indians had played 2 spinners then I could see SA getting bowled out cheaply but not with one when that spinner is Jadeja.

The thing is if and when india find themselves in a position where they could settle easily for a draw but could also push for victory by risking losing, will be a severe test of msd's captaincy.
knowing him,he will be going for a draw.

Herath is a defensive spinner too, he keeps things tight with his accurate bowling does not turn the ball that much either. Yet he ripped through SA taking a 10/9-for.

Jadeja looks very dangerous out there and i dont like it.

That was a one off. You guys batted extremely well against Ajmal in UAE. Jadeja should not be a big problem.

That's odd because Sir RJ looked innocuous really. Too many deliveries heading down leg side and all. But he might still come back.

Herath is a front line spinner for SL. I think Indians have played some tests even in India where they went with 2 spinner and no Jadeja. I may be wrong but that's what I remember. Jadeja is more like a third choice spinner so I was surprised to see him play as the lone spinner.

SA just need avoid playing expansive strokes against him and team will be fine. In ODI, I have seen Jadeja mainly as a holding bowler who keeps it tight without much turn. Other thing to watch out is reverse swing but over all, only 250 odd runs left to wipe out lead and then extra runs will put pressure back on Indian batsmen when they come out to bat.

They have batted 3 innings very well but let's see how well they do when they have to save a test( if that situation arises)

The game is well poised, its probably gonna be a draw if the rain prediction comes good but at the moment its anybody's game.

even after dominating 5 days and 1 session out of 7 days India is nowhere in terms of a good position, fascinating test match series, just goes to show how good it would have been had it been a 4 test series, yes India played poorly in occasions, getting out at leg side balls and dropping sitters but everyone thought we would lose both tests in first 3 days, India's next job today is to restrict SA get 4 RPO,not playing ashwin in place a of a batsman was a big blunder ,Jaddu is our only hope

India and Pakistan have the same predicament. One side cannot rely on winning games pov batting alone and the other cannot win games on bowling alone.
