What's new

Sri Lanka beat India by 3 runs in the final to win the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2018

How come IND-PAK play in one SF if they are both Group winners? Only explanation is that BD actually won their respective Group by virtue of H2H over PAK as IND is clearly other Group winner with 3 wins.

That actually tells how clueless PAK management is, being host they had no idea of the order of precedence & how the ranks in group will be decided. I do understand that PAK rested few players against BD, considering they had advanced already (It wasn't that case though mathematically, but I give the BoD here), but surely they didn't know that if BD advances beating PAK, they'll be group winners and face a weaker opponent (at least on papers) in SF!!!!

Still PAK should win the SF & subsequently the Final, because I don't see other teams loaded with so many regular players, while IND A is also touring NZ, therefore this is basically their 3rd team, with only one player over 24; but posters here should realize how cricket administration is run under PCB - you need one sip to taste the broth!!!!

Match abandoned not due to rain but due to poor facility and ground conditions. Thanks to the PCB, the UAE team is out of contention.

Last 2 idiots have been Run Out, in a SF!!!! We'll need 240 at least. If SRL E has lots of lefti, Naeem can defend 240, but 2 Run Outs ... come on.

They are just imitating their seniors. Wasting away winning positions in crucial matches.

Still can be a tight game as Yasir is still there, but yes - it was a wasted opportunity. From 44-3, they took it to 165-4 which suggests the wickets isn't a road; 260 was possible even from 44-3.

237, probably 20 short of a winning total. Those 2 run outs eventually cost at least 25 here.

BE should remove this wikrakoddy now otherwise he will play a Shai Hope innings today

SRL is 71/3 after 15.2 overs. BD bowlers is taking control of RR after brief start by SRL.

SL on course for a win. Will be a great relief for SL fans to see their youngsters doing well. I was expecting BD to be in finals.

At 88/4 BD was in control, but then SRL fought back hard. Now it is SRL's match to loose

Among all teams, SRL was probably the youngest with so many U20 players and they deservedly won today. This kid Kamindu Mendis looks to be real deal batting under pressure and he can bowl as well. Should be a close Final between the best 2 teams of the tournament.

Sri Lanka in drivers seat to win this final though if this partnership still has an outside chance to take India closer.

Lets see

This partnership is crucial. If Sri Lanka doesn’t break it sooner these two might win it for India.

Well played Lanka - the best Emerging team and their squad was genuine Emerging squad with several players in contention of national call in next few years.

yeah they played really well throughout the tournament and thoroughly deserved to win the cup but I am also glad that our boys went down fighting.

Debatable, though I would love to think so. They won the last edition as well, but since then has gone to downwards only :(

they are performing well in U-19/U-23 kind of tournament. They also did well in U-19 Asia cup recently but somehow they are just not able to promote such performances to the senior level.

The game is learned through FC systems, which is a bitter truth - unless that's developed, no team can sustain as a top team. SRL, BD will be expecting that one Murali or Sanga or Shakib emerges and can perform for a decade or two.
