South Africa vs Pakistan | 5th ODI | Cape Town | Jan 30, 2019 | Pakistan Innings

Bit like Salman butt

Yes and he is just 23 and will surely learn a lot of things in the next couple of years. He already knows things which are most difficult to teach someone who doesnt know them and that is decent technique and temperament.

Salman Butt’s best years were ahead when he got banned.

This is a good start by Pakistan - have to accept Fakhar bats the way he does.

But Imam as an opener is already working out, no need to change that but sure Shan can be tried for couple of games before the worldcup so that we can know what he is capable of in ODIs.

I dont remember a Pakistani opener doing better than what Imam has done over the last year. He hasnt been most dominant but his consistency needs appreciation.

A deciding match of an away ODI series is not the time to change opening combination.

Winning v SA would be huge for confidence going into the WC so result should be prioritised over experimentation.

Shan deserves a chance but it should be against Australia.

Yes. Scoring any runs in SA will give immense confidence.

Also scored an 82* in NZ last January. Missed out on a definite century due to rain.

Fakhar was our best batsman averaging 50 on a tour when everyone else were falling like pins.

Pakistan fans ought to remember it wasn't long ago we were opening with Azhar and Shehzad. Back the only naturally attacking batsman we have now fgs !

These type of batsmen will frustrate sometimes but must be stuck with.

Fakhar on his day can demolish every bowling attack.

We need to persist with him, he will pay our support back inshaAllah.

Agreed, we are too fast to ask and put players aside without realizing that even the top players struggle with form. Doing that to your team’s opener is criminal as its the key position, one of the reasons Pak struggled with batting over the last decade or ao is due to not having 2 good openers and continuing with them.

I diasagree with a lot of Mocky’s tactical decisions but his persistence with players is appreciable and that is how players are developed. That is how he developed Amla and ABD.

Ramiz

Every match Barbar's age drops by a year.
That is exceptional even by Pakistani standards.

Pakistan scored 317 very comfortably in the 3rd ODI on a much more difficult track to bat on. Ball is coming on nicely and the boundaries are not so big, plus quick outfield

Also SA have 3 trundlers in their playing xi too

Agreed. We should back him.

I have no Problem with fakhar as he is hit and miss but gives the innings an impetus

He is out of form and still makes opposition think about his wicket shows the x factor he has

What the hell, Babar going for a walk.

He was playing so fluently.

That was one way Babar could have gotten out on this wicket

Bobby again shuffling across far too much. Previous got out same way. Just that mode of dismissal was LBW

Babar proudly living up to his name. Great potential, but a soft player. Truly the next Yousuf in the making.

That is a dismissal he would like to forget lol Most embarrassing dismissal for a batsman is to get bowled around legs

Now the inevitable has happened. Don’t you dare compare this series of babar to kohli’s 2012 series against Australia

it doesnt require a 350+ score for any decent bowling lineup...

317 would be defended by pak had no rain or played the entire 50 overs...

Fakhar has more responsibility now to carry on. Shouldnt worry a lot about SR now, its about making a decent partnership with Hafeez

Time matures you and unveils number of things which even you dont know about yourself.

Awful dismissal. What the hell, throughout this ODI series its been soft dismissals for Babar.

I wanted to say this before the innings started but was a bit hesitant knowing that it could turn out to be mere speculation...

Pakistan are so much better off losing the Toss in a final. They lose a lot of pressure knowing that they have been put in to a situation which they have to deal with. The most silliest thing you can do is winning the toss against Pakistan and putting in to bat in a final knowing that historically this side has failed under pressure whilst chasing, that too under lights. I don't think India would have lost the CT final if they batted first and scored 300+ at the oval. Lets see how this one ends up..

Last two matches Babar has got out twice in this fashion. In last match Steyn got him out lbw same place with a slower one, this time bowler is same pace any way 😏😏😏

Hafeez has been in good touch, long may that continue.

Let's see how Pakistan does today now that Imam isn't there to anchor the innings and hold up one end. Everybody wants higher SR and not averages - let's see how SR helps Pakistan here.

Babar has been shuffling to leg side to try and score more runs on the leg side.. It has cost him his wicket twice in this series. He may have a re-think now.

We were supposed to be scoring off the likes of Pretorius.

Definitely on the backfoot now

These two need to target to play atleast 20 overs even at RR of 4.5

If we were supposed to be 64-2 i would not have thought that the 2 down would be Babar and Imam.

Rizwan could have been sent as he has been scoring runs at this position but would have been a gutsy move

Dont think hafeez should be coming in so early. He is good for last 20 overs. Pakistan can easliy be bogged down here. Before we know it it will be 100/4.
