To say the least, Dilshan's captaincy seems just like his batting. No method involved. It's more of instinct rather then planning. But the difference is that even such batting comes off sometimes:afridi

It would be safe to say that out of all the SL captains I have seen right from Ranatunga, Jayasurya, Mahela, Sanga and Dilshan, he seems to be the worst when it comes to inspiring the team on field. He seems to drift along with the game rather then try to turn it his way.

Today's decision at the toss made it evident to me that this match will go SA'a way until and unless they dismiss them within 150-200. But again, he should've known better that they no longer have Malinga and Murali to rely upon.

Very very poor captaincy on display here.

two Asian captains got it wrong today

No. Dhoni got it right with his decision. SCG is a dry wicket which shall be impossible to bat upon from 3rd session of 4th day and day 5. Any team batting fourth on that track will find it difficult to score anything above 150.

The advantage is lost now though.

Yes. Who needs a spinner when the match ends on day three:))

BTW, Congrats Petersen. What an effort by these two:bow:

South Africa | 2/261 | 62 Overs | RR 4.20

28 Overs still left!

South Africa | 3/269 | 67 Overs | RR 4.01

SA getting a bit slow now!

South Africa | 3/303 | 78 Overs | RR 3.88

Run Rate slow down to under 4 now!

I think only way SL can escape is some rain to spoil some sessions , at least 2 sessions, and also SL must score 450 plus in the first innings

SL lacks bowling options, seriously. The will find it very tough to win Test Matches, unless opposition play badly.

Yay! 150 for Kallis!

I want him to get a triple ton in this match.

I just noticed this is Kallis's 150th match, how fitting he has a 150+ in this match...

Truly under-rated batsman.

Kallis highest test score is 201* so can he beat that?

South Africa | 1st Innings | 3/336 | 86 Overs | RR 3.90

SA's day, Kallis and Peterson's day too. Great batting from both but Kallis was just :14:

I wouldn't write Sri Lanka off just yet. They'll be determined to get a draw out of this test from this position, and they have the batting to do it.

Stats man Madhu has sends this: "Jacques Kallis has been involved in 64 century partnerships. AB de Villiers has been his batting partner in the most century stands (12) followed by Hashim Amla and Gary Kirsten (9 each). "

South Africa should be aiming to wrack up 550-600 as quickly as possible and then get the SL batsmen in and try to make some inroads into their batting.

South Africa | 1st Innings | 4/453 | 118.3 Overs | RR 3.82

Lunch - Day 2 | Petersen 109, Kallis 224, De Villiers 84*

15 left to 500!

I think S.A need to start to be abit more aggresive here and look for quick runs and should be looking to either declare at Tea time or just after.

I think if AB gets to a 100 i think we will see him open up and play a few more shots.

AB 96* At moment.
