I'm gonna stop watching now. Ridiculously boring game for the past 2 hours

There going to go off for light in the next over or so. This always happens, umpires will think oh batsman got out better go off :))

SA needs to up that run rate to put pressure on India. Or have they decided they don't want to win here?

in now as night watchman!

Still no 300 after after 104 overs

And people blame Misbah for being defensive

Say what you want about occupying the crease, I want a goddamn result!

Bdw with Kallis retiring if Dean Elgar comes in then SA will struggle against Aus.

There will be two sitting ducks in Elgar and Duminy. Also, Alviro.

6th wicket partnership : 58 runs, 29.2 overs, RR: 1.97 (Kallis 29, Duminy 28)

Where are the SA fans? How can they stand such a terrible batting display?

I can understand RR below 3 if ball is moving around and doing a lot and wickets are falling, but aside from Sir, Indian bowling has looked toothless. No reason for such batting apart from getting a selfish final ton

They played really slow. They should have Atleast reached 350 by days end

SA are about 70 runs short considering that Indian fast bowlers looked completely ineffective and Rohit actually bowled 10 friggin overs.

they scored 217 runs in 82.5 overs today - good way to try to force a win .

It was not easy to bat against spinners on this track.

Moreover India had defensive fields through out the innings so it was the smart thing to do. Not get carried away.

South Africa has still plenty of time if weather permits if not then in all likelihood it will be a draw with time lost to rain

SA were obviously apprehensive about the light and losing wickets at the end of the days play. They'll be attacking tomorrow morning and look to build a lead.

SA should look to score around 5 RPO tomorrow and get a lead of around 300 before Tea and have a go at Indians then.

A lot of ifs there though. What it Kallis falls or a couple of wickets go down tomorrow morning.. SA will look for a draw then.

Were you even watching the game. Its not like Dhoni was attacking he had defensive fields all over since the begining of the day so under such circumstances South Africa did very well considering Jadeja was threatening from one end through out.

People like you should concentrate your energy on T20 cricket only.

There was no selfish ton on offer infact if anything Kallis has shown what he is made of under difficult conditions where bowl was reverse swinging and spinning through out

I hope know one says at the end of the test that India got away due to rain or bad light.
On the 1st day we were in a commanding position at 181/1 and had we not gone off we could have added another 80-90 runs in the remaining 30 overs.
And now if sa had stayed on for remaining 15 overs,India might have picked up 2 more wickets,so it is sa who are lucky with the rain!

I didn't watch the match but what happened today? Did India bowl well or SA batted poorly? Or it was combination of both? SA made very little runs in so many overs.

jadeja magic!
SA scored 218/5 in 85 overs today.

A combination of everything.

India bowled decently. Jadeja was threatening.

Kallis was super super slow in scoring. Duminy was looking to survive mostly. Played a very cautious innings.

Bottom line is, Kallis and Duminy managed to negate the good work done by ABD.

Match is slightly in favor of SA. But it can change if India can get Kallis early in the morning tomorrow.

Well, SA should try to take quick 150 runs lead here and then put India to bat. Anything can happen with Steyn firing full cylinders. I expected better effort from SA today specially when team has lost only 5 wickets.

4.20 pm The rain has relented, and the light seems to have improved says Sidharth Monga from the ground

They won't get 150+ lead with jaddu bowling like this,he looked very threatning.
we would have bowled out the saffers,if the pacers had decided to help us a bit, instead of bowling rubbish.
don't think the tail will last tool long against jadz.

Well, I think Kallis will score quickly after getting his ton. Still SA is ahead because SA is not going to lose from this position but Indians can still lose this test match. Yahh quick 1-2 wickets will make it even.

I think 0-0 is on the cards, weather is not exactly too promising for tomorrow, and even if we get 2 full day's play, both teams might opt to play safe and bat out a draw.

If Faf and Kallis can take the lead to 75 runs then even tails can swing their bat and get some runs. Even a 100 runs lead and then having India will give a good chance to SA as long as runs are scored bit quickly.

Basically, SA has to score runs in their first inning and bat India out. Then let India play a surviving game without any hope of victory. That will test this newbie Indian team.

2 more wickets and we can restrict them to a low lead here ... common Jaddu

Rain seems to have stopped, we might get play started in another 15 minutes .... I hope there is no rain tomorrow

Well, if SA can bat long here then let's say by tea they have 200 runs lead then team can try to bowl out India in next 70-80 overs to win the game. SA still has advantage. Not a dominant one but still has an advantage as long as team can bat for long time. Kallis and Faf can bat but not sure about Faf against spin.

A hypothetical situation here
what if say sa end up with a lead of 50 tomorrow by end of lunch session and then India bat 3 sessions and make 250,setting sa a target of 200 in 2 sessions.
Do u think sa will go for it considering jaddu will be turning the ball square?

SA will go for it till team loses 2-3 wickets. Smith and Dhoni both are defensive captain so I don't expect India to give that kind of target unless they get bowled out. I also, don't expect Smith to keep going for it if SA loses 2-3 quick wickets.

