Jesus this is turning out to be the ball tampering series :)))

Are the teams taking it in turns to ball tamper? Saffers last game, Aussies this game?

I remember when Saffers were accused of ball tampering last year, the next few games after it miraculously stopped reverse swinging for them.

Should just legalize it.

Barry Richards agrees. We all know every professional cricket team does it anyway. Ban anyone using teeth, bottle caps, zippers etc but let them use their mint lollies and spit.

Brave declaration from Michael Clarke. Trusted his bowlers and they have repaid his trust with four wickets in the morning session. Nobody can say that Clarke isn't trying to win the game. To SA's credit they have scored fast and tried to make a game of it too.

If SA somehow fail to avoid the follow on target (168 runs away) I think Clarke might actually enforce it, because of the time factor. Depends how many overs left in the game and the weather over the next couple of days. The bowlers have only bowled 32 overs and have already taken 4 wickets.

jonno. Harris, Pattinson, cummins, starc, siddle, Bird, bollinger, thats a handy battery of quicks

Ozzies giving Faf a chirp after he comes back to the crease after being off for 5 mins

Also Heysman and Wessels doing their best to convince the audience that the OZ are somehow tampering with the ball. Something along the lines of "they are getting it to reverse swing now when they couldn't in PE hmmm" lol

And based on Lehmann's philosophy those players will only get a game if they can bowl at least 140k.

ABCD is :out

Caught in the slips by Pup off Jonno caught at the crease

5/133 now

Can we roll them for below 294? And if so will Pup enforce the follow on?

Duminy :out for 4

Harris angles it across JP's body and regulation edge taken by the keeper

6/146 Seffrica in disarray

Here come the cowlashers. 149 more needed to avoid the follow on

Great stuff today from the old cripple, could be his last test if the surgery goes bad so lets hope it's a great one.

59 overs left today. So we've taken 6 wickets in 38 overs. I reckon enforce the follow on if the opportunity arises

Rhinno you beast. Wish I could swap my age with you, just to see you bowl for a bit more time.

If they cross 200, we may not see a follow on. A quick 200-250 from Australia would take South Africa out of the equation.

S.A in a massive hole here and they need to some how scrape past the follow on mark which is looking far away right now, can Aussies be ruthless enough to win the match from here?

S.A 154/6

Patto is a worry, looked very ordinary his last few test outings and looks like a bloke with no real bowling behind him today.

Pattinson has no control over his bowling, unless he improves that Hes gonna b average

That's because he hasn't lol. He hasn't played a first class match since mid last year which is why he is spraying it around. I didn't expect to see him at his best today but because Rhino and Jonno have bowled well he has been able to be carried to an extent. The real issue is whether Sid would have done better and I'm not sure he would've. We need Patto back to his best as he is a gun when he is.

Yeah i knew he had almost no bowling same as bird, seems dodgy to me to take 2 backups with no 4 day cricket behind them the last 6 months.

So 3 missed chances off faf and one that he nicked and wasn't reviewed.

We sure do like giving this bloke plenty of opportunities to bat us out of series.

You guys still owe us a few more after the endless chances Warner got :P

This is his first first class match in seven months. He shouldn't even by playing.

What about Bird or Faulkner Coulter Nile and Henriques look like very promising bowlers Aussies have a lot of pace options surely you could have got someone better than an out of form unfit Pattinson

Well the rest are injured lol

Either injured or coming back as well

It's all getting a bit stale out there now. Need someone to make something happen. They will probably make the follow on. Though I'm guessing Pup won't want to be batting with 10 overs before stumps.

Bird is also coming back from injury. Coulter Nile not good enough yet. Henriques not good enough period. Faulkner injured. Starc coming back from injury. Hazelwood below the pecking order. Cummins injured.

Patto had to come back somewhere sometime. It would have been better if it had been in Shield cricket but they probably didn't expect Sid to lose his pace to that extent.

Someone should tell Siddle to start eating meat again eating a veggie diet will just turn him into a Indian Trundler

Bird would be better. He's also been injured but he looks fit.

Coulter-Nile and Faulkner are injured (Faulkner and Henriques don't have the pace to be selected as bowlers).

Behrendorff would be a decent selection on recent form.

HUGE wicket, Faf is :out for 67

Jonno bowls across the right hander and takes the outside edge

Yes Johnno!

What happened to Hilfenhaus

That's exactly what I was going to ask Lol

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Hilfenhaus lost his pace and swing because his arm position fell into round arm.

He's starting to bowl okay but he's done the pecking order. It's not impossible that McDermott could fix him up if he had the chance.

I wouldn't rule out Dougy and Hilfenhaus completely

How fast does Bird bowl these days? Mid 130s? Might be too slow for Boof.

Chin music coming up now that the tail is in

Bird actually moves it a bit. Boof wouldn't care about Siddles pace if Siddle was doing something with the ball

Twatto gets Abbott 8 down now. Let's wrap it up before stumps boys

Yea I know. Bowling 135s if you can swing the ball both ways or jag it off the seam works too. The Indian trundler mentality lol

Siddle's problem is that he used to be able to move up a gear in pace when the team needed and he seems to have lost that.

Steyn out for a cowlashing 28 off 27

Regulation edge to slip off Jonno

They need 15 to avoid the follow on. Given it's so close to stumps there's a good chance they will enforce it. They've only been bowling for 81 overs

As I said at start of the day, all these new Aussie bowlers waiting to come through are just so damn expensive. They leak so many runs.

I'd actually enforce the follow on. Chance to get Smith or Peterson

Pattinson's problem is that he hasn't played in seven months.

He hasn't even played Sheffield Shield for Victoria.

I think he has two big bash league games and two ODIs in that time and a few grade cricket matches as a batsman.

Morkel out

Don't think they are enforcing the follow on. Would've been a good opportunity to have Biff out twice the same day lol

Vern should have tried to farm the strike rather than having Morkel face so many balls. Smith and Amla needs to make some runs in 2nd inning when SA is behind. AB can't do it alone.

15 overs to bat today. Maybe another 200 by lunch tomorrow? They probably don't want to bat last.

Good decision for Pup to put SA in this morning

200 by lunch is bit too much unless SA bowls badly but 425 lead and declaration with 5 session for SA will leave all results as possibility.

An Australian victory would be sweet, my second favorite team.

I think we would need well over 400.

But this is cape town a place where we had a 188 run lead and still lost the test by 8 wickets, lots of work before they think about declaring.

Saffers very animated and giving Warner and Rogers an almighty spray lol
