It just seems like a different world.... kerala and tamil nadu especially
whenever I meet Indians from delhi, Punjab, haryana or even Mumbai I have a lot in common with them and can even speak in hindi/Urdu amongst each other if we want to. but its not just language (I end up speaking in English to most anyways), they just seem to be from a foreign country.
the food, culture, outlook on life, habits etc etc are wildly different to the point that they are polar opposites. was particularly surprised by how different the food is
they also seem generally more rational and educated abt social issues which plague Pakistan and north india and also seem more educated. this is enviable. you don't hear abt messed up news as much from over there.
is there a big chasm between south india and north Indians. an indian forum I surf sometimes seems to have a big divide. one of my indian friends said the only thing in common between south and north india are:
- love for cricket
- Hinduism
I mean he said it as a joke but the point was to tell how diff they are.
in what points of history before british colonization were they ever united as one country?
also how is their integration in terms of being in the cricket team. I know ashwin is from tamil nadu. any other big names from there or kerala?
this is a topic that has fascinated me for a few weeks ever since I played cricket with a bunch of tamil guys a few weeks ago and talked to them abt it.