Both these teams are very very defensive, nothing but 0-0 on the cards.

What if we get bowled out for 250.
and scoring 250 in 3 sessions is not a big deal, requires around 80 runs per session, which india makes regularly.
If such a situation arises where Sa have to make 200 in 2 sessions on last day pitch,it will be very interesting to see the tactics of both teams and could lead to a johannesburg type of finish :D

Horrible stuff by Kallis and Duminy. Selfish cricket in a way.

Kallis I understand a bit, his last test match and he wants that 100.

Duminy playing so slow, does not make sense. Well maybe he was just playing for his spot. On the other hand I blame South Africa, why would they send an out of form useless test batsman like Duminy over an inform Faf. Made no sense

excuse me for spelling it out but this has been another "selfish" innings from the big man. He'll have another exclusive stat to bolster his already unique set of stats but history will remember him for what he didnt do, to play for the WIN !

and once again today shows the difference between the Australian team of 2003 and the South African team of 2013.

South Africa just do not have the attitude and swagger to be a legendary great team, even though they had many of the pieces in place

Indian fast bowling or so called indian fast bowlers are pathtetic. They really lool club level. Relying on a part time spinner lol.

Unless steyn can trigger an other Indian collapse,I really don't see the Indian batting having any trouble on this pitch.
A draw seems the most likely result!

There's no doubt SA plan is to try and bat the majority of tomorrow and get a lead of about 150. Pitch is becoming uneven and hope they roll India out. They still have Faf and Peterson to bat along with Kallis in the middle so far.

If India bowl SA out below 400 this game will be very interesting.

You can't suddenly expect kallis to play like SRT or Ponting. He has played this way his entire life. Give him some break.

He may play faster after getting his ton but I don't think it's a selfish inning. If SA can bat for another 60 overs then team will get around 150 runs lead. India may collapse and Kallis may get a winning send off. This way SA will ensure that team won't lose this test and that's the first priority of Smith. He wants to avoid losing lot more than winning a test or series. It was clearly visible in the approach of the last 3 overs in previous test. But SA is still in a decent position. Unless, Indians bowl out SA quickly, SA will make sure that they won't lose this test.

Not an ideal play by SA today, specifically by Duminy. How can you bat that slow? It's not his last test and he was not near his century. He is playing for his spot.

so you are allowed to bat this slow when its your last test and you are near the century? :13:

Well, I know Kallis has always played like this and that is the reason why I would rate him a level below Lara, Ponting and Dravid. Its not about playing at a certain rate but reading the situation and playing as required for the team. Dravid was never criticized for batting too slowly in test, why? because he knew when to attack the opposition !

LOL,I didn't mean that way. I meant that Duminy had no extra pressure. I didn't say that it's allowed to bat that slow but you are human and you will feel pressure. You do want to score big in your last match. Duminy had none of those factors. That's what I meant.

Anyway, as you said , Kallis has batted same way always so why pick on him for this in his last match. I will put Kallis alongside Dravid. For all we know, this may turn out to be a winning knock if SA can bat for a long time tomorrow. It will be awesome if another ATG goes on a winning note.

well, they must try to restrict them to under 425 & weather permitting,we might be able to draw this game .

More likely a draw. Hope Kallis gets a 100 as it will be the best fitting way to bow out.

Speaking of bowing out, its goodbye from me everyone as I only be speaking on Bangladesh related issues and be moving on to other services now. Had a good time here and so all the best bye bye!

We will get them under 400,I'm fairly sure,we should not allow them a lead of more than 50.

Most likely a draw. India will not win even if they bowl out SA before lunch. Because knowing Dhoni, what is the score he will look for declaration if India does not get bowled out? At least 250+? That means India will not declare on day four. Draw or SA win are the only possible options at this time.

It wouldn't be wise to declare at that point.
It is one thing risking a bit to win and it's quite another to gift the match to the opposition.
declaring before 250 is like gifting the match away to the opposition.

That is why Indian win is almost out of the question.

The only way we could have an Indian win is if india score fast and then collapse, setting sa 220-230 odd in 50-60 overs and then getting them out while they try to go for a win.

Morkel said it looks like a subcontinental wicket . seems this flat rank turner pitch looks like it has been prepared on BCCI's request when negotiating with CSA for the curtailed tour . Pathetic .to see the levels they has stooped down to in bullying them to get them a pitch they want

Anyways, my money is on India now to win this match after setting a target of 250-300 for south africa to get it in 2 sessions ,i expect "sir" to have than 10-15 wickets .Cant see how proteas can save this with the ball turning square, if they try to push for a win..

I think the way jadeja is spinning the ball it could be all over tomorrow in a hurry and sa will be bowled out early tomorrow.
And I can only see India winning from here.bcz I think India will score 250_300 in 2 nd innings and sa will be batting last on
This pitch when jadeja will be turning the ball square and would get unplayable,so no chance south Africa.....:

Lol at some of the genius people making up things here.
