Robin Jackman and HD Ackerman reckon that the substitution rule should be introduced into cricket

If they were asked about us having a sub at adelaide i think it would have been a two word answer and the second word would have been off.

A sub is an idiotic idea.

In the fourth innings the batting team would sub their number XI for a batsman and the bowling team would sub a player for a spinner.

Australia can score huge here. It will be interesting to see SA bat here. Looking forward to watch Pattinson bowl too.

Haha HD was actually using that to justify his substitution idea.

I will post a thread about it later on though - I think it's worth talking about at least. Pros and cons and all that.

Disappointing way to get out.

Stage is set for Watto though.

Smith :out chopped on what a lame way to get out

Out for 84

Good knock from Smiffy though. I'd like him to score a daddy hundred one day. But right now he's looking good if he batted at 6.

Here comes Twatson

Elgar to Smith, OUT, oh played on. Smith misses out on a ton, and this is one of the filthiest balls that will get you a Test wicket. A long hop, a wide one at that, but it stays low, doesn't quite come on, and takes the bottom edge onto the stumps

drives me nuts when a rubbish bowler bowls a rubbish ball and gets a wicket its so undeserving.

like that undervering man at work who gets promotion before you do even though you work harder.

Twatson gets a referral on his first delivery

Twatto needs to play himself in quick

We want to be bowling by tea I reckon

Japies getting desperate, they are appealing for anything

ChrisH: "No Steyn zeroing. No scoreboard pressure. No excuses for Watson to not have a day out."

What a team Australia have become. They are just incredible.

They have been able to get a very good bowling attack fit at the same time, and caught ENG and SA when they are both on the way down.

What has impressed me is Warner's batting though - I thought he was a T20 slogger pressed into test action because there are no proper batsmen in Australia.

I'm a bit worried about the weather forecast. Though an hour probably won't make a difference

3 fine days after and a bit of rain today don't think it will mean much.

I say get 550 or more in the first dig while the pitch isn't doing a heck of a lot, they are just runs we would probably need to make in our 2nd dig anyway.

I think Australia should go all-out attack and try to roll the Saffers for a sub-200.

Could backfire, but if it works then the door will be firmly shut.

True. If we get 550 I reckon it will be near impossible for the Saffers to get back into it.

I wonder how our bowlers will bowl on this wicket with the wind. We will have two express and one fast this time and a decent spinner for the last couple of days. I think we're in a really good position, it's going to take a special effort for us to lose this Test.

:4 more Amla carries it over the edge

They have decided to put the pedal down I think. I reckon they want to declare by tea unless they somehow get bowled out

To be fair it didn't carry. Maybe they need to step closer

We will have to work hard to take 20 wickets on this surface I reckon

Which is why Australia should not declare. Bat on until all 10 wickets are gone. The score should be in excess of 600, and they shouldn't need to bat again.

Twatto was probably told to get a move on and is now out for 40

Expect Haddo to not hang around either

:4 for Pup

Moves to 145 that was a beautiful cover drive

Too full and wide and begging to be hit

The great James Pattinson can hang around though.

Johnson, Pattinson, Harris and Lyon is a pretty decent tail.

I don't think we can lose now. We may not win, but I think it would take a special effort to lose. It's going to be very tough for the Yarps.

I'm very curious to see how he bowls. He's going to have to bowl some decent spells.

Let's keep nilling Kyle Abbott. That will fark up his confidence.

Another Daddy Hundred from Clarke, 155 now

Yeah and he hasn't looked convincing in the limited overs.

No he was spraying it around. At his best he is a gun tho.

Heaps of clouds over Table Mountain at the moment. For the record I've been on top of Table Mountain and it is farking awesome. Cape Town is the prettiest city I've ever been to and I've been to heaps.

Jonno :out
Pushing on for a declaration. I reckon we will see one by tea or whenever it starts to really move around. Pup is out there so it will help

Don't want to be too sooky but man it sure does rain a fair bit when we are on top.

Lol, cricket seems to bring out the rain here. Cape Town went about a month with blue skies and no rain, before the cricket arrived

Don't be sooky mate. The rain will help us when we bowl

Now I'm really off to bed. Still raining in the prettiest city in the world
