The Warne-Muralitharan might be the ugliest trophy known to man. It looks like something you'd use to summon Cthulhu!

How about number of Kumars, Singhs and Mohammads?

The four most common cricketer names are Mohammad, Khan, Singh, and Smith.

However:

- Mohammads, Khans, Singhs and Smiths come from multiple countries, not just from one country like Pereras, Fernandos etc.
- The results for Mohammad, Khan and Singh are not exclusively for surnames, there are many people who show up in the searches who have those as given names or middle names

Congratulations to Sri Lanka. Always a great feeling to whitewash a top team at home, let alone the Aussies. Herath has been a destroyer in the truest sense. The crowd were really enjoying themselves with the win, as was Mr.Sumitrapala!

In history, this is 5th time AUS had been swept blank.

4-0 against SAF '69-70
3-0 against PAK '82-83
4-0 against IND
2-0 against PAK &
this one.

It's their good fortune that IND-AUS 5 Test Series are not happening there anymore & PCB'll keep arranging 2 Test Series at home.

Also 2-0 in Ind 2010 if you are including 2 match series

Yes, I forgot. Mohali (VVS's match I believe) & Bangalore (Chennai?).

Ideally, 2 Test series should be excluded - so 4 in total.

England matched that almost with in half a decade though. 5-0, 3-0, 5-0 & 2-0, of which that 2-0 was due to PCB chickening out at Abu Dhabi.

Told you, these minnow can't chase this even if they each got two turns to bat

Well done SL.

Aus has sunk to a new low. Earlier they used to get spanking in India. Now all Asian teams are whitewashing them.

Pathetic from Australians.. When you start believing they can fight..

The Australians looked like they were doing well and then Herath happened.

SL should be a model for the larger SC countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Even with a small population of ~20 million they develop their players well enough to compete with the big countries. And their economic achievements are phenomenal, with a per cap GDP 2X of India, 2.5X of Pakistan and 3X of Bangladesh.

they had 100-1 and then 160-10, really pathetic performance! steven smith's mojo is about to be broken

Complete embarrassment. 9 test losses in a row in the subcontinent. 7 if you don't count UAE but you should anyway.

Amazing performance from Sri Lanka. Youngsters performed at different points in the series and Based Herath was the pillar as always. Kusal Mendis, Dhananjaya De Silva, Sandakan are very promising youngsters. Kaushal Silva showed his class too.

Spectacular failure from Oz. Love it! :D

...And why would you not count the UAE? :13:

Congrats to Mathews/Ford and co. Brilliant achievement no doubt but still a long way to go. I think the biggest positive for SL from this series is the way guys like Mendis, de Silva and Chandi stayed calm and stood up with the bat when it really mattered. That fight and trying to see out difficult periods rather than just swing and pray has been missing since Sanga and Mahela left. Hopefully onwards and upwards from here.

Props to the curators as well for preparing great cricket pitches throughout. Apart from maybe this Test which was mostly for the spinners there was plenty in the wicket for all the bowlers in the first two Tests and the batsmen too when they applied themselves. Props to Oz as well it was an enjoyable series with plenty of twists and turns. Even though the final score-lines might not look it Aus certainly had their chances in all three Tests but failed to capitalise on them.

As for the legend that is Herath the destroyer well what can you say about the great man that hasn’t been said already. He has single handedly put the straight slider on the map. Might be just a couple of small steps for Herath, but it’s a giant leap for all short chubby tweakers out there toiling away not knowing where their next wicket would be coming from. A trailblazing heavyweight of the game in every sense.

Expected one hell of a day 5. Match usually goes till 7 or 8 in the morning here, woke up at 5 and the match was already over:yk

Lovely stuff SL. So happy for them. I went to sleep when Australia were 70-0 and thought that they would win easily but it looks like they collapsed to Herath the destroyer again.

Lovely stuff.

That's actually the coolest trophy. Good to break from the norm. Looks like some ancient Chinese artifact to summon some cricketing dragon.

Those are actual hand casts btw. Neat looking trophy I reckon. Apparently took more than 200 man-hours to produce.

Perera / Perira, Fernado / Fernandini / Fernandiz etc are Portugese names. Found in Portugal, Brazil, SL and Goa in India. So the point is not valid.
