SL need a masterclass from Mahela and Sanga to save this now. They've done it before. But this is a tricky wicket now with world class bowlers bowling on it.

What a master class from KP. And in very contrasting style from the rest. SL game to loose now.

180 is a commanding lead. You can see with KP that it took a high-class player to get a big exciting innings out of this slow pitch. If England sneak five or six wickets before tea they should be fine in this game.

England just need to keep things tight and keep picking off wickets, SL have a tendancy to fold like a pack of cards alot. England have two days to force a result. If they dont win it from here they only have themselves to blame.

2 days is a looong time and even f they play at a run an over, they can win, Mahela can't a;ways come to the rescue, Id rather Dishan take some responsibility now instead of the quickfire 20-30's (which might be good considering the situation in this particular match), It's about time Sanga made some runs and f he gets started its game over for Eng, Also decent knocks from samraweera and the other jayawardene, with the almost ever-dependable Mathews, I don't see SL losing this. There wont be a tie that's for sure either Eng draw the series 1-1 or lose 2-0

Hopefully our seamers destroy the batting line up for under 185. I don't want to worry about 4th innings chases, though I think we can chase down 100.

I count atleast 3 easy wickets before lunch with the nightwatchman, and Dilshan and Thirimanne being generally useless.

Sanga's out of form augurs well for England. If Sanga and Mahe can forge a big stand ( 200+) then SL have a chance to draw.

Finally England batsmen deliver as a group. KP was superb. If only he could be consistent. Lankan bowlers were average but we can't really take anything away from a good England batting knock.

England have the bowlers to finish this on day 4 and I expect them to put serious pressure on Sri Lanka.

Sangakara and Jayawardne playing at home could put a good fight but for me England should level this series from here. I really hope they do as this would lift for the summer and the winter tour of India.

you'll comfortably chase anything up to 300 on this pitch. Anything more I guess it's a bit less clear who the winner will be.

England's game to lose. What a performance by pietersen, scored quickly on a slow pitch.

England will wrap this up I think. 180 lead is just two much, Sri Lanka have to bat for two days to draw this.

If SL score 480 tomorrow, and our batsmen chase down 300 the following day...

Both sets of bowlers need to be flogged.

lanka will lose the game or the game will be draw. i dont see eng losing. but eng in sc? spinning conditions? i would reserve my judgement.

very unlikely to happen ... this needs some super hero kind of effort

I know, I was remarking upon the conditions that I quoted.

And interestingly, Anderson has 8 wickets this series, all the seamers from both sides have exactly 8 wickets total this series.

Interesting indeed.

yeah wasn't clear in my post. I should have said due to that fact, England won't lose. Either win or draw for England.

It's not England's game to lose, as England won't lose.

Was a rubbish earlier post by me. Wasn't thinking.

Prasad averages same as the other opener ...... key is to make sure getting every run possible.

you forgot Adelaide 2007 so quickly :))

They longer SL bat here...... the better for them , need to bat at least 5 sessions to save the game.

England dropping catches like flies here and Monty's not even playing this Test :))

Atherton with a pathetic interview of the umpires, didn't ask a single challenging question about yesterday's controversy. They could have handled it better, Michael - you're allowed to say that. What a letdown.

Do Tv broadcasters do any kinda audition or something to be a commentator...
How did Jaysuriya get this gig????He cant string one comprehensible sentence together without stuttering a million times..

I had to mute my TV coz his commentary was making my cringe...

lol at England cant even get a Tail ender out...how they will going to get Mahela out ??

SL win or Draw are the only possibilities i can see here

Finn to Prasad, OUT, Finn makes amends for his drop, gets rid of Dhammika, there is a deep square leg in place and Dhammika strikes it straight to him, short on middle and it's pulled away, Bresnan takes it comfortably

Finn to Sangakkara, FOUR, fires that full outside off, Sanga squeezes that one past the slips, along the ground, for a boundary

Anyone watching it ?? From the scorecard it looks like lanks is scoring at a decent pace.

Geoffrey Boycott, BBC Test Match Special

"It's doing nothing for the seamers, so I would give Patel a bowl. He always seems to be the fifth choice, an after-thought."

:)))

SL would need to bat really well to apply any pressure on England, the first thing is to wipe out the lead

Definitely going to be a result, a lot of assistance for spinners in this track and going to get worse on day 5.

GO ENGLAND!

Man can't believe a guy like strauss is getting so unlucky, hands down best captain in cricket right now.

That session was part morning rust, part complacency. Only got the two gimme wickets. All the hard work is ahead. Needs a much better bowling and fielding effort after lunch.

Strauss isn't the best captain by any means. Neither he is smart nor aggressive. He is pretty conservative with his bowling changes and field placings. What he is a very nice guy and great leader. When I say great leader I mean off the field.

Strauss made a mistake in not sticking Anderson on when Sangakkara came out to bat. I mean...the bloke has got him out for two golden ducks in three innings! There's got to be a combination of physical and mental stuff going on there.

Hopefully this mistake is rectified after lunch and Anderson takes the first ball.
