Muhammad Afzal: "Muhammad Imran has
not scored a single run in test cricket in
last four matches. We are also expecting
he would stay to support Sarfraz.

Sarfraz won't do much in this situation with the field wide spread on the boundaries, Just 1s on 5th ball won't make a difference.

Well played sarfraz but if i was him i wouldve taken a single on the last ball of the spinner somehow and even if it wasnt possible the whole over of te fast bowler was still safer than one ball of the spinner whose dangerous for tailenders. But anyway well played to him

Just have to feel for Sarfaraz.

Should have finished this series with 5 tons for sure and gone into England series with 5 test match tons. Instead he goes with 3.

These tailenders have to be worst in the business. I hv lost the count of how many matches our tailenders hv cost us in last 5 yrs or so...

SL only have 60 odd lead.

If we bowl them out for around 200, we can still win this game.

So its over to bowlers. Imran Khan has to prove me wrong today. I hope he does.

If you're relying on the tail to win you games then I'm afraid you won't get far.

Yep. We need a stronger tail. I'd understand if these bowlers were world class, but they are not. Instead like Junaids says we need a number 8 averaging 20-25 and number 9 averaging 20. We cannot afford this to happen again. Its been happening for too long.

Wahab at 8, Aamir at 9 and Yasir at 10.

Thanks Bullet Drive. It's not as if anyone other than Yasir Shah and Rahat (replacing Wahab) deserves a place as a bowler anyway.

what do you expect from Last player? to score 14(7) ?? At least he provided some support to Sarfi, and that was a good thing

We weren't expecting him to score a 50 but the way he missed that straight ball was just shameful when your partner is 22 runs behind a hundred and is counting on you to defend 1 ball and let him be on strike for next over. If it was a good delivery then fine but there was nothing in it, Even Junaid would have defended it but nakli IK ruined everything for Sirfraz and Pakistan. Shame Shame Shame!

Ryan Harris retired today with a batting average of nearly 22. Meanwhile Mitch Johnson has scored a Test century against Dale Steyn, and Mitch Starc has scored a 99 against him.

Abdullah719. .. The game has really evolved over the years and it's pretty much a given that the tailenders have to be supportive to their top order. I ain't saying that they shd be doing the bulk of the scoring but to keep their wicket in tact when they hv a proper batsman at the other end shdnt be a too much of an ask.. Our batting line up is anyway fragile and this spineless tail makes it only look worse.. Our tailenders can hardly hold a bat in their hands and for god sake these are international players..

Misbah is right tailenders need to be taught batting in domestic.. You think our batting coach isnt working on it.. Its a bit too late now. Its like fielding. Our bowlers in domestic just dont want to learn fielding or batting.

Need to get SL out for 150.
Missed the early morning play.

You don't understand. Don't under estimate the tail. They are what win you games. Check the first test where Zulfi scored 50.

The tail will occasionally join in but you don't rely on your tail everytime. The batsmen have largely been the problem this series. A future tail that includes Amir, Wahab and Yasir can be competitive.

Sure that 99 by Starc was against India, but yes once again PAK exposed due to a weak tail.

The only time this series the tail did well was the first test, and we won.

I think we should focus more on batsmen who can bat rather than bowlers who can bat. I understand where you're coming from but we know what the desi culture is like. Most full-time bowlers are simply not interested in batting and they can not simply be taught overnight. But we should first focus on finding openers that can last more than five overs which should be a higher priority.

I can't even count how many times Australian tailenders have either saved or get their team to a respectable total in both tests and ODIs, In last Ashes it happened many times when the likes of Harris and Siddle would rescue their team by some decent knocks. Our is the worst tail in International Cricket, after dismissing Top 6 the rest fall like a pack of cards in 20 odd runs which is just unacceptable in this era.

Not sure why people are blaming the tail. We lost our last 3 wickets for 50-70 runs which is not bad at all. Its not like the last 5 wickets folded up for 5-10 runs. If anything YK and Misbah have failed yet again when they needed to deliver the most.

Our domestic bowlers dont want to learn fielding and batting and are not taught it... And still they arent great at bowling

In Aus, Eng there is some coaching trend. Even bowlers during school, club has basic coaching of batting which help them. In Pakistan, if you are bowler neither club nor region bother to teach you basics of batting

True. And when your openers almost have tailenders' techniques then you know there's a problem anyway.

YK & Misbah always fail in crunch games. Its time for them to go.

But tail did this:

Adil 0 off 1.

Yasir 18 off 37.

Rahat 2 off 11.

Imran Khan 0 off 8.

Not good at all.

IK ruined every thing? Well said.

Yes not good, but they tried their best. Yasir provided good hand,

That's what I said ... Our batting is really fragile so that makes it even more important for our tail to wag... The batsmen are sure to be blamed for putting a flop show time and again but these tailenders ain't even worth a mention. They ain't even good at their own dept which is bowling and that really sums it up...

Thats the problem but then again these are international players selected to represent their nation in the highest form of the game. Surely they can learn and taught how to defend and support your set partner at the other end but I don't see any improvement in their technique and approach, hell they can't even hold a bat properly. In the end it all comes down to an individual himself and his willingness to learn and adapt at this level which we don't observe and expect from these mediocre and incompetent tailenders who can't even score a single run in 5 tests after nearly 1 year of International Cricket, just pathetic and shambolic to say the least

SL's openers and pacers are the reason for their comeback in the series. Need to bowl well with the new ball and take out the openers and put some pressure on that middle order.

We are loosing another test series due to our pathetic batsmen and trundler pacers!!

If Imran Khan doesn't get more then 3 wickets today, he should be sacked forever.

Not only most of our players are lack of talent or quality but also no intelligence or passion or liability to perform.

Pakistan is the least thinking team in the world. So many edges in first match didn't carry to slips, still they didn't bring the slips in two three yards.

Hope Sri Lanka defeat us by 300+ runs so we might see some significant changes
