I am a fan of his, but I would say like a lot of other young players coming in for Pakistan in the last couple of years, he just hasn’t played enough cricket.

Since Asif Ali made his ODI debut no one has scored faster than him in ODIs. Dropping him because he’s “inconsistent” misunderstands his role and doesn't make sense in any case because, given his role, four scores of 30+ in eight innings is hardly inconsistent anyway.

Also, given his role maybe he deserved a chance to prove his worth outside UAE, i.e. on pitches where ball comes on to the bat nicely?

Malik is finishing his main spinners, I think he has planned to use Hafeez against Miller; probably will under bowl Amir & Shinwari. Good choking job with spinners and if they go hard against Hafeez, he is too cunning., might use FZ as well with 2 right handers in.

Hafeez has to bowl unless Shoaib sees him as a competition for world cup and not bowl him.

Difference is that Amla is at the other end of his career. He is holding up an end and it’s up to the younger guys at the other end to take on the bowlers. He can’t bat like he is still 27-28. He is doing what is required from him.

The only way you can carry both these guys is srfaraz sits out. Malik and Sarfraz batting wise are about the same on current form in the odi. The right decision would be to leave malik and sarfaraz out and get a new captain, it won’t happen though.

I think the highlight of his career has been the 4 in 30 balls in the must win game against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup.

And he was surplus to requirements in the Champions Trophy. Apart from the cocky review against Yuvraj, the highlight of his Champions Trophy was getting deposited to the upper stands by Pandya.
