SA batting really slow seems like they want a draw and not look for runs.

India would back themselves to even get 300 here.
 
Fall of wickets ensuring a result (hence threat for India) I was hoping for a draw with slow run rate. South African bowlers can extract more out of this pitch!
 
South Africa needs 300 to psychologically dent India and also Maharaj to now perform in the 4th innings. Can't put it again on the fast bowlers to win them the match.
 
Highest successful chase on this ground is only 251. :/
 
Current Rate on Betting website is 1.50 on Proteas and 3.75 on India, Which translates into 65/35 equation.

There is no SRT in Indian line up. I will be surprised if Indians score anything above 200 while chasing.

Nobody in this lineup has that kind of ability. We fold easily these days . Besides, Rabada/Philander/Ngidi/Morkel/kesav is a much superior attack to Wasim/Waqar/Saqlain of 1999.
 
SA getting all out quickly here will help SA win this test.

Bumrah is never going to be easy to get away. You saw that yesterday. I think SA scored 3 runs in 5-6 overs at the start of their second innings. SA missed a trick here by not going at a quicker pace against Pandya from 70-80 overs. Him bowling 7 overs for 9 runs is criminal.
 
Inexplicable from SA. One of the worst batting approaches over the past 15-20 overs from SA I've ever seen. Just looking to block everything. Not sure if I'm watching SA or Pakistan's batting.
 
Dont understand S.A tactics of going along at snails pace with the bat, they need to try and score runs before indian bowlers run through the tail.
 
Its not turning but low bounce is the problem. Ash has no wicket in 2nd innings

Well Kohli is considered equal to Sachin by modern Indian generation.

Preserve the 1-0 lead by leaving as little time as possible for Indians and also putting score out of reach, but by doing it blowing a good chance to win this 2nd test. Game is 80% out of Indians hand right now, SA probably wants to make it 99%.

There is question of ability as well - Faf is struggling big time.
 
Excellent test match! I hope the Indians make a fist of it and get close. Could go down as a classic.

Draw when india is playing with 4 proper batsman? also africa has got around 100 overs to bowl out our batsman.

Ashwin missing in action as usual. But the south indian lobby in cricket will make sure he continues to get picked over Jadeja.

This southafrican side was pummeled by a very average English side recently .
Its a very good attack but no where near as good as that trio.
 
Virat Kohli Virat Kohli is not taking new ball deliberately, I think deep down if you follow his body language, that aggressive arms waving and chest pumping is gone. I think he wants Proteas to bat as much as possible so that DRAW could become a reality since it is not difficult to survive only 3.5 sessions.

With new Ball, wickets will go down quickly and Indians will have to negotiate 20-25 overs tonight. Technically meaning Kohli is looking forward to Win the 3rd test to Draw the series.

That was in England. In their home conditions, A attack is brilliant. England was more of a collective batting failure as well.

Steyn did not play in the series, neither AB De Villiers and Faf du plessis did not play in the first test and Philander also missed 1 odd test i think.

If AB De Villiers was not playing in this series, India would would have won this series comfortably.

Sub continent teams haven’t a hope in hell winning a test series in SA. Paks best chance would have been late 80s with there bowlers but for obvious reasons couldn’t play them. Ind never had pace bowlers to challenge SA in SA
 
Anyone maintaining a tracker for dropped catches this series?

Also, Virat Kohli is going to get banned with these over rates.

Lets assume if India would have scored 360 in 1st Innings. The lead right now would have been only 220 right now with new ball due. They could have cleaned up the tail and target of 240 odd would have been in reach.

Means. Pandya's run out
Pujara Run out

Ultimately sealed India's fate.

One can argue Philander and Amla Run out, but remember Amla was also dropped on 32.
 
Well, India cannot chase down the lead SA already have even if they are allowed to bat twice barring the 4 batsmen they have in their XI.
 
Every wicket fall is adding threat to India! Rahul (fighting for place in the side), shaky Vijay would struggle to bat today at stumps! That will leave Kohli to fight with all the tail-enders (starting from No.5) and with all his screams, buddy-worships (Shastri, Rohit, etc), future-test selection strategies, etc!
 
Strange innings from Du Plessis. That period from 62-80 overs was the worst I've seen from SA in a long long time. India still in the game.
 
du Plessis had the opportunity to flatten India here, but was not able to capitalize. An Indian win is unlikely now, but if they manage to pull it off, he will have to cop a lot of blame.
 
Virat should have given chance for shami to pick 5 wicket haul (which is rare for him) who knows he would have got his confidence back for 3rd test?

Predicted result - S.A wins by 5 runs
 
Looked like kohli delibrately didn't want shami to get wickets (maybe shami is getting dropped for next match) but atleast 5 wicket haul would have helped for his confidence.
 
249 is the highest successful chase here..... Indian will have to beat a record to register a win.

35 overs left in the day... How many of them are possible?
 
I still think India has a good chance in this Test match. If you survive the new ball, it's hard work for the bowlers. SA needs to take out 3 wickets with the new ball.
